Dear St. Andrew’s Community,
Happy Thanksgiving! The holidays are near and I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for our extraordinary school community and for the opportunity to empower students to discover their unique value and embrace their full potential. This time of year always calls for reflection, and the following pages reflect accomplishments, traditions, and celebrations from last school year, highlighting the tremendous impact of our donor and volunteer community.
As you know, the school adopted a new mission statement, Chapin Tradition, and guiding principles over the summer (see them shared on page 5). I love this final product. Our mission in particular resonates deeply with me because I have the privilege of seeing our incredible faculty and staff deliver this mission every day—and I see the wonderful things our students accomplish because they feel a sense of belonging and value here at St. Andrew’s.
I loved the design process of creating these new materials because we had the opportunity of hearing so many of your stories. We learned of your connection to St. Andrew’s and what made our school and community so special for you. I remember vividly talking to one of our staff members who was also a parent of a student. She told me that St. Andrew’s “showed students how valuable they were.” I was struck by her words. They were so simple and yet so true. And I knew exactly what she meant.
St. Andrew’s empowers students to discover their unique value and embrace their full potential. I have been fortunate to witness and be part of this for the past 9 years, from the perspective as the head of school but also as the father of two St. Andrew’s students. My eldest son graduated with the Class of 2024 and my youngest son is currently a junior. As a parent, I see the transformation they have experienced because of St. Andrew’s kind and inclusive community, and the dedication and care of their teachers. This is truly a gift and I’m so grateful.
Here at St. Andrew’s, students are encouraged to be themselves, take risks, and challenge themselves academically, athletically, artistically, and socially. Every step of the way, our community is there to support them. And it doesn’t stop when our students graduate. Our alumni often share that St. Andrew’s prepared them for their next endeavors and showed them how to give back and live a life of service. This is a true testament to the power of a St. Andrew’s education and to the legacy of our founder, Rev. William Merrick Chapin. Father Chapin’s legacy, the Chapin Tradition, connects us to the school’s rich history, focuses us on the present, and guides us into our future.
Because of you and our community’s commitment to empowering students, St. Andrew’s future is bright. Thank you for your continued support. I’m honored to be on this journey with you as we nurture our next generation of leaders.
This holiday season, I’ll be thinking of you and your family, wishing you warm and meaningful celebrations with loved ones. Cheers!
Warmly,
David Tinagero, Head of School

“Our decision to contribute both time and money to St. Andrew’s is driven by the profound impact the school has had on our children and our family as a whole. We believe that by giving back, we not only support the school but also set an example for our children. We want them to see the importance of generosity and community involvement and to understand that even small contributions can have a significant impact. Our time and money are invested in St. Andrew’s with the hope that it will continue to be a place where children feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.”
The Webster family resides in Randolph, Massachusetts, and their connection to St. Andrew’s is an integral part of their lives. Their son Ckyson and daughter Nia are sophomores and board in the dorms. Natacha serves on the Board of Trustees for Camp Onaway, a technology-free, traditional summer camp for girls. She is also on the Board of Trustees for South Shore Charter Public School, and volunteers on St. Andrew’s Gala Committee. She is the Vice President of Provider Operations at Teladoc Health, where she compassionately contributes to the advancement of virtual healthcare, ensuring patients receive the best care possible. Carlos is a Controller at Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, where he diligently manages the financial operations to maintain stability and growth. He also volunteers at Ellis Early Learning Center. In addition to their involvement with St. Andrew’s, the Webster family volunteers at their church, Children’s Ministry.
Meet the New Trustees
The St. Andrew’s Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome three new members. In partnership with the head of school, the St. Andrew’s Board provides leadership and a framework within which the faculty and administration work to advance the mission of the school. Their connection to St. Andrew’s is deep and personal. As committed volunteers, trustees offer their services, wisdom, and skills to support the community of students we serve. They champion the school as it is now and visualize what it can be in the future by serving on working committees focused on development, education and student life, endowment, facilities, finance, and governance. St. Andrew’s is honored to have the expertise, insight, talents, and wise counsel of these new members.

As trustees and co-chairs of the Development Committee, they led the school through a significant increase in annual giving and through a capital campaign effort, detailed in this report. Our Mission, Chapin Tradition, and Guiding Principles
As part of our 10-year accreditation for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), working with lead consultant Antonio Vivia from Leadership+Design, we redesigned our mission statement, Chapin Tradition, and guiding principles over the course of last year.
Using a human-centered design process, we collaborated with the Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, and sought feedback from our current students and families, alumni and alumni parents, and donors and supporters. Thank you to our school community for playing an important role in this process!

Celebrating the Chapin Campaign
For more than 130 years, students and faculty have lived, taught, and studied together in our shared community. Over time our stunning campus and the way we educate our students has evolved. Innovative and intentional facilities improvements uphold our school’s traditions and support the modern, transformative educational experience of our students.
In 2018, our visionary Board of Trustees embarked on a capital campaign effort to enhance our campus facilities and build our endowment resources. Even as the school weathered a pandemic, our community rallied to ensure that our school’s future remains bright and that our students have robust resources to discover their unique value and embrace their full potential.

Investing in Our Campus Home
St. Andrew’s has changed and evolved over time to meet the needs of the community and our constituents. Always forward thinking, the leadership of the school puts students first, considering how to provide an educational environment and a home that builds character, provides an academic foundation, builds curious thinkers, and instills a sense of giving back and serving others. The much-needed modernization and a new library infrastructure have already transformed the environment for student inquiry, collaboration, and research that matches the academic learning demanded by the International Baccalaureate.
As the heart of the school, these new spaces can now provide the best learning experiences and environment to support the needs and, ultimately, the success of our students.

Funds
The endowment is an essential part of the school’s future, as it provides a steady stream of income into the yearly operations of the school. These funds support the school’s operating budget, including faculty compensation, building and classroom maintenance, student scholarships, library operations, visual arts, and more. All existing funds can be supported with a donation at any time. In order to establish a new named fund, the minimum gift requirement is $50,000.
Individuals who are interested in making an endowment gift are encouraged to contact Director of Advancement Kerrie Donahue.
St. Andrew’s Preservation Fund
In November 2023, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the St. Andrew’s Preservation Fund to address campus and facilities depreciation. It will help us to prepare for and manage the costs associated with maintaining our campus and allowing for better financial planning, helping to maintain our campus property value, and ensuring that necessary maintenance or replacements are carried out without significant financial burden or disruption to St. Andrew’s School.
Our beautiful Barrington campus is home to 31 historic and new buildings that are a signature of the St. Andrew’s experience. This visionary fund was started with $1.1 million in gifts and the Board’s goal is to grow it over time. Any donors interested in learning more about this fund or how you can contribute to its growth, please contact Director of Advancement Kerrie Donahue.

“We are very grateful for the experience Chris has had at St. Andrew’ s and the impact it has had on him. We feel fortunate to have found St. Andrew’ s, and hope that with our support other families can also experience the warmth of the community and the impact of the opportunities the school provides.”
The Thibaults joined the St. Andrew’s community in 2018 when their son Chris started in sixth grade. Chris is now a senior and recently completed his final season on the cross country team, having served as co-captain. Chris’s older sister Madison is a sophomore at Trinity College Dublin in the honors law program, hoping to study abroad in her junior year at Boston College Law School. Julie was an occupational therapist for many years and is now a RN at Miriam Hospital in Providence. Matt is CPA and CFP at Pathstone, a wealth management firm which acquired Rex Capital Advisors, of which he was a partner since its inception in 2003. Matt enjoys donating his time by serving on St. Andrew’s Golf Classic committee and volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America. Both Matt and Chris are Eagle Scouts. The family enjoys spending time together boating and skiing in Wolfeboro, NH.
The Saints Gala: A Night of Shining Stars, was a stellar night of connection and celebration at the beautiful Five Bridge Inn in Rehoboth, MA on April 25. We were honored to recognize the White Family and their legacy of giving back to St. Andrew’s. The evening began with live entertainment by our student performers, who were followed by The Eden Casteel Trio. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner by Easy Entertaining and a spirited auction led by Travis Landry of Landry Pop Auctions.
At the gala, we announced a special recognition in honor of the White Family’s leadership and commitment to the school—the naming of our new White Family Commons in Hardy Hall. We are pleased that this signature space will be part of our students’ experience when they begin their St. Andrew’s journey in middle school, just as Board of Trustees Vice President and alumnus Ben White ’08 once did!

Every year, St. Andrew’s hosts two fundraising events (a spring gala and summer golf tournament) to celebrate our community and raise support for our school’s mission and programs. If you’re interested in serving on either planning committee, please reach out to Director of Advancement Kerrie Donahue.

13th Annual Golf Classic (August 2024)
We had a perfect summer day on August 12, with blue skies and a light breeze from the bay. Golfers enjoyed lunch on Rhode Island Country Club’s patios before an amazing day of golf, sportsmanship, and fun in support of St. Andrew’s mission and programs.
When the tournament finished, golfers enjoyed cocktails, conversation, and dinner together, followed by a live auction and program featuring alumnus Theo Montalbano ’18. Theo, who started at St. Andrew’s in third grade, was a member of St. Andrew’s golf team, and made his return to Rhode Island Country Club by golfing in this year’s tournament. He shared a special memory from his senior year demonstrating the kindness and integrity of his fellow teammates—some of whom were in the room—and how that made an impact in his life.

“It’s important to me to give back to organizations that have impacted my family and make a difference in the lives of others. St. Andrew’s was the perfect educational setting for my boys. It allowed them to learn in a small classroom setting with individualized teaching, and to have the opportunity to learn and live with students from around the world. St. Andrew’s has been a philanthropic priority for me and including the school in my estate plans felt like the right next step to give back and make a significant impact on future students.”

Audrey Kupchan started her relationship with St. Andrew’s when her son Dan DeLuca ’12 joined the student community in 2007. Audrey was involved with the St. Andrew’s Parent Association (SAPA) and, after her youngest son David DeLuca ’14 graduated, she joined the Board of Trustees. During her ten-year tenure, Audrey served as Co-Chair of the Development Committee and as a member of the Education and Student Life Committee. Audrey is an internal medicine specialist formerly with Coastal Medicine and is a clinical assistant professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She has been a lead volunteer with her synagogue and is a longstanding member of a women’s debate club. She resides in Barrington with her husband Sam Havens.
