February 16, 2021

Dear SJA community, We hope this finds you staying warm and safe during these wintry days. At Saint Joseph Academy, our campus has remained closed and without power since early Monday morning. We have been in constant communication with Brownsville PUB and unfortunately there is no definitive timetable given for consistent and reliable power to be restored. As a result, the SJA campus will remain closed and classes will remain online until the school is assured that there is power on campus and it is safe to return for inperson instruction. We will be sure to notify the school community immediately once we know more. All athletic practices, games and school extra-curricular activities are also postponed until power is successfully restored on campus. We know these are stressful times and many of our faculty, staff, and families are without consistent power and/or internet, which makes distance learning a real challenge. Please know our faculty, staff, and administration are going to be flexible and compassionate during these difficult days and that our top priority is that everyone is safe. Should you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further, please feel free to contact SJA President, Michael Motyl (mmotyl@sja.us) or Principal, Mrs. Melissa Valadez (mvaladez@sja.us). The school will continue to keep you updated on further developments via text message and social media. Warm blessings, SJA Administration
