GAMEKEEPING

SRUC and the gamekeeping department manage a 1,100 acre local estate in Fife providing you with valuable vocational training in a real work environment .

Throughout the course you’ll be involved in all aspects of the provision of lowland gamekeeping and the management of field sports which includes being actively involved in the preparation and running of shoot days at the local estate

You’ll have opportunities to visit upland estates to investigate the role of the Gamekeeper with red deer and red grouse You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake industry certified courses such as the game meat hygiene module, the BASC safe shoot award, ATV training and snaring accreditation

You will make use of the Gamekeeping Workshop which includes industrial plucking machines, meat preparation area, deer larder, game preparation and processing rooms, vacuum packer and shrink wrappers ideal for the processing of small and large game sourced from the local estate Industrial incubators and hatchers are also on site, essential for the college gamebird rearing enterprise
