GUEST SPEAKERS Presentations from several guest speakers have been organised for Year 11 and 12 students. These will be held in T1 at lunchtime on the dates advertised. Students are strongly encouraged to make note of these dates and attend to find out about the different institutions and their courses and to ask questions. AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (ACU) New degrees - Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Education; Bachelor of High Performance Sport ACU will offer a suite of new courses in 2019 designed for specific career paths. The Elite Athlete and Performer Program (EAPP) is designed to give you that support, and encourage excellence in both your sport/performing and academic life. https://www.acu.edu.au/student_experience/student_life/elite_athlete_and_performer_progra m UTS: NEW PATHWAY TO PHYSIOTHERAPY- SPORT AND EXERCISE SCIENCE NEW MAJOR UTS are offering a new major- Exercise Therapy- in the B. Sport and Exercise Science. This is a guaranteed pathway into the Masters of Physiotherapy. All Sport and Exercise courses are run at the new Rugby Australia/UTS building at Moore Park, which has state of the art sporting facilities and labs and they also offer internships working with the rugby teams, Sydney Swans, NRL and AFL. YEAR 10 STUDENTS: UNSW ENGINEERING WORK EXPERIENCE - 25th-29th JUNE The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CVEN) in conjunction with its Industry Advisory Committee will be holding a work experience program to promote engineering career options to high school students. The program will be run during Week 9 of Term 2: from Monday 25th June to Friday 29th June, and will be available to Year 10 students across NSW. The program will allow students to experience engineering projects firsthand across six areas of the civil and environmental engineering field, namely:

• Coastal and Port Infrastructure • Structures and Design • Construction and Project Management • Water, Wastewater and Environment • Road, Transport and Geotechnical Engineering • Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Daily field trips will be led by UNSW CVEN staff supported by engineering professionals to a range of engineering sites across Sydney, followed by an afternoon debrief and short report writing session at the UNSW Kensington campus. Students selected for the program will be required to meet daily at 8.50am, at Central Station, with each day of the program finishing at approximately 4pm at UNSW. Students must be available to attend the full five day program. UNSW CVEN is interested in receiving applications from Career Advisors on behalf of students who are self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and who have a strong mathematical ability. Importantly, students must have an interest in pursuing a career in engineering. Any interested Year 10 students should see Ms Hakos as soon as possible to receive an application form.

WESTERN SYDNEY UNI Bachelor of Architectural Design The Bachelor of Architectural Design will be available for mid-year entry in 2018 and then for 2019. The degree provides a combination of skills and knowledge required by contemporary architects. Successful completion enables students to apply for entry into the new Master of Architecture (Urban Transformation) program at Western Sydney University. See https://www.westernsydney.edu.au

SPEND A DAY AS A STUDENT AT MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY Macquarie University are opening their doors on Tuesday 17 April and Wednesday 18 April (attend one day only) to Year 11 and 12 students. They will have the chance to experience what a day in the life of a Macquarie student is really like. On the day, they’ll be able to:  get a feel for our campus  sit in on lectures and demos  experience practicals and tutorials  choose their own subjects and plan their own day  ask lecturers and current students questions about life at Macquarie. The program is called Bright Futures and offers a unique combination of eye-opening experiences based around subjects studied at UTS including Architecture, Communications, Creativity, Engineering and Technology. All workshops cost $100 and are open to Year 4 - 8 students.
