HORTICULTURE WITH PLANTSMANSHIP

Plantsmanship is a branch of Horticulture which focuses on the knowledge and cultivation of plants, especially unusual or rare ones .

The practical experience of plant cultivation and management is integrated with advanced knowledge of plant distribution, classification, diversity, structure and identification. You will develop a good appreciation of botanical issues that are relevant to horticulture today, and gain experience of techniques appropriate to the curation and restoration of historic and botanic plants and gardens

You will gain an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of wild and ornamental plants from across the globe Using RBGE’s world class gardens and scientific collections you can research your developing interests, whether that is for a specific plant group, a geographic area, conservation, or the uses of plants

The Horticulture with Plantsmanship courses are taught jointly by SRUC and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and as a student you have direct access to the vast resources of both institutions The RBGE is world-renowned for its rich collection of plant species and conservation work The landscaped gardens, botanical collections and expertise of RBGE staff offer a unique learning resource unparalleled in Scotland
