Anna-Mairead Ferguson, HNC Horticulture
Anna-Mairead was working at a garden centre when someone described the course so well.
Anna-Mairead said, "at the time I was not sure and nervous about being a student again but now being here I am so glad I gave it a chance as I am really enjoying the course so far "
"My favourite modules are 'Plant Protection, Horticultural Practices, Plant Recognition and Use, and Plant Growth and Development These are my favourite as I am learning a lot about plants such as the science of plants, how to protect and look after them, about horticulture and the different sectors and about new plants I did not know about before "
"I had heard wonderful things about SRUC and had met some previous students who told me about their time there My highlights so far have been studying in such a beautiful rural area, how nice my lecturers are, and learning things about a subject I am passionate about "
"After I finish, I would like to study Horticultural Therapy and then to have my own sensory open-to-all garden with edible plants "
"My advice to anyone thinking about college is that it can be very daunting being a student, living away from home where you feel safe but give it a go and you will see that there is nothing to worry about SRUC is a genuinely nice, open, and friendly place "
