THE LION COMES ROARING AGAIN!
To say that Singam had the audiences in a frenzied state would be saying very little. A film that kept audiences all over the country enthralled for days and weeks, Singam was Hari’s magnum opus indeed. Following the 2010 film is its sequel, Singam 2, which stars Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Vivek and Santhanam. Slated for a worldwide release on June 14, 2013, the film will also be dubbed in Telugu, as Yamudu 2. Anushka, Suriya, Vivek, Vijayakumar, Nassar and Radha Ravi will be reprising their original roles, while Hansika Motwani comes on board in a pivotal role. The film has been shot in picturesque and beautiful locales in Kerala, Tuticorin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Malaysia, Kenya, Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, Tirunelveli and Karaikudi. With foot-tapping music from Devi Sri Prasad, Suriya’s arresting and maginificent screen presence and the sheer wow factor that the whole Singam franchise brings with it, this King of the Jungle is all set to lord over the box office all over again! Sanjjanaa is on a roll. It is not just Sandalwood, but the tall, svelte actress has her hands full in Tollywood as well as Mollywood. Today, Sanjjanaa like most top actresses, is living out of a suitcase, travelling across South India and foreign locations as well, to shoot her movies. The Telugu film industry never imagined that a guy from a small village like Tadepalligudam would redefine the definition of cinema with his very first film Gulabi. Krishna Vamsi chose to walk the unconventional way. From the time when he was doing his PG in agricultural economics, he was always crazy and mad about films. He started doing third party business in films, which meant buying and exhibiting films, then became a light boy, then a camera assistant, then an unofficial editor and finally landed as an assistant to Ram Gopal Varma which changed his life and perception towards cinema. Here is all that the humble and intense filmmaker had to say to Swarnalata about his journey as a director over years, his perception of cinema and more!

Films that you can see again and again: I have one film in almost each language. In Telugu, it is Alluri Seetaramaraju Films that have inspired you and imapcted you: So many! To be precise, more than the films it is how the maker has made the film that inspires me. For me, different films and different filmmakers are inspiring for a certain time span. Right now it is Tony Scott, Guy Ritchie and Korean filmmaker Wong-Kar-Wai. Directors who inspire you in Telugu cinema: K.Vishwanath garu and Bapu garu Contemporary directors whose work you admire: Yeleti Chandrasekhar, Sekhar Kammula, Krish and Rajamouli, technicality-wise. A Telugu hero whom you want to direct and why: Chiranjeevi garu. Not because of his stature or image but for his capacity and ability as an actor and of course, the flexibility of his body. I admire the way he understands things around him on a personal level and deals with them. He is the best, the most perfect definition of an actor. I feel the audience has just seen 10% of him, there is so much more that is still latent. A film you would like to remake: Oh thousands! To name a few, Mackennaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Gold, Lawrence of Arabia and Guns of Navarone. Looking back, one film of yours that you feel could have been made better: All of them. I feel none of them given me 100% satisfaction. It happens with all filmmakers. Ask this of Shekar Kapur about Bandit Queen, and he would say the same! Your definition of cinema: I donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know. I am still searching. One word that comes your mind when I say cinema: Music. For me a film is music. I donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know how I to explain this to you. It may sound weird, even I find it a bit weird, but when I think of a film I always hear nice music playing in my mind, slowly unveiling the characters and the plot. I always try to choreograph my scenes musically. Everything about a scene, from the character, composition, lighting, to even the fights, constitutes a musical rendition for me. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s probably why I like film songs a lot. One film you have made that you feel closely matches your creative vision for cinema: None. I feel it is yet to be made. The day I make a film which will be my true reflection, I will make it my last film.
