Naomi Platt, HND Wildlife & Conservation Management
Naomi Platt decided to give up a full-time job in management to change her career and follow her passion to something within the wildlife industry, with a particular interest in becoming a Ranger
Naomi says “when I saw this course on the SRUC website it just felt completely the right course for me It is also local to me and is a nice size to help connect with course mates and tutors The Barony Campus is also set in beautiful grounds ”
“One of my favourite modules so far would be Interpretation and Visitor Management Techniques, because I am exploring the art of interpretation and visitor management including access laws and policies I would like to embark in a future career that connects people with wildlife and the importance of conservation as it is this engagement that will help save species and biodiversity I am also really enjoying building my portfolio for this module ”
“I have had to learn how to be a student again To learn how to write assignments and study for exams, to make new friends, but I have loved it so far I am proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks!”
“If you are a bit more mature and the thought of going back to full time study is scary, just go for it, it will be the best decision you’ve ever made and can be life transforming! You will surprise yourself! Any doubts, just ask the wonderful team at SRUC, they are so friendly and helpful, and will put your mind at ease ”
