When we first started, I was terribly in debt and we were just a few months away from bankruptcy. We started seeing a boost right away in our business, we took what Steve’s given me and we just started implementing and implementing, and it’s just totally transformed my business. Steve has helped me with my laser focus, he helps me implement, he’s taken my business to a whole new level. We went from a half a million dollars to a million dollars in two years. It’s just an incredible experience to know that where you think you’re just dead and things are horrible, to now anything is possible. I can see taking this to a whole new three or four types of businesses -- it’s going to be huge. Steve is all business, he is an unbelievably smart, brilliant man. I can’t say enough about him. Everything he’s told me, I’ve made so much money it doesn’t matter what it costs. They don’t make enough money in this world that somebody could pay me so I would stop listening to Steve. Steve is the exact reason why I have a retirement fund now. It’s probably illegal how much fun I’m having!”

How To Break Through The $10 Million A Year Plateau By Steve Sipress

Usually a successful business will hit a plateau around the $10 million mark in annual revenue. Sometimes a little less, around $5 million or $8 million a year, and sometimes a little more, such as 12, 15, or even $20 million a year in revenue. But the plateau is very real, and is extremely common. If you’ve been there, you’re frustrated. I know the feeling. You’re constantly asking yourself, “How do we get to the next level? How do we get past this brick wall we seem to have hit?” Here’s the key… What got you to that level is NOT what’s going to get you beyond it and to the next stage of success. If you’ve gotten to that level, Congratulations. I don’t have to tell you anything about working hard or working long hours. You’ve done all of that. But that’s not how you get to the next level. That’s not how you break through the $10 million a year plateau. Now you’ve got to really work smart.

Long-term business success is a marathon – not a sprint. You know how to attract new customers, clients, or patients. You know how to make sales. You know how to deliver what you promise – and then some. Now you need to build a business. To do that, you need to invest in planning and strategy, having the right coaches and consultants, putting the right systems into place, and meeting and building relationships with the right people. Creating any new systems always means investing a lot of time, energy, strategy, effort, and capital on the front end with little to show for it, and then reaping the huge benefits of experiencing consistent and ideally automatic revenue and profits in the long run with very little continued investment of time, energy, strategy, effort, or capital. You will always need to pay attention to your systems and make improvements and adjustments as necessary, but the long-term gains far outweigh the short-term sacrifices needed to get them up and running. Frustration, uncertainty, and grunt work become a thing of the past, along with that oncedaunting $10 million a year plateau.

HOW TO BREAK THROUGH THE $10 MILLION A YEAR PLATEAU

As far as meeting the right people and building the right relationships, “working smart” sometimes means doing things that are very foreign to us when we are first building a business and getting to that $10 million a year plateau. That’s when we believe only in working long and hard, watching our pennies, and doing our best to ensure that every investment of time or capital results in a near-instant return. At that stage, the thought of taking a vacation or getting out of the office in the middle of the week to play a round of golf is completely foreign to us. Taking a few days away from our business to attend a seminar or conference seems crazy and counter-productive – not to mention the expense involved. Perish the thought! I can always tell who the business owners are who don’t get it, because they fly in just in time for the start of the event, and then rush to return home as soon as the event ends – and sometimes even before it’s over. Meanwhile, they are on their phones and checking emails the whole time, and spending just about every break checking in to see what’s going on with their business back home. Business owners who have broken through – or want to break through – the $10 million a year plateau make sure to have meals with as many of the speakers, sponsors, and attendees as possible, arrive early, and hang out in the bar after the event ends, building the relationships that can get them to the next level.

You will always need to pay attention to your systems and make improvements and adjustments as necessary, but the long-term gains far outweigh the short-term sacrifices needed to get them up and running. That’s working smart. That’s where you make the connections and build the relationships that can potentially skyrocket your business. Often it only takes one connection to change everything for you, and you never know when and where you’ll meet that key person. One thing is for sure, though: You won’t meet them by always staying in your office, working long and hard, and pinching your pennies. People who work long and hard and pinch their pennies – whether working in their own businesses or in someone else’s – often scoff at those who take time away from the office to hang out with key prospects and/or influencers by taking long lunches or playing golf or going on vacations with them. Taking four days away from the business? Investing in coaches and consultants? Attending seminars and joining mastermind groups? All of those things seem totally foreign and even wasteful to those who don’t get it. But once you start doing those things, and you make one or two key connections, that changes everything. That’s when you discover that growing your business is so much easier, and you kick yourself for not starting sooner to work smart instead of just hard and long. That’s when you break through your frustrating plateau and get to the next level of business success.

MANNY’S BLOG

January 2018

Always A Groomsman, NEVER A GROOM What a bittersweet way to start the new year! The mail carrier just delivered a “Save The Date” card. My first girlfriend – my childhood sweetheart -- is planning a big June wedding! I got the invitation because Colleen and I have remained friends over the years, and because I know her fiancé Claude well enough to be asked to be a member of the wedding; but it will be tough seeing her enter holy matrimony with someone else. Back when we were at obedience school, Colleen and I seemed to be inseparable (at least until the teachers used the Jaws of Life to get our leashes untangled). Yes, we were so perfectly matched that we completed each other’s sentences (although, admittedly, “Woof!” doesn’t exactly demand a Shakespearean sonnet). But it’s the same old story; we slowly drifted apart. We wanted different things out of the garbage can. I was content to hang around our hometown, but free spirit Colleen aspired to smelling the whole world. We also had deal-breaking different notions about children. Colleen thought they should throw sticks, and I thought they should throw Frisbees. It will not be a church wedding, although I’m sure there will be scripture such as “Whither thou goest, I will go on the same fire hydrant.” Considering some of the rowdies that Claude has run with, the ceremony will probably be conducted by a justice-of-disturbing-the-peace. I haven’t figured out my “plus one” for the wedding yet. And,

yes, I’ll limit it to one guest. Cousin Bruno always tries to get away with a “plus one hundred” waiver. (He has GOT to do something about those fleas!) I plan on spending lavishly for a gift. Colleen and Claude are registered at Bed, Bath, and Don’t Go Beyond The Invisible Fence. I know Colleen will be able to accessorize her gown with something old, something new, and something borrowed without any trouble. And if Bill the lizard will just conveniently lose his tail at the right time, the “something blue” is covered. I don’t expect Colleen to serve champagne at the reception. She’s traditional enough to have St. Bernards wearing kegs. Or maybe she’ll invite the Ty-D Bol Man to DJ. I’ll probably get all emotional as the ceremony progresses. That Elton John song “I Wanna Sniff The Bride” will undoubtedly be running through my head. I hope I’ll be able to share a video of the wedding (ugly bridesmaid collars and all) with my loyal readers. You’ll see that canine weddings are different in a few aspects; for instance, instead of throwing the bouquet, the bride DIGS UP the bouquet. I wish them both the best, but I hope Colleen isn’t settling for an underachiever. She still wants to leave her mark on the world, and HE seems satisfied to make his mark on the living room carpet. *Sigh* My ambitions remain platonic, but maybe I’ll bump into Colleen at the vet’s office from time to time. As Bogie said, “We’ll always have parasites.”

expert interview with

Dr. Vernet A. Joseph

Productivity Master Steve Sipress: Dr. Vernet Joseph. Welcome, and what a pleasure it is to have you here on the Rhino Daily Podcast! Vernet Joseph: Absolutely, Steve. Thank you so much for having me. Steve: The pleasure – I assure you – is not only all mine, but it’s absolutely going to be all the listeners’ as well. I’ve got to start out with I love this acronym you have where you talk about life, and you talk about living life to the fullest. So, please enlighten my audience about exactly what you mean by that.

Vernet: Oh, man, thank you so much. What a great question, Steve. When I began to think about life, I’m always asked this question; How to live a life worth living? And this is what I tell people: “Produce from your place of passion, and live life to the fullest by maximizing your time, your effort, and your abilities to make the world a better place.” So, when I talk to people, I tell them this: “Every day that you wake up, you have the opportunity, you have the choice to make a difference. The question is: Will you exist, or will you actually maximize you?”

4 I RHINO MONTHLY I www.SteveSipress.com

I know it sounds like a cliché, “maximize you,” but when I speak of living your life to the fullest, I’m literally saying, “Maximize your time, make great use of your time, in every area of your life, make use of your resources, and learn how to capitalize on opportunities in every available system given to you.” People often complain, Steve, about what they don’t have, and they never pay attention to what they do have, what’s right underneath their nose. And that’s their time, their energy, their efforts, their abilities, their skill, and their knowledge. So if you’re going to

EXPERT INTERVIEW

live life, then you might as well live it to the fullest. Steve: I love it! And that’s this acronym you have – or am I off track? – where you talk about Legacy, Influence, Focus, and Execution. That’s “LIFE,” that’s L-IF-E. Legacy, Influence, Focus, Execution. If people are focusing, or waking up like you say and thinking about that every day, man! How can you not make the most of your day? Vernet: That’s it right there. When we begin to talk about the legacy side of that acronym, Steve, we’re talking about not just doing something for yourself, but every action has a recourse or a reaction. So you’ve got to do something for tomorrow, for the people who will follow you, for your family, so on and so forth. Everyone on this Earth has influence, but the question is what type of influence do they have? So utilize your sphere of influence for something positive, something uplifting, something productive, and then, depending upon what you’re doing, you have to be focused. And that’s where most people get off track, Steve. And that’s why I love the Rhino Daily Podcast, because you give it to us real and raw each and every day: Something that we can focus on.

I’ve never eaten an elephant, I’ve never even seen it on a menu, I’ve never thought about eating it. They’re big and huge and strong and powerful, and I have all the respect in the world, but eating them? No. But I jest of course. I know what you mean. So let me challenge you with this, Mr. Unbelievably… if people can’t tell already, you’re unbelievably positive, you are focused on the right things, you are helping so many other people for so many years all around the world to live better lives. But come on now, I’ve just got to ask you: There’s got to be a day where Dr. Vernet Joseph wakes up and he just doesn’t feel the greatest. There’s something gets you down, something happens. Life happens. What do you do when life comes at you and some big challenge really challenges you to get you down, strip away all the acronyms and the whatever and… Let’s just be real: What do you do when life really comes at you? Vernet: I’ll be honest with you Steve. Life comes at us each and every day. The question is what lens are we looking through? So when I think productivity, and when I think of when I’m down, honestly, I always look backwards: If I made it this far, I know I will get through this, too. There’s nothing on this Earth

January 2018

that is so bad that it would cause you to stay – notice I said stay – in a stupor or a slump. You may not be able to figure it out, but here’s what I love: I can call upon great friends like you if I’m having issues in business. If I want to know more about something that I don’t have the knowledge about, I can reach out to people who do. So when I find myself in a slump, the first thing I do is reflect on past victories. It helps me to remember that this too will pass. And what I often tell people, Steve, is that productivity literally is a state of mind. But it must be perceived as possible prior to it being achieved. So when you’re having what they would call a bad day, remember there’s still good in that bad. Because while you’re going through the bad, you’re learning more about yourself, whether it’s a weakness, whether it’s something that you need to capitalize on, whether it’s someone that you need to reach out to, we can go on and on with this. But, the short and skinny, Steve, about when I’m not having a good day, the very first thing that I do is reflect on past victories and ask myself, “What is the lesson that I’m going to learn today?” Steve: You see, I knew I could not possibly even come close to tripping

People often ask: “How do you eat an elephant?” You eat it one small piece at a time. So focus is absolutely essential. I’m talking about tunnel vision on what you say you want to accomplish, and then execution. We can have all the smarts that we want, we can have all the degrees on the wall, you can have all the text knowledge, but unless you’re willing to put it into application through execution, nothing will happen for you. So, you’re absolutely right, Steve: Legacy, Influence, Focus and Execution is what I mean when I say “Live LIFE to the fullest.” Steve: Right on. I appreciate that. And by the way, when someone asks me, “How do you eat an elephant?” I always say, “I don’t want to eat an elephant.” [laughter] What are you talking about?

EXPERT INTERVIEW

you up. Because every time I’ve met you, you are among the most positive people on Earth. You mention reaching out to people if you’re in need, you’re certainly somebody that I can reach out to either physically, either actually, or just by going to your website, or tuning into videos you’re teaching, anything, your books... Because that will help me to overcome whatever ridiculous thing I think is bothering me. Just being around you for two seconds helps me overcome that. And that’s why I think it’s great for my listeners – and I know they think it’s great – that you’re here on the Rhino Daily Podcast. So, let me ask you this one: I know that you have a quote that you live by daily. Can you share that with my audience? Vernet: Oh man, absolutely. Thank you so much for allowing me to. This is a quote that I picked apart from a few different things. You probably heard it said differently, but I’ve arranged it to utilize it for my life. It says that we are all equal in time, but separated by how we produce with it. Now, time is something that is a precious commodity that we can’t get back. The past five, 10 minutes that we may have been talking today, we can’t get that back. So, we’ve got to learn how to maximize our time, become – watch this Steve – the owner of our time, and make sure that we’re not wasting our time. We have to learn how to invest our time.

I’ll be honest with you Steve. Life comes at us each and every day. The question is what lens are we looking through? So when I think productivity, and when I think of when I’m down, honestly, I always look backwards: If I made it this far, I know I will get through this, too.

separated by how we produce within it. Steve: Man! Were you standing next to me when I started the podcast? That is exactly why I started it. People know my story, and I’m not here to talk about me, but my mom was a teacher, and she always taught me: If you learn something, you ought to teach somebody else what that thing is. So that is why I love having the Rhino Monthly Magazine, the Rhino Daily Blog, the Rhino Daily Podcast, I do a Facebook Live video every day. I love sharing what I

So remember this: We are all equal in time, meaning we all get the same 24 hours, but we’re separated by how we produce within it. See, you’re on your podcast because you decided one day that you want to affect millions of people and infect them with your brand, your mind, and the mindset of top achievers from all around the world. If you hadn’t have taken that time, whenever that was, some years ago, we wouldn’t be on this podcast today. So remember, everyone that’s listening: We are all equal in time, but we’re

learn, and I’m thirsty, I’m always learning new things and meeting new people. And I love sharing that with other people. That’s why I love having you here. So we have come – unbelievably, look how fast that just flew by – we’ve come to the end of today’s episode. But I’d like to get into, tomorrow, I know you have what I believe my audience will agree is an interesting philosophy about the days of the week. Can we talk about that tomorrow? Vernet: Absolutely. Looking forward to it.

“Steve is all business. He is an unbelievably smart, brilliant, brilliant man. I can't say enough about him. Steve has put probably more, I would say, thousands, and thousands, and thousands of dollars... I mean, I probably can't even put a true figure on it, because it keeps coming back, and keeps coming back, just more and more money all the time.”

“One suggestion that Steve gave me, well, without question, put $300,000 more in my bank account. And we are going to be using it forever. This is not a one-time deal. We’re going to be using this idea that Steve helped us with... and we’ll be using it until it doesn't keep working like it is. And so, the value over time could literally be way over even the $300,000 number.”

Mary Forte Bensenville, IL

Keith Lee Seattle, WA

“He's helped me learn how to market my business, and today I can say that we're more successful than we've ever been… I needed to learn how to market the business better to create more revenue, and that's what Steve has helped me with. The financial difference is considerable. We've probably close to doubled our revenues. We're on track now to do another close to $500,000 more than we did last year. So that's awesome. I do owe all of that to Steve.”

GOAL SETTING: NOT YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

By Lee Milteer

Goal-setting is not like New Year’s resolutions. For one thing, most people don’t keep their New Year’s resolutions, so there’s a sense of, “What’s the point?” New Year’s resolutions tend to focus on the “don’ts”: don’t smoke, don’t eat, don’t be late, don’t lose your temper. The goals we want to set today are on what you want to focus on, what you want to create with your life, what’s positive. I think goal achievement works because it is governed by

specific mental laws of the mind. What you focus on is going to expand, meaning that which you give your attention to and what you believe will become your reality.

“The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in what direction we’re moving.”

This is the mental law of cause and effect. Your thoughts always affect your future. When you give your brain a clear cut direction on where to aim, it’s like an airplane. It has to go in the direction that it’s aimed to reach its desired destination. One of my favorite quotes is from Oliver Wendell Holmes:

Think about it. If you truly want to be a millionaire in every sense of the word, you have to take responsibility for choosing your own destinations in life. Consider your thoughts to be like seeds planted into your future. There are no limits except for those you set on yourself.

GOAL SETTING: NOT YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

A lot of people, when they come to me for one-on-one coaching, say, “I’ve set goals before, and I haven’t succeeded. I feel frustrated. Why should I set goals?” The truth is that the goals are only good for one thing: It’s what you become along the way because you set them. If you aim for the stars, but you still only hit the moon, you’re still an outrageous success. Goals help you keep score by giving you something specific to go for with your life energy, and they also provide feedback to let you know if you’re succeeding. I think the problem people have is the importance they attach to those goals. If the goals are to be beneficial, they have to be guided by something that inspires you with courage, creativity, and persistence. The law of goal achievement is truly the law of the mind. What you can conceive of, believe in, and confidently expect for yourself MUST become your experience. By setting goals, you tell your conscious and subconscious mind to look for those things that will help you reach your goals. I like to call goal setting “straight line thinking.” Think about it. The shortest distance between any two points is obviously a straight line. When you set your goals, you’re single-mindedly focusing your attention to that which you really want to achieve or have. One of the questions I constantly hear is, “Do I have to write my goals down?” Yes. If you don’t do that, it doesn’t finalize your desires. The purpose for writing goals is to focus your life energy on what you want. Personally, I find that most people are actually afraid to write their goals down. They’re afraid that if they put them on paper and don’t achieve them, they’ll feel like a failure. In truth, just the opposite will happen when you write your goals down.

January 2018

YOUR BRAIN IS A COMPUTER. You’ve heard that saying, “Garbage in, garbage out.” We have the power to direct our conscious mind in such a way that we give orders to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind knows only to take orders from the conscious mind and carry out these orders with precision and exactitude. Before you set a goal, you have to realize that with your mind. You’re using mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial energy at all times. You want to focus your mind so that your energy is being used in a productive way. Right now, we are experiencing our past choices. Tomorrow is going to depend on what choices we make today.
