ISIS: Remaining & Expanding By Calvin, V2AT

Where do they have to go if almost the whole Middle East is extreme Islamic? Many American citizens want American troops to fight against the expansion of ISIS. It seems like they never run out of money. The reason: they sell oil from the fields they occupy.

Syria and Iraq – The war in the Middle East keeps on going. They already occupied large areas of Iraq, Syria and Libya. Their motto: remaining and expanding. ISIS will keep territory, and expand. Many journalists got killed by ,,Jihadi John’’ or Mohammed Emwazi, a British who joined this extreme terrorist Islamic group. Can we stop this group? The Curds of countries around ISIS are trying to stop them, while Europe and America are doing almost nothing at all. I chose this subject, because I like news which is serious and you can talk a lot about it. Of course it’s not possible to put all information in the Courier; I chose the most important things. ISIS was created in 1999 as Al Qaeda in Iraq, with the goal to have a caliphate, a state with a leader who is successor of Prophet Mohammed. Millions of people went away of their home cities, because of the fighting there. They get homeless and the countries nearby need to care them because the western countries do almost nothing. Now, ISIS controls a big part of Iraq and Syria. Their goal is bigger than that; the group almost wants the whole Middle East! People who are Shia Islamic or Sufis Islamic should or change religion they want, or get killed.

Many Shia Islamic mosques, buildings, Iraqi government buildings of the occupied countries are bombed. In July 2014, ISIS made a video showing how they treat things they don’t like. It shows that they just break statures of more than 4000 years old. Things that make history just have to disappear, because it’s not Islamic, but Assyrian. How does Barrack Obama look at this group? Well, he says he is not prepared to fight the group easily. In a speech about ISIS last year, he said this after a British journalist James Foley got tortured and killed last year: "We need to make sure that we've got clear plans, that we're developing them. At that point, I will consult with Congress and make sure that their voices are heard," Obama said. "But there's no point in me asking for action on the part of Congress before I know exactly what it is that is going to be required for us to get the job done." He finds ISIS a non-religious group which only wants war, territory and oil. Obama tries to attack ISIS from the air, but it’s very difficult. Not because the group is very dangerous, but because of a worldwide economic recession. Because ISIS has the ability to expand into Europe, the Dutch government sent six F16s to Iraq to fight there. I find ISIS very radical and a kind of crazy. Why should you take land where millions of people live and have to leave, because they are afraid of war or getting killed, because of religious reasons? I think everybody should know that it’s time to take action.

Dear readers, On behalf of our Sophomore group, I would like to thank you for reading the third edition of the St. Martin’s Courier. The second year groups worked on their stories during one of their weekly Maatwerkuren, to broaden their horizons and to improve their English writing skills. I am happy to report that the pupils were able to put together an issue with a wide variety of topics. As has been the case from the start, this Editor in Chief – and the amazing trainees Jana, Koos, Tiffany & Stan - helped them along the way, but did not interfere in their writing process or what they were writing about. This also means that there might be mistakes in grammar and spelling, but I hope you will agree that this in no way affects the quality of the articles. You can also find our up-to-date stories, pictures and videos about our bilingual department on Facebook. We appreciate your Likes and we love your comments, even the ones in Dutch. The English Only rule is just for our pupils. 

The Conflict in Ukraine Most people in the western part of the country want better relation with western countries and would like to join the EU, while in the eastern part most people want Ukraine to stay allied to Russia.

“There are no armed forces, no Russian ‘instructors’ in South- Eastern Ukraine. And there never were any.” Vladimir Putin By Sven, V2at

It has been almost a year now since the annexation of the Crimea by Russia and still there is a lot of tension over what has happened and is still going in this part of the world. A lot of nations, especially Western nations like the US, feel threatened by this aggressive move. Many people think that Putin wants to restore Russia dominance over the eastern bloc and restore the old Soviet Empire or the USSR (which fell in 1991). But let’s start from the beginning how this conflict started and how it became such a big conflict in the world. The biggest problem that Ukraine is facing, is that its ethnically divided. This is because when Ukraine was under the rule of the Soviet Union a lot Soviet leaders, like Stalin, displaced the people living there. So what Stalin actually did was move a lot of Ukrainian people out of Ukraine itself and let a lot of Russians come into Ukraine and settle there. This tactic is called ‘divide and conquer’. This worked in favour of the Soviets but not so much for the native population living in that area. So in our time Ukraine is divided into the western part, where a lot of people are ethnically Ukrainian, and the south-eastern part where a lot of people are ethnically Russian.

In 2010, Viktor Yanukovych was elected president but Yanukovych was more friendlier towards Russia than to the EU and other western nations. In November 2013 he declared that Ukraine would become more allied with Russia instead of becoming part of the EU. This lead to the start of riots in the capital city Kiev. These grew and grew until the police and military were used to stamp down the riots. After dozens of protesters were killed, Yanukovych fled the capital and fled to the more safer part in the east and eventually exiled to Russia. Not long after Yanukovych was removed, Russian troops invaded and secured the Crimean peninsula in order to protect ethnic Russians. Though Russia is denying the fact that are Russian troops on Ukrainian soil or that they are supporting pro-Russian separatists. Then there is still the question about the crash of the MH17. Most western nations blamed pro-Russian separatists while Russia blames the Ukrainian government. The question is still unsolved while most people think it was because the separatists shot it down. On the 16th of March there was a referendum on Crimea joining Russia and %95 of Crimean voters supported the referendum and 1 day later, on the 17th of March, the Crimea was annexed by Russia. On the same day, sanctions were made by the US president, Barack Obama, against Russia which is hurting the economy of Russia but still Putin has not backed down from his aggressive policies against Ukraine. With many questions still unanswered, no one really knows what will happen with Ukraine. Will Russia invade and conquer the rest of Ukraine and make it a step towards a bigger plan of restoring the USSR? Or will Putin back down because of the sanctions? I hope that there will come peace to Ukraine so it can look towards a time of prosperity.

Love Your Brain Foundation By Ivy, B2at

When Kevin Pearce was recovering, free skier Sarah Burke also got in a horrible accident and died, the x-games remembered her then and still she is a very inspiring girl even she is not here anymore. In one year, snowboarder Kevin Pearce went from standing 1st place on podiums at the X Games to learning how to brush his own teeth again. The one thing that never changed was Pearce’s commitment to the snowboarding community. On December 31, 2009, while riding the slopes of Park City, Utah Kevin Pearce nearly died during the final training for the 2012 Winter Olympics practice trying a cab double cork (a double backflip with a twist) to beat Sean White. I’m going to write about The Love Your Brain foundation and Kevin Pearce because he has inspired me ever since I first stood on my snowboard. He helped people all over the world to process what has happened to them. I think that is a pretty big deal and he cannot be forgotten, his name still means “community” in and beyond snowboarding. 49 days before the Olympics Kevin Pearce hit his head in the Half pipe of Park City, he slipped into coma for 6 days, and suffered a traumatic brain injury from which he will never fully recover. He is not able to ever go freestyle snowboarding again because the chances of falling on his head are too big. He would probably be dead if his ‘Frends” – who say “there’s no ‘I’ in friendship” – didn’t helped him as they have done. Kevin has been airlifted to the University Hospital in Utah where doctors scramble to save his life as his family, his father the glass and pottery Artisan and entrepreneur Simon Pearce, his mother Pia, and brothers David, Andrew and Adam fly from their home in Vermont to be at his side. his friends that competed in the X-games had stickers saying: I ride for Kevin or KP – which is his nickname- his friends helped him through this rough time.

He set up a foundation that is called the Love Your Brain Foundation to tell his story and at his turn be an inspiration to other freestyle snowboarders and skiers to wear a helmet.

“That’s how this sport is so different, and that’s why I’ve been so drawn to it. It’s not just about me,” “That’s what I tried to keep throughout my whole career – a real community feel.”

The Love Your Brain foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for people affected by brain injury, a campaign dedicated to providing resources and support for the 1.7 million people in the U.S. who suffer traumatic brain injuries each year, as well as their families. The campaign also works against head injury prevention, Telling athletes to wear a helmet, and going to schools to inspire children, providing information on health insurance for athletes, and instructions on what to do if you hit your head. It’s the first step for Pearce's new perspective into something larger than podiums or gold medals. Instead of competing in the X Games in 2013, he’s provided commentary for them with ESPN. He’s maintained his influence on the sport. Organizers selected Pearce to carry the torch during the 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies of 2014. “I have a huge opportunity to help these kids with brain injuries who don’t have a whole snowboarding community, and don’t have the best family in the world behind them,” says Pearce. “If I can do that, that really is going to help me make this life feel worth living.”

To inspire even more people he made a movie, called The Crash Reel. It’s released at January 14th 2013 by Lucy Walker. The Crash Reel combines 20 years of footage with pictures, home videos and interviews with his “Frends” and family. The movie shows Kevin Pierce rebuilding his life up again, and at the same time building up the Love Your Brain foundation. “I wanted to get to experience this with my best friends, really share it,” Pearce said. “I wanted it to be about everyone.”

Lob’star Makes Kids With Cancer Smile By Anne, V2at

This article is about Lob' star which is an organisation of volunteers who are trying to make a vacation week for children with cancer. They organise a lot of activities for these children to do together with their family. I am writing about lob' star because the son of a friend has died because of cancer. I knew him really well so I miss him sometimes. A friend of my parents is the main organizer of Lob' star and because of him we get in contact with this organization. Now I have helped together with my parents and little brother for 3 years. This year we are again volunteering. The whole week the volunteers have organised a couple of activities that the children are going to do. For example the fire department comes and they set some activities up that the families can do. After a few days (day 5+6) the volunteers are going to split the parents and the children apart. They do this with the meaning that the parents have a time to rest because the parents have to be constantly ready for their child and that can be really stressful. The parents that I have met find it every year difficult to let their children alone by the volunteers which is very understandable. The parents get a wellness spa to have some rest. The volunteers also spend time with the eventually brothers and sisters of the child with cancer.

The volunteers talk to the siblings and they try to understand that it must be tuff to have a brother or sister with cancer because those siblings are always a little bit afraid that their brother or sister will die. The program will look like: Day 1: meeting the families Day 2: getting to know each other Day 3: time to for the parents to trust the volunteers Day 4: time to for the parents to trust the volunteers Day 5: the volunteers will split the children and parents apart. Day 6: the volunteers will split the children and parents apart. Day 7: everyone goes home. Some facts: The first Lob' star week started on Saturday the sixteenth of October in 2006. From that moment on the organisation decorated Rolduc (the place where it is held) every year. Lob' star also has a 'Kids club' which has started in 2013. The club has been set up for children from the primary school to get in contact with children from their own age who also have cancer. In this way they can communicate with children who exactly understand how the other one.

more awards and nominations than any other individual in history. Disney also won seven Emmy Awards and gave his name to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the U.S., as well as the international resorts, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. Walt Disney began drawing cartoons for his school newspaper. Later he wanted a job by drawing political caricatures or comic strips for a newspaper but failed.

This article is about Walt Disney; The Man Behind The Mouse. We have chosen to write about him because we like Disney movies. From Steamboat Willie to Big Hero 6, it was all started by a man who kept pursuing his dreams against all odds. Walter Elias Disney known as Walt Disney was born on 5 December in 1901 in Chicago, USA and died 15 December 1966 because of lung cancer. Walt Disney was an American business magnate, cartoonist, animator, voice actor and film producer. But he is most famous for founding The Walt Disney Company. He and his staff created numerous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Disney himself was the original voice for Mickey. During his lifetime, he received four honorary Academy Awards and won 22 Academy Awards from a total of 59 nominations, including a record of four in one year, giving him

Facts about Walt Disney Walt Disney based Mickey Mouse on his pet mouse. Mickey Mouse’s original name was “Mortimer” Walt Disney was dropped out of high school to join the army. He was the original voice behind Mickey Mouse Neither Mickey Mouse nor the famed “Walt Disney” signature were actually ever drawn by Walt Disney himself. The famed signature is what is known as a “stylized version” of Disney’s. As can be seen on legal documents, Disney’s own signature was not nearly as exciting or intricate. In fact, rumour had it that Walt couldn’t even copy the famed signature. Walt’s apartment, where he often worked is still above the firehouse on Main Street in Disneyland. Walt Disney, the man who achieved his dreams by doing what he loved even when people said that he needed to stop dreaming. Like Walt Disney said ‘All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them’ And that is what he did.

Let’s Prepare for Rochester Day 1 – Blue waters shopping centre By Joline & Lynn, B2at

Going to England is not the most normal thing in a second year’s class. The TTO’ers from this year are really excited about their upcoming trip. Last year we went to Canterbury for 24 hours, but this year will be different. We’ll be in England for four days this time. We’ll be visiting Rochester this year… Something you should really do before you leave is prepare. That’s why we chose to make a useful guide to lead you through our upcoming days in and around Rochester. We’ll give you some tips which might be useful and give some great places which you really should visit. Let’s get started! At first, you’ll be in England for 4 days, which is around 5 hours and 16 minutes’ drive, which is around 279 miles away, so no return home possible… Maybe that’s a good reason to pack your back in time. You’ll need some stuff to survive. Maybe it’s a good idea to start making a check list. Put everything on there what you need or want to bring. We’ll give you some basic cases you should bring. Here we go! Passport / ID-card (make sure it’s still valid!!) Food package for the first day Clothes for four days Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc.)  Phone

If you’re made for shopping, this is the place for you to go: Blue waters shopping centre. This amazing shopping centre is only 28 kilometres from London’s centre. The floor plan is a triangular shape with 330 stores, including 40 cafés and restaurants, and a 13-screen cinema. Day 2 – Canterbury

   

What is a trip without knowing what to visit? That’s why we made a guide which will help find some great stuff you should visit.

Wondering what to do in Canterbury? Take a good look around you and go and visit its local centre. Are you the recent shopaholic? Go shopping (for example in Primark)! Are you more interested in other stuff? Then you could for example visit Canterbury’s cathedral.

Our Visit to Rochester Monday 20th April

Today we went on our trip to England. We left from SMC College in Heerlen at 10 am. We went by bus and also by boat. At first we went by bus and drove through Belgium and had a small 20 minute break at a restaurant in Brussels. After we had eaten something we again hit the road. Our destination was the port of Calais, where we arrived after a drive of 5 hours. The trip was very long, but we managed to make some fun with DJ Swanska and of course a lot of sweets and crisps. At Calais we went past the border check without any problems. The trip on the ferry from Calais took about one hour before we arrived at the port of Dover. From Dover we went by buss to Blue Water shopping mall, where we had some free time. Here we were able to buy things that we would need at our host families or just some nice things which we would like to take back home to The Netherlands. At 6:30 pm we left the shopping mall and arrived at Rochester bus stop, where we met our host families. From there we went home with our families and prepared ourselves on a week full of fun and happiness. By Levi & Luc, V2at

Tuesday 21st April

My roommates and I had to wake up at 7 am And we had to go to the bus at 9 am. We got an introduction and we got an assignment. The assignment was that we had to ask questions to

people on the street about Rochester. We had English lessons in Rochester from 11: 40 am to 12:05 pm and then we left by bus to Canterbury. From around 3 pm to 5:45 pm we had spare time and walked through Canterbury. We have already been there once in the 1st class and now also in the second. It was a really nice weather we walked around the town and have seen the big Cathedral of Canterbury from the outside. And I have seen the house weavers, it was lots of fun in Canterbury. Then we departed from Canterbury and went to our host families. By Daniel, V2at

Wednesday 22nd April

In the morning we first had English lessons and we were divided into 3 different groups taught by 3 different teachers. We learned about synonyms, syllables and jokes, really bad jokes. It was pretty boring but what came after that paid off so we don’t mind. After that we had a long bus drive to the City of London, there we went with a boat from Greenwich Pier to the Tower of London and we stayed there for about 15 minutes and didn’t do anything except for watching. In the afternoon we went to Covent Garden and on the way there, we saw some of London’s famous sites like The London Eye, the Parliament building with the Big Ben, which is actually the name of the clock, the tower itself is called Elizabeth Tower. At Covent Garden we got 2 hours of free time and we think everyone spent their time right. The city was very busy but it was nice to see. It was about 6 pm when we got back to our host families. Because of the traffic we arrived a bit later than expected, at around 8.15 pm. By Calvin, Sven & Toon, V2at

Friday 24th April

Thursday 23rd April

We started this morning at 9.45 with an English lesson. At 12.15 the lesson was finished and we went to London by bus. When we arrived we had a small break from 15 minutes so we could take some pictures of the Big Ben and the London Eye. After that we went to the Queen’s house (it was very big!) and we took some pictures there. After that we went to a museum where you can see historical things (not history but like monkeys, reptiles, stones, etc. (not alive)) after one hour we left and there was a lot of traffic so we got to Blue Water (a big shopping mall) late. We shopped there one hour and then left back to the host families. Tomorrow we go home and we really don't like it! ď Œ ( It was a very nice week! By Fenne & Zia, B2at

Soraya, Fatima and I had packed our suitcases and bags the night before to save time. But still we had to get up very early, about 06.15 a.m. because we had to be at the bus stop at 07.45 a.m. After we had breakfast and got ourselves ready, we left for the bus. The bus trip to the ferry was about 1 hour, and on the boat was about 1,5 hour. The trip back from France to the Netherlands was the longest and most boring one. We had a bus stop at a gas station around 16.00 p.m. (with a Pizza Hut haha đ&#x;?•đ&#x;?•đ&#x;˜?đ&#x;˜?). Everyone was very tired, and just wanted to go home. The long week had been a lot of fun but also made us exhausted and tired. Around 20 past 5 we arrived back in Heerlen. Turned out it was warmer in Heerlen than it had been in Rochester. I was glad to sleep in my own bed Friday night hahaha. I loved the trip to England (especially the shopping haha), and I think it was a new experience for everyone. By Demi, B2at

Dover & Canterbury

Dover Castle

They always say that a picture says more than a thousand words. Well, here are a couple of pictures that should tell you everything you need to know about our trip to Dover and Canterbury in April. You can find more pictures and a video of our time in beautiful, sunny England on our official Facebook page.

The first year groups went to Dover and Canterbury for their first tto trip abroad. Not just to relax: there was work to be done. For one of the assignments the pupils had to write an article about Dover Castle. Lynn from V1at wrote the following in her report: On the 23th of April we visited Dover Castle. It was really nice and I liked the castle. We visited the castle because we were with B1CT and V1AT in Canterbury on a day trip. In and around the castle we had to do some activities like answering questions about the castle. We were in groups of 5/6 to do the activities. There are some interesting facts about the castle for example did you know that Dover castle the largest castle is in England, and between 2007 and 2009 English heritage spent 2.45 million pound on recreating the castle’s interior, also Dover Castle attracts more than 300,000 visitors every year. There are also some facts about the past like Dover Castle has secret tunnels and during the Second World War they were used as air-raid shelters and Henry VIII visited the castle during his reign and upgraded the defences. The last fact is that in 1216 by Louis VIII of France discovered the secret wartime tunnels. There is a lot of information but I am not going to write it all. I really liked the activities in and around Dover Castle because you could learn from them and because you had to do it in groups it was sociable and not boring. I also liked it that we could go inside and explore all the things in the castle by our own. All by all the castle was really interesting and I learned a lot from it.

Our Traineeship Experience I improved in my teaching skills and most of all I had a lot of fun. The class I got to teach was great and I was lucky I got on so well with them. It was a great experience and I can’t wait until next years’ internship.

We were very lucky this period, because we had four amazing trainees to help us with this issue of the St. Martin’s Courier. On behalf of the enire newsroom, thanks for your help! Here is their side of story. Did they enjoy their time at Sintermeerten? Traineeship First we should introduce ourselves. We are Koos Kostjens, Stan Hoofs, Tiffany de Wind and Jana Janssen. We’ve been interns here for about three months and we would like to share some of our experiences at Sintermeerten college. Jana: For my first lesson I was incredibly nervous. Not only that the pupils wouldn’t like the lesson, but also if I would like teaching myself. I study at Fontys and there you have to pass every exam, but even if you have and you excel at all the courses you still have to like being a teacher. After the first lesson was over, I couldn’t be more sure that I made the correct decision. I love teaching and especially English. I have taught class V1at for eight weeks and enjoyed every lesson of it. Koos: Just like Jana, I was extremely nervous for my first lesson. Nervous I would be horrible at teaching and nervous that the pupils wouldn’t like me, but in the end it went really well and it continued to go really great. I learned so much during these three short months.

Stan: The past few weeks I really learned a lot. Teaching was a lot of fun, but there were also a lot of obstacles to be overwon. Sometimes it was very difficult to let things go and go into teaching mode while other times it was really easy. Overall I enjoyed my time here a lot, Dennis was a great SPD and he gave some of the best advices I have ever received. The St. Martin’s courier was lots of fun to help with. B2at was a great class to teach, and I’m really thankful for some of the patience they had to have with me as well. Thanks for all the great times and life lesson, and who knows? Maybe till next time. Tiffany: In the past few weeks I learned more than I have in an entire lifetime. I enjoyed every second of my internship and have come to believe that this is what I am meant to do for the rest of my life. I am very lucky to have had Dennis as a SPD. He gave me the confidence I needed to successfully finish my internship. I especially liked guiding the pupils while they made their articles for the St. Martin’s courier. Seeing all their ideas come to life was a very special thing. A special thanks to B1ct for being the best class in the world! We helped the students when they were writing their articles for the St Martin’s Courier. It was a lot of fun to help them with their learning process. We were astonished by their marvellous ideas for their articles. During the lessons they developed their articles through a creative and imaginative way. We can’t wait to read the final newspaper!

Inside Roda JC Season 2014/2015 By Vince, B2at

I’m Vince and I’m going to write about Roda JC Kerkrade, a second division football club from Limburg. I chose to write this because Roda is my favourite football club. And I’m very interested in the club. Roda jc – Fc Den Bos: Roda was playing at home in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium (PLS), they wore the anniversary shirt for their 100th year of being an official football club ( the 100st year of SV Blijerheide one of the four clubs that eventually became Roda). But to get back to the game: Roda started strong and opened the game with a beautiful header of our very own Henk Dijkhuizen. It was from a free kick taken by Marc Höcher, after that Marc Höcher almost got a goal himself but he just hit the woodwork. Then the first change of Fc Den Bos, A hard shot but a great save from Bram Verbist. Then out of a corner Guy Ramos almost scored a header but the ball just went over the goal. Then again a corner, Dijkhuizen misses it but Biemans can bring it back for the goal and out of nowhere Dijkhuizen comes back in with a good timed tackle and works the ball in the goal! 2-0. Second half. Roda starts like amateurs and with a miscommunication in the

defence Fc Den Bosch almost scored a goal but the ball just went over. Then Roda comes back in the game with some good chances but they couldn’t score a goal. Then a 15 minutes before the game ends Den Bos comes in with a great outplayed attack, the first shot just hit the goal post but Verbist the goalkeeper of Roda was still lying on the ground when Den Bos scored the rebound. After the 2-1 Den Bos keeps getting stronger and stronger, with a few big chances for the 2-2 but they couldn’t find the back of the net. But then, almost at the end of the game Den Bos went full in and even their goalkeeper stood up frond for a corner, but Roda could get the ball away right in the feet of Pluim, He shot from +/- 50 metres and he almost scored, but the goal-keeper was almost on time to save it but also Rutjes followed the ball and with a tackle he worked the ball in. 3-1! Roda won that game, but they didn’t play very good. Hopefully the next game will be better. RKC Waalwijk – Roda JC Roda started the game strong and had a lot of chanches to make the 0-1 but they couldn’t score. They had nice combinations but it didn’t work out. Then the second half RKC had their first change of the game and it directly went in 0-1 after that Roda began to lose control of the game and RKC scored the 2-0 and the 3-0. Then Roda had one big change to come back in the game but they missed it. It was in one word a miserable game, Roda played bad from start to end.

Roda JC – Fortuna Sittard This game is maybe one of the most important games of the season for both the teams. A bigger rivalry between two clubs is not found in Limburg, The supporters hate each other. Before the game there where a lot of M.E. Just to keep the it safe. There was a really great atmosphere at the W.S.U ( West – Side – Ultras) That is the biggest supporters club of Roda JC. But it went miserably wrong Roda already came behind Fortuna after only a few minutes of playing 0-1. The Fortuna fans went wild. And then it went from bad to worse when they scored the 02 And then the shit hit the fan and the fans booed at Roda. And maybe it was the most painful evening of the year. End score : 1-3. MVV Maastricht – Roda jc Kerkrade. On this rainy Sunday, Roda had their second derby in two weeks’ time. MVV Maastricht was this time the opponent. Roda started fairly strong and also made the first goal, With a failed ball back to the defence of MVV, Jansen saw that and went straight to the goal, the ball landed on his feet and with a nice dribble he got around the goalkeeper of MVV and made the 0-1. Then thirteen minutes in to the game, MVV got a corner and Roda defended it but the ball came in to the feet of a player of MVV and he could simply score. Then Roda was attacking but Jansen get kicked and asked the referee for a free kick (in a shouting way) and the ref. gave him a red card*. After that the game continued and the MVV came to score again. 2-1. And like a lot of other games Roda started playing like amateurs again. So later in the second half of the game MVV scored the 3-1. The second time in a row Roda lost a derby, both with 3-1 and both with Roda playing like amateurs. The card was given with the reason : He spit in my face, and so I gave him a direct red card according to Jeroen Sanders. (This was proven to be wrong by the KNVB, and the card was withdrawn)

Fc Eindhoven – Roda jc The game started off with a small change for FC Eindhoven, but it could easily be picked up by Verbist. Then in the 32nd minute, the first real opportunity for Roda, but van Hyfte shot it to high and it went over. In the 37th minute Eindhoven got a nice change to score, but a beautiful save from Roda’s goalkeeper Bram Verbist. Roda attacking again, but for the 2nd time in a row Van Hyfte shot the ball to high and it went over. Then in the second half, Paulissen made a nice play, passes it to Cicillia who gives it back, and boom there is the 0-1 for Roda. Then Paulissen again with a great pass to Gyasi, who gives it for to Cicillia, but the keeper pushes it out of play. 62nd minute, a corner for Roda, it land perfectly for Bart Biemans who can score, 0-2! After that there weren’t any real chances for both of the team, and Roda jc wins with 0-2. Roda JC – FC Volendam Roda JC plays at home against Fc Volendam, Roda won their last game with 0-2 while Volendam lost with 3-4 against Jong Ajax. Roda starts the game badly, and by uncoordinated defending Volendam can make the 0-1 very quickly after the beginning. Then Roda has a corner, and just like the week before Bart Biemans can make goal out of it! 1-1. Not much later Faik can take a free kick and passes it to Jansen, but the change was wasted. They still get a corner out of it but unfortunately the keeper can get the ball. Then a good pass from Faik to Jansen who gives it to Cicillia who lets it go for Lagourih, but the keeper was in his way of scoring. Then Monteyne who wanted to give a cross, accidently scored! A player of Volendam made a tackle to the ball but makes a own goal! 2-1. Then in the 2nd half Volendam get a chance to score, but Ramos makes a good tackle, Volendam claims a penalty but the referee doesn’t give them one. And it even gets worse for Volendam when Cicillia gives a pass to Gyasi who can easily put it in the net. 3-1. In the last minute of the game Volendam got a free kick and it went in on a beautiful way: 3-2

Zivkovic made his 2nd of the evening and it is 3-0 after only 16 minutes played!! Then Roda comes back into the game with a nice cross of Ramos and then the goal of Faik. 31. Later Demouche and the new player of Roda JC Arjen Swinkels came in the field. And then the first time that Demouche hits a ball he almost scored. Our MVV Football Lives By Job & Youri, V2at

We also watch other football matches like Champions League or Europe Cup or even amateur level at RKVV Voerendaal (the old club of Youri) or VV Hellas (the old club of Job). At the end of 2014 we both were invited by the KNVB of South Limburg. We started in a preselection with 20 players and ended with 16 players. After the selection was made we played a tournament in Germany against the national team of Germany and Belgium and played matches against Fortuna and Roda of a year older (u15). This was a nice experience for both.

We are Job and Youri and we are going to tell you something about our sport, Football! We started playing football when we were between five and six years old. Job started playing at Klimmania TC and Youri at RKVV Voerendaal. Currently we are playing football at a professional football club of MVV Maastricht. We are training three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Saturday we have a match and sometimes have to travel to the North of the Netherlands, for example to Zwolle: PEC Zwolle. On Sundays we train for ourselves, so in one week we are five days busy with our sport, in our opinion very nice because when we are studying the whole time after school and can go to the training it is like forgetting the learning part for a while ď Š. Our training sessions are mostly divided into four parts: first we have a warming up, secondly we do pass exercises, then we go and finish on goal and last but not least a game between our own team. Sometimes our trainer let us do sprint exercises, just because he also played at MVV and did not come till the first team because he was not fast enough. The exercises are hard but we know where we do it for. Football is a sport where you play 11 against 11: one goalkeeper and 10 players. Job is playing as a right midfielder and Youri is playing as a defender. At our age (13/14) we are playing two times 35 minutes, at the first team they play two times 45 minutes.

In 2014 we also played in the stadium of MVV against the u14 of Feyenoord Rotterdam. It was for the quarter final of the KNVB Cup (best 8 teams of the Netherlands), we lost with 3-1 because Feyenoord is a big club and is very good. Our dream also is to become a professional football player so it was very nice to feel what playing in a stadium is like. The MVV stadium has a capacity of 10.000 seats. Normally there are only 4.000 people looking, one exception was when they played against Roda which is a derby and was not played for 50 years anymore. That is the reason why the stadium was sold out. As we already said we are currently playing at MVV under 14 years old. At the moment we are playing a competition at the highest level (second part of highest level) of the Netherlands against teams like PEC Zwolle, sc Cambuur and fc Dordrecht. We are doing pretty well at the fifth position with 10 points out of 6 matches.

The Fighting Spirit of Fernando Ricksen By Levi & Luc, V2at

Fernando Jacob Hubertina Henrika Ricksen was born on the date of 27 July 1976 in the province of Limburg in the city of Heerlen. In 1980 he started to play football and attend his membership at the football club of EHC. In 1986 he moved from club and started to play for RKONS. 8 years after he started playing football people started to recognise him as a good player and also a hard worker for the team. He had a big talent for foot-ball. This talent made sure that Roda JC paid attention to his progress. In 1988 Roda offered him a contract and he would be able to play in the junior teams of the club. In 1992 he moved from Roda to Fortuna. In the season of 1993/1994 he played his first official match for Fortuna Sittard. The following 3 seasons he played for the FCS. After his fourth season in Sittard he moved to the club of AZ. There he played in the honour division for the club as a right-back and as a right-mid. He did very well in the following 3 years/seasons.

We chose the topic of Fernando Ricksen because he was a very good player whose career has been destroyed by the terrible disease of ALS and there will be no man in Limburg who will not know his name, Fernando Ricksen. He is one of the players who has been a lot in the media because of his magnificent plays but also because of his thug life. He is a really good example of a hard working player who always plays for the team and not for him. We will tell you everything about his famous story how his football career came to an end. If you say Fernando Ricksen every man in Limburg will think of a hard-working player which always played for the team and never gave up until the last whistle made his way through the stadium. He had a good live and a good career until this one decisive moment which changed his whole life.

In the season of 2000/2001 he moved to one of the best Scottish football clubs called Glasgow Rangers. The season of 2002/2003 was a very special one for Fernando Ricksen. In this season he didn’t only play for the Rangers but also for the National Dutch football squad! He was selected for the squad in the year of 2000. Then he played as a substitute for the squad, he came in the squad for Paul Bosvelt. This was the practice match against Spain on 15 November. He played in this season 12 international matches for the Dutch squad. This was one of his most famous moments in his career. Another famous moment of him was in the season of 2005/2006 Zenit St-Petersburg hired him from the Rangers, he was disbanded from the team on the evidence of bad behaviour. After spending some time in Sporting Change Clinic, Fernando made his way back in to the team of the rangers on 31 July 2006. On 9 August 2006 Fernando was rented back to Zenit. He played there till the year of 2010 when he moved back to his old youth love; Fortuna Sittard.

He played there until 2013; on 25 May he played his goodbye match at Fortuna Sittard. On that day fans, friends and old- colleagues brought a day of honour to his long and good career. They did this because he has the terrible disease of ALS. Ricksen even scored out of a penalty in that match. After this moment they made the former N-side of the stadium of Fortuna The Ricksen-side. On this side there sit the most hard-core fans of Fortuna. Also at the stadium of the Rangers they change a side to a Ricksen-side, because he spend also a long period of his career playing for the Rangers. On 30 October 2013 Fernando Ricksen made public to the outside world that he had the disease of ALS. He did this on the show “De wereld draait door. Everyone in the Netherlands and also many fans of him in Scotland were shocked by this news. This meant the end of his career. ALS is a nervous system (neurological) disease that causes muscle weakness and impacts physical function. Star Citizen, The Upcoming Spacesim of 2016 By Wiebe, Daniel & Toon, V2AT

The universe is still in development, but when it comes out they want it to be as real as possible. With a real economy (with AI’s at the top, but you can change the economy yourself). So if there is a need for gold, you need to go to some planets containing it, and mine it. Than bring it back to the company needing it. But if someone else was faster, the price of gold will drop, making you earn less.

We chose this article because we like gaming. We also chose this subject because Star Citizen is an upcoming game that not everybody knows about, but is Epic! It is a space simulator in a very big universe, expected to be released in +/- 2016. It will also a feature an FPS mode and many more… Some Current Information about the Game: Current status: alpha Release date: +/- 2016 100% crowd funded Money raised: 72.000.000 February 2015 Starting goal: 500.000 About the Game: Star citizen is still in an alpha status. When it will be released it will feature a: Persistent universe, dogfighting module, Ship hangars, around 100 planets which you will be able to explore, and a campaign. Chris Roberts always wants the community to be up-to-date, so he will always tell what they are working on at the moment, for instance new ships are always shown to the community.

A major part of Star Citizen are the ships you can both land them and fly in them and have a fully designed interior when finished. The developers also give every ship its own character. But it’s not only the character that makes ships different. There are ships in different sizes and how many people can operate one ship. The ships can also be damaged this will reduce effectiveness of the ship for example if you hit a part of the ship it will really be damaged or destroyed and making it harder or impossible to operate your ship They are now working on a first person shooter but not just a shooter. They want to make different mechanics then the first person shooters of the now. They want a realistic first person shooter that means realistic dynamics. If you would for example get shot in your hand you will have significantly decreased accuracy and when you are shot in the leg you can’t walk that fast anymore this will make an interesting dynamic in the game that games have done before. You can also interact with your environment like turning off gravity so there is no gravity anymore in the space station so you can float or fly around in the space station this can change the gameplay and strategies significantly.

The persistent universe is an open and dynamic universe where you can decide where you want to go and what you want to do and you influence the universe and economy. There are many different roles like: trading, illegal trading, pirating, bounty hunting, mining, racing and exploring. There are so many gameplay options and you can also fully customize your ship to the play style you want to play and your choices will also change the universe. For example if there are lots of pilots that raid the transport ships factories don’t have enough materials to make their products so it will be more expensive and you also need more bounty hunters to take the pirates down or protect the ships and prevent them from raiding the transports so they can bring materials to the factories. System Requirements: Minimum requirements: Intel CPU: Core i5 2500k 3.3GHz AMD CPU: Phenom II X4 940 NVIDIA GPU: GeForce GTX 680 AMD GPU: Radeon HD 7970 RAM: 8GB OS: win 7 64` Direct X: DX 11 HDD space: 50 GB Ultra requirements: Intel CPU: Core i7 3770 4-core 3.4GHz AMD CPU: FX 8350 NVIDIA GPU: GeForce GTX 780 AMD GPU: Radeon R9 290X RAM: 12 GB OS: win 8 64 Direct X: DX 12 HDD space: 50 GB

I want to build a Universe. “ Writer of the game: Dave Haddock, this is his first project as a writer. But not his first project, as he also worked on Call of Duty: United Offensive, True Crime, and the Doom 3 expansion. Composers of the game: Pedro Macedo Camacho, an award winning classical music, film and video game composer. Current Possibilities of getting into the game: How to get in the Alpha/Beta/Game: at the moment you can get into the game for 55 USD/44 euro’s. Platforms: windows, Linux Engine: CryEngine (4th generation) Mode’s: single player and multi-player Genres: Space trading and combat simulator, first-person shooter Console support: Star citizen will never come to consoles because Chris Roberts (the director of the game) said that consoles will always be underdeveloped and that pc will always be better because you can upgrade the specs.

But this is not the only possibility, as you can buy much larger/cooler ships for a much higher price, the prices at the moment are from 44,- till 14.520,-. This was our article about star citizen. We really like the game and we hope you enjoyed it as well. The game is still under development, so for more information you should definitely check out their site! League of Legends By Kevin, B2at

Developers of the game Two main protagonists for the popular Warcraft III mod, Defense of the Ancient: All-stars, Steve "Guinsoo" Feak and Steve "Pendragon" Mescon are involved with Riot Games in the process of making of League of Legends.

Information about the game League of Legends is a multiplayer game. You can do it in different modes for example: the PVP mode then you will be online against other players, the co-op mode then you are also online but your enemy’s are bots and lots more of game modes. And you have different champions. Champions are characters you play with in an game you have different kind of categories you can be a mage or a long rage shooter, a fighter and a tank it depends on what you prefer you can main a champ that means that you play the champ a lot and that your good with it for example my main is champ is Aatrox is a melee champ so it’s a close range fighter. You also have lanes to play on you can go top, mid or bot (bottom) lane and you can be a jungler that is a champ that support every lane possible to be honest I’m the worst jungler ever so as I say it depends what you prefer. When you begin with this game it will be quite difficult but you will learn it sooner or later it depends how much you play the game but believe me it is a fun game just try it out.

Updates of the game League of Legends is a game created six years ago there a lot of updates since then the graphics are much better now and the game is better because we have more champs more skins, maps, game modes and lots more if you want to know it just play the game. My opinion about the game To be honest I’m quite addicted to the game, I play it every day. When you play the game you just can’t stop playing the game. I play like 2 or 3 matches a day and one match is about 45 min a match so I play it a lot. I hope I have convinced you to play the game.

If you are curious about what my main champ looks like here is a picture of him. In my opinion I’m quite good with this champ most of the time I win my lane with him so he is quite awesome.

The Order 1886 By Keith, B2at

The order 1886 is a brand-new game from a cooperation between Ready at dawn and SCE Santa Monica studio. It is a third person shooter for single-player. I have chosen the game because you do not seen many games over that period of time. It release is February the 20th About the game. The game is short it has average 10 hours of gameplay with all the side missions. The game has some crazy weapons like termine which is instant kill but aiming with this game sucks and you almost never die with this game which is unreal but the graphics are amazing there is a lot of detail and stealth kills changes every time depending on the area you are in. the storyline is catchy it is a story about the knight order in great Britain set up by knights to protect their country against any threat like lycans (which are wolf like beast) who are attacking the government commanded by the rebels, they think . The story takes place in Whitechapel and London.

Aspects. There are collectibles you can pick up in the game if you want to know more about personas in the game some you can play on a Phonograph or there are letters of photographs or newspapers. My opinion. The order 1886 is too short for my likening but the graphics are really good in this game. The story of the game is interesting and there develops a twist near the end of the game. The personas in the game have real British accents which makes it more realistic that the order takes place in Great Britain. There should have been free roaming because it is a beautiful game.

Total War Attila By Patrick, B2at Campaign Total War Attila has just like most Total War games a huge campaign. The Total War Attila campaign has a total of 56 factions of which 16 are playable. There are a lot of well-known factions like the Western- and Eastern Roman Empire, The Huns, The Saxons and a lot more. The campaign goes all the way from Spain to the Middle East. The campaign map looks very realistic in my opinion. The campaign starts in the year 395 AD. One turn in the campaign is one season. Total war Attila is a game created by Creative Assemble. It is a new game, its full release came out on February 17, 2015. I personally really like this game. One reason for this is that you can choose a lot of different factions (tribes, hordes or empires) to play. Total War Attila is a strategy game, just like most Total War games. In my opinion Total War Attila is a really big improvement on other Total War games. What is the game about? The point of Total War Attila is a lot like other Total War games, your goal is to conquer land and make your empire larger. To do this you need to fight wars with other factions. You can train units which consist of 120 men in your own territory and send your armies to war. Every unit has its own strengths and weaknesses which makes every unit almost unique which I like a lot.

Fire Fire is a big aspect of Total War Attila. In previous Total War Games it was possible to lit buildings on fire, but that didn’t really have any purpose. In total War Attila fire can spread very quickly through trees and buildings. In Total War Attila fire could destroy whole cities. In my opinion this makes the game even more realistic. My Opinion Personally I think Total War Attila is great. The campaign map looks realistic, the battlefield looks realistic, the AI (Artificial Intelligence) is way better than in the previous Total War Games and there is a large number of factions you can play. I hope that Creative Assemble keeps updating Total War Attila and make it even better.

Total War Attila VS Total War Rome II Total War Rome II was the last game created by Total War. It was a big success, but is Total War Attila even better? I think the graphics are way better in Total War Attila than in Rome II and the battlefields and cities look way more realistic in Total War Attila because of that. In both the games you can see info of a unit at the left bottom of the screen. In Rome II you only see numbers, for example attack: 40, if you are new to the game you won’t know if this is good or bad. In Attila you see for example attack: high. That makes the game is easier to play for new players which is a nice addition to the game.

#4 China

#3 Australia China is one of the largest countries in the world and has a rich history. It’s no wonder that there are lots of beautiful sights in China. It is impossible to visit them all during your trip. Therefore, I put my own personal favourites in a row. • I really love Australia, it is a big country and it attracts lots of tourists. It is the world's sixthlargest country by total area. Some famous places in Australia are: •

Sydney Opera House: Sydney Opera House is Australia's most famous landmark, the building has really extraordinary shapes, that makes it recognisable. 5 things you can do at the opera house: Attend an Event, Take the Essential tour, Take a Backstage tour, Visit the Gift and Souvenir shop & Relax in one of the Bars and Restaurants the Heart Shaped Reef: the Heart Shaped Reef, in Hardy Reef, has become a famous Queensland landmark. It is a heart-shaped reef, from above it looks like an island. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park: Australia’s great Outback icon, Located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, its name means ‘meeting place. The rock’s traditional owners are the Anangu people, who believe that the rock is too sacred to climb and ask visitors not to do so.

Forbidden City: in the centre of Beijing, the 'city' consists of 9,999 rooms where the emperor and his staff once stayed in. Located on the Tiananmen Square where a number of other attractions are located. Zhangjiajie: a city with over a million inhabitants, pretty normal for Chinese standards, in the southern province of Hunan. The eponymous national park is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in China. Zhangjiajie is composed of uniquely shaped high stone mountains picture below says it all. Did you know that the avatar movie was filmed here? Chinese wall: Almost naturally, the Great Wall of China is on our list. A true wonder of the world and something you absolutely must have seen during your journey through China. This giant structure was built to stop invasions from Mongolia, now a major tourist attraction. The Great Wall is from several places to visit in China, but the easiest is a tour book from Beijing. Terracotta Army: The most important archaeological find of 1974 was undoubtedly the discovery of the Terracotta Army. The impressive collection includes over 9000 unique life-size statues of soldiers and horses. Definitely the highlight of Xian city and also one of the highlights of China.

#6 Thailand

#5 Mexico

Mexico is a country with a important history, because of the Maya’s. The two most visited places in Mexico are Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza. These places both are Maya cities/temples. •

Chichen Itza: Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the Northern Maya Lowlands from the late classic through the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the postclassic period. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the Northern Maya lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural defussion. Chichen Itza is one of the largest of the Maya cities in the Yucatan Peninsula. Teotihuacan: Teotihuacan was a preColumbian Mesoamerican city located in a sub valley of the Valley of Mexico Apart from the pyramids, Teotihuacan is also anthropologically significant for its complex, multi-family residential compounds, the Avenue of the Dead, and the small portion of its vibrant murals that have been exceptionally well-preserved. There’s a beautiful sea life with loads of different fishes. You can snorkel there also, and nice places to snorkel are sunrise at Sian Ka’an, Tulum, Adventure Park Thrills in Riviera Maya.

Also one of the countries I really want to go is Thailand. I really like this country because of its beautiful nature and its culture. Thailand is a country at the centre of the indochina peninsula in southeast india. The capital city of Thailand is Bangkok and it’s located in the middle of Thailand. You can do lots of things like: •

The Grand Palace & Wat Prakeaw: If there is one must-see sight in Bangkok, it's the dazzling, spectacular Grand Palace, undoubtedly the city's most famous landmark. Built in 1782 and for 150 years the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government the Grand Palace continues to awe visitors with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail.

Phang Nga Province - North of Phuket: Located north east of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay is an almost unique site in the world (only Ha Long Bay in Vietnam presents some similarity). A distinctive feature of Phang Nga Bay is the sheer limestone cliffs that jut vertically out of the emerald green water.

Floating Markets Near Bangkok: Bangkok's colourful floating markets are familiar to many through the ubiquitous photos in tourist guides and travel books. Even though transactions are more concerned with tourists rather than locals these days, the floating market boats are still piled high with tropical fruit and vegetables, fresh, ready-to-drink coconut juice and local food cooked from floating kitchens located right on the boat.

#8 Spain

#7 Los Angeles

One of the places I would love to go to is Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a really big city in America, it is near the coast on the west side of America. Los Angeles is the second-largest city in the united states, after New York city, and the most populous city in California. Los Angeles is known for its Mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, celebrity culture, traffic, and the film and television industry. •

If you are in Los Angeles you should go to Venice beach Venice Beach has long been known as the kooky Mecca of California, and while it's been getting more than a fair share of mainstream tourists, the area nurtures its eccentric spirit

You should also go to DisneyLand because you’re never too old for Disney. This legendary theme park is packed with cool things to do, spread over seven lands. Stroll down Main Street USA to experience turn-ofthe 19th century America, head Westwards at Frontier land and tune into the music of New Orleans square, minus the floods and booze. All your favorite cartoon characters come to life in dream-like environments.

Many people dream of being Julia Roberts shopping on Rodeo Drive, but few can afford to buy from the array of high-end designers seen in the film Pretty Woman. So windowshopping is the order of the day. Along the $200-million ersatz European cobbled walkway Two Rodeo, browsing tourists mingle with serious spenders.

Paella, siesta, fake Gucci, and a beautiful sea you got it all in Spain . •

Seville: Art, monuments with the World Heritage designation, popular festivities, and an abundance of fun and high spirits await you.

Valencia: A city that combines tradition and modernity beside the sea. And do not miss sampling its delicious rice dishes!

Madrid: Fun, culture, good food... whatever you’re looking for, you’re always guaranteed to find it in Madrid.

Barcelona: It's modern. It's cosmopolitan. It's Mediterranean. It's Barcelona, and it has a whole world to show you.

#9 Dominican republic

The Dominican Republic is one of my favourite islands. It lays in the ocean next to north – America. I’ve been there myself three times and in my opinion it was awesome. The climate is very nice there, it is very sunny but not too hot either, the beaches have very white sand which I really like. You can do lots of things in the Dominican Republic like: •

Santo Domingo: The Zona Colonial: The Zona Colonial is the historic heart of Santo Domingo. This square mile of pretty streets. It has with shops, restaurants and cafes, many housed in colonial-era buildings. It is also a real neighbourhood, where families sit outside their homes enjoying the cool of the evening. Costa del Coco: The “Coconut Coast”, with its reef-protected white beaches and clear waters, attracts the country’s most tourists . the beach is about 64 km. the endless vistas of sea, sand and coconut trees are very beautiful.

One of my favourite places in the whole entire world is Sicily, Sicily is an island near Italy. I really love this place because I have already been there and it was a really nice Holliday. I went to Trapani, that is a city on the western side of Sicily, Trapani is near to the sea and it has a street with a lot of really nice shops. The capital city of Sicily is Palermo that´s is a really nice city. Palermo is a city near a harbour and Palermo has a lot of nice shops and there are lots of markets with fruits and vegetables. There is also a volcano on Sicily called the Etna. The Etna is 3550 metres high and it last erupted in June 2014. What you can do in Sicily: • • • •

You can go to beautiful beaches You can to shopping You can go snorkelling And you can just relax

Snorkelling: you can snorkel amazingly in the Dominican Republic. Because of the clear water you can see the colourful coral reef very well. The fish have all different kinds of colours, it is really beautiful.

Become Famous on Social Media in 1 Week! By Demi, B2at

Day 4 Today is the big day, you have to post the video. And no, not only send it to your grandma or upload it on YouTube. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Vine: any social media you are on. Tell other people, in real life and WhatsApp. This is the only thing you have to talk about the whole day. The. Only. Thing. On. Your. Mind. Also send it to famous people who might give you a shout out or upload it. Think about Paris Hilton, and other famous people. Maybe with the same talent as you.

So.. How to become famous. You have to do something to become it. Obviously we’re not the Kardashians who became famous without an actual reason. Your deadline is one week. We haven’t tried this so we don’t know if it actually works. But I wish you luck Day 1 You have to decide for yourself how you want to get popular on the internet. Maybe you have a secret talent, like singing or something weird. You have to offer people something that comes above other people. Do something like singing (if you can’t, save someone’s ears), maybe dancing or when you can an extreme act (or fail). You can also set a trend, think about ‘the dress’. Some think it is blue and black, and others see it as gold and white. Believe me, if you are better than others, they will notice you. Day 2 Today you have to make the video where you are going to act. That’s the only thing you have to do today. Make a GOOD video, even if you have to do it 20 times over and over again. Day 3 You are going to edit your video today. Add some special effects and make it as cool as possible. Remember again; MAKE YOURSELF STAND ABOVE OTHERS. A good program to use is iMovie or Windows Live Moviemaker.

Day 5 Wait and eat ice-cream. That’s what you have to do today. Nothing. Just check your social media and see your number of views going up. Don’t let yourself be down by one mean comment. You don’t care, it’s life. Life is a B. If you want more views send it to more people and talk even more about it. It’s simple. Day 6 Or you made a huge failure with only 5 views. Maybe you have 483 views and nice comments. Or a famous person gave you a shout out and you have 839264923 views, and tomorrow you are next to Oprah on her show. Who knows? If you made a huge failure, hide in your closet for 2 years. No just kidding, eat ice-cream. It heals wounds. Day 7 IF you are famous by now, read further. If you are happy with your 15 minutes of internet-fame. Enjoy it and go on with your life. If you want to make more videos or set another trend, go on. Just start at day 1. It might be fun to do this, because you have more fans by then. So, this is kind of how to become famous on social media in one week. If you’re not famous, don’t be sad. Something like 0,0086% of the world population is famous.

Must Haves for Girls By Fatima and Fenne, B2at

Hello everybody, our article is about fashion, make-up and all girly things, we chose this because we really like it. We are going to talk about: where can you buy fashion?, must haves, some DIY’s. You can buy fashion everywhere, there are a lot of shops were you can buy it, some are cheaper than others. Here you have some shops were you can buy nice fashion… Primark is a very cheap shop where you can buy very nice fashion, you can buy clothes, make-up and jewellery. It is very cheap and girls nowadays love to shop there. There are some shops in the Netherlands. There may be one coming to Heerlen, but for now you can buy fashion in: Eindhoven, Venlo, Nijmegen, Zwolle, Rotterdam and Enschede. I think every girl in the whole world knows H&M. It is the same as the Primark only a little more expensive. You can buy clothes, jewellery, make-up and all kind of nice fashionable things there.

Must Haves: A sweater is the must have for every girl! You can wear it in the winter, autumn, spring and even in the summer. It is a fashionable item in your closet! You can buy nice sweaters at H&M, Abercrombie and Fitch, Sting, Primark and a lot more clothing shops!

A jeans with holes in it! You can see it in every fashion magazine, you can match it with a lot, for example a nice sweater! You can buy it at this time at a lot of shops, and when you can’t find a shop, you can take an old jeans and make holes in it, we are going to talk about it later in this article!

The Iphone 6 is (we think) the best and the most beautiful phone in the whole world! Apple is a very good phone company and their phones work very good! We love it!

Six is a jewellery shop but you can also buy there scarfs and phone cases, hats and all nice things to have. Some things are cheap and some things are more expensive.

Abercrombie and Fitch is a shop with a lot of fashionable clothes, it is expensive but it’s worth it! There is only one Abercrombie and Fitch in the Netherlands but there is a Hollister in Maastricht, it’s actually the same, because they work together.

WE LOVE NIKES!!! There are many different types of them, you can even make your own at the Nike website. There are expensive Nikes and some cheaper Nikes. We think this is the must have for everyone! THIRD ISSUE

Now we are going to show you some DIY’s (do it yourself’s), we have DIY’s about: hair, make-up and your room. We describe next to the picture what you have to do exactly. Here you see a bun, but only a small one. How to do? First you need to take two pieces of your hair, second you make a little bun of it and then you are finished. Here you can see a room DIY. You can see a heart made out of pictures, you can take picture’s you made with your friends or family, print some pictures or just take an old magazine and look if there are nice pictures. Step one: take about 55 pictures or less when you want to make a smaller heart, second you have to lay the pictures on the ground the way you want to have in on the wall and in the end you take some wall scotch tape and put in on the wall. Here you can see a make-up DIY for your eyes, you can wear it when you go out or go to a party, it’s not really a school look. First you take the stuff you need. Second you look at the pictures and look what you have to do, (it’s hard to explain what you have to do but you see all the steps very good at the picture, sorry!). 

Here you can see how a ripped jeans is made, you can try it with an old jeans (we think that’s the best) you need an old jeans, sand paper, something to scrape and when you want to give it a colour choose a waterproof pin. After you take all the stuff you only need to follow the steps. This is the end of our article, we hope you enjoyed all the things we put in there. We hope you can make something from it, we think there is much more information about fashion but these are the things we really love! Xoxo

Cara & Kendall: BFF By Zia and Soraya, B2at

Cara

Cara Jocelyn Delevingne was born August 12, 1992 in London. She is an English model, actress and a singer. She has two older sisters called Chloe and Poppy Delevingne, who are also a models. She has been modelling for Blumarine, DKNY, Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent, Victoria Secret, Zara and she is the new face of Burberry 2014/2015. In 2012 and 2014 she became model of the year. She also has a small singing career. The names of her songs are, Tell Me, Sun Don’t Shine and a lot of covers of different songs. But the most famous thing about her are her eyebrows. She has real thick eyebrows that everyone is jealous of.

We chose to write this article because we are a fan for a long time and decided to share it with you!

Her personality is beautiful too. She’s not like every other model. She’s crazy and she doesn’t care how she looks like. She says that we don’t have to regret anything because life is too short. Her style is very Tomboy. She has always been a tomboy. Ever since she was little, she used to cut her hair super short like a boy. You can see it by her style of clothes and her tattoo’s. She mostly wears jeans with a jacket and a crop top. Her makeup is really simple. You can try this too! First put on some foundation and some bronzer. Than you choose a light colour of brown eye-shadow. Put this on your eyelid and your crease. Then put some brown eye pencil on your water-line. And a thin line of eyeliner. Now the most important part of this look is the brows! Fill them in with a brown brow pencil. Don’t be scared to make them real thick! Lastly put on a lip colour and your look is finished!

Kendall

Cara has a best friend called Kendall Jenner. Kendall was born in November 3, 1995. She is famous for her family called ‘The Kardashians’. She has a famous sister called Kylie Jenner. She is also a model, she started modelling with the age of 14. Her first campaign was for the famous clothing brand forever 21. She has walked a few catwalks, her first one was in 2011. She is an actress too, she has been on Hawaii five o, keeping up with the Kardashians and America’s next Top Model Season 18.

How to get her makeup look: Put on a light brown eye shadow and put it above the crease Then pick a dark brown eye shadow and put it in the outer corner of your crease and blend it. Then make a winged eyeliner make the line right by the lash line. Then put on some foundation that is lighter than your own skin tone under your eyes Then put on mascara. Use your eyebrow pencil and make a thin line under your eyebrows and blend it upwards. Lastly put on some lipstick and then you’re finished!

A few facts about Kendall: Kendall is English, Scottish, Irish, and a little bit Dutch, German and French. She knows how to make up stories, in the 1st grade she told her friends that she had a house filled with jewels and lions. When she was in high school she was a cheerleader together with her sister Kylie. Her favourite colour is purple. She is more reserved and calmer than her sisters are. She dated Harry Styles in October, 2013 and she is a good friend of Taylor Lautner. She has a clothing line together with Kylie and they sell it in Pacsun, it’s a famous clothing store in America, their style of clothing is really a festival style and a bit hipster.

#CaKe

Cara and Kendall are best friends. They met because they are supermodels and have worked together. They became good friends and went to parties together and other places. Now they are best friend forever. They want to live together in the house of Jenner in Los Angeles. We were shocked when we read that maybe they are more than best friends. The famous designer Karl Lagerfeld started to interfere, and told the interviewers after the Chanel show, which they were in, that they are a couple. Maybe that’s why they were walking hand-in-hand after the Chanel show. They were also spotted very close with each other. So we think that this could be true. But this isn’t confirmed yet. So don’t panic!

They posted this picture on their instagram and captioned it with:

‘I knew we were sisters #CaKe’.

Lush 3.Granny Takes A Dip Bath Bomb

By Lisa, V2at

At first I really did not like the smell of this bath bomb because it smells like black pepper but in your bath it smells like lemon. When you throw this bath bomb in your bath it will start to fizz. Your bath will turn into a beautiful colour. This bath bomb will moisturize your skin. I also like the look of this bath bomb because it is very colourful. I really love this bath bomb.

Lush is a store that comes from the UK. They sell a variety of products like moisturizers, bath bombs, shampoo bars & bubble bars. Everything they sell is handmade and natural. Lush does not test on animals which is in my opinion a very good thing. I would like to review a few of my favourite Lush products for you. I hope you will like it.

4.Bubblegum Lip Scrub

1.Ocean Salt

This is my favourite product from lush. It is a body and face scrub but I always use it for my face. Some main ingredients are sea salt, mango butter, fresh grapefruit and fresh lime extracted in vodka. When you rinse it off, your skin will be left very soft. You can use this 1-2 times a week.

2.New shampoo Bar

This is just a solid bar of shampoo. The shampoo really makes your hair very soft. It smells like cinnamon which is one of my favourite scents and clove. Lush says it will last 60-80 washes and it really does. I do not know exactly how much I have used it but I know it will still last forever. I think many people would consider this shampoo as “expensive but actually it is not if you compare it to normal shampoo.

When your lips are really dry and chapped this a perfect product for you. This product is made out of sugar. You just pick some of the sugar and rub it over your lips. After that you can just lick it off and it tastes like bubble gum. This scrub contains jojoba oil which makes your lips very soft. I really love this lip scrub because it works really good and it tastes delicious.

5.The Comforter Bubble Bar The Comforter is a bubble bar. When you hold a piece of this under the running water, bubbles will form. The bubble bar smells like blackcurrant. It contains bergamot oil and Cypress oil. I love the pinkish colour of this bubble bar. Some people use this only 1-2 times but I use this 6-7 times. This is a very fun product because of the bubbles.

Things To Do When You Are Bored By Mel, V2at

Do you know that feeling when you just do not know what you want to do? Well, I think everyone has that feeling ones in a while... I am going to help you! I am going to tell you things you can do when you are bored and my own opinion about these ideas. So after you have read this article you never have to be bored again. Make a channel on If you are bored lots of times and you love talking to people, you can make a YouTube channel. It is for free and you can even get paid. And you do not have to have lots of subscribers for getting money. You can already get money with just a few subscribers! So this is fun to do and you will get paid for doing things you like: talking to people and making video's. If you are too lazy to make a YouTube channel you can also watch videos from other Youtubers. I think that YouTube is great. It’s lots of fun and for everyone there is something out there. And it also helps when you have to learn for a test or you have a homework assignment where you need information for. So it’s great fun and a great help! Make a blog on If you do not like talking to people that much and you like writing better, you can make a blog on Tumblr. You can make an account for free and design you blog the way you like it. You can also follow other blogs and get inspiration from these blogs. I made a blog on Tumblr and I really enjoyed it and it was lots of fun to make it in my own style. It is also very cool to see what other people made and what their style is. Cook something. If you are still bored you can always cook something. Food is always good! And you can cook or bake a lot. You can bake cupcakes or cookies, or make dinner yourself or help your mom when she is making dinner. Maybe someone of your family still has a recipe book. And if they do not have one you can of course always look for a recipe on the internet and in the St. Martins Courier. I am really going to try the recipes and I think they will be very good.

Make an account on Pinterest is a very cool site where you can follow your friends, look to a lot of pictures of things where you are interested in, some people share articles from blogs so you can read the articles and you can also find some DIY’s which you can make. You can just be on your computer or phone and scroll through the pictures for hours and it will never get bored. I really like using Pinterest and I can be on it for hours and hours. Do some DIY’s

If you are not into all the ideas above and you want to make something, you can DIY something. DIY means Do It Yourself. So if you like to make things your-self, like cool room decor accessories, you can do this as well. There are a lot of fun DIY’s on the internet, a lot of Youtubers do cool DIY’s and on Tumblr or Pinterest you can find lots and lots of DIY’s. If you like making room decor you can also decorate your room in special themes, for example per season, for a special time of the year (Christmas for example), or just in a colour combination that you like. This DIY is very quick and easy and the only thing you need is a tennis ball which you do not use anymore and a pair of scissors. This is of course a very short DIY but on the internet there are still lots and lots of DIY’s which you can make. So just go on the internet and find a DIY which you would like to make and have fun! I really enjoy making DIY’s when I am not very into being on the internet or watching a movie. It’s also great fun if you call a friend and you make some DIY’s together. I hope that you enjoy these ideas and you will have a lot of fun doing this. And hopefully you aren’t bored anymore after doing these activities. Well now first finish reading the St. Martins Courier and start doing these things!

Strange but Fabulous Side of Britain By Lysette & Tamysha, B2at

We did some research to find out the strange but still fabulous side of Britain. We searched for words, food and clothes. We hope you will enjoy our fabulous research.  In the first place the strange but still fabulous 10 British words, we were curious about what the most unused words are, but of which the explanations are still pretty much used. So here are 10 of the mostly unused words: • • • • • • •

• • •

Bobsy-die: a great deal of fuss or trouble. Floccinaucinihilipilification:the action or habit of estimating something as worthless. Hoddy-noddy: a foolish person. Meacock: a coward. Noctambulist: a sleepwalker. Netizen: a habitual or keen user of the internet. Screenager: a person in their teens or twenties who has an aptitude for using computers and the internet. Triskaidekaphobia: extreme superstition about the number thirteen. Blatherskite: a person who talks at great length without making much sense. Brobdingnagian: gigantic.

In the second place, the food of Britain of which we think are strange: How to make haggis:

The ingredients: sheep's stomach windpipe liver lungs just the general pluck and the stomach beef suet salted or roasted oats a cooking tie (optional- up to 200 milliliters of red wine or sherry). Steps: Boil your sheep stomach in a pot full of water for at least 2 hours, and in a separate pot of water, boil the rest of the pluck for 30 minutes. If your oats are not yet roasted, go ahead and roast them. After the pluck is finished boiling, remove them and start chopping. Once the pluck is nice and minced, do the same to the suet. Note: If you are adding wine to the mixture, place the pluck and suet in a large mixing bowl before you do so. After the wine is in, mix it in well. Remove the stomach (after the 2 hours, of course) and hold it open. You may need a partner to do so for you. Stuff everything in, layering in intervals between the meats mixture and the oats. Tie off the open part of the stomach with the cooking tie, and Voila! You have a haggis! Steps:

Melt the butter in the frying pan then add the finely chopped onion. Cut the bacon into 2-centimetre (3/4-inch) strips. Season the onion and bacon and sautĂŠ them until the onion is softened and transparent and the bacon is cooked. Add the chopped parsley, wine and fish stock to the ingredients in the frying pan and sprinkle in the flour. Stir the flour into the liquid as you add it, making sure no lumps develop. Arrange the pilchards in the dish so that the heads stick up over the edge. Halve the boiled eggs and put them in between the fish then pour the sauce over the fish and eggs. Roll out the pastry to a thickness of 3 mm (1/8 inch) and shape it to fit the top of the pie dish. Cut slits in the pastry for the fish heads to stick through. Lay the pastry on the dish, inserting the heads through the slits. Glaze the pastry with milk and crimp the edges. Place the pie in an oven preheated to 200 C (400 F, gas mark 6) and cook for about 45 minutes, until the pastry is golden.

Dip the Scotch egg in beaten egg and then roll it in breadcrumbs to coat. Repeat with the remaining eggs. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to firm up and set. Pour the oil in a deep, heavy-based pan, to no more than one third full. Heat the oil to 160C you can use a cooking thermometer to check the temperature. Use a frying basket if you have one and cook for 5 – 10 mins depending on the size of the Scotch egg. Turn gently, using a slotted spoon, to cook and colour evenly. British clothes through the years

The Best Ice Cream In The World By Janine & Kayleigh, V2at

We chose this topic because we think Ben and Jerry's is the best ice cream in the world, and besides that they do lot of charity work. We are going to tell you more about who Ben and Jerry are and of course about their ice cream. Ben Cohen was born on March the 18" in 1951, so he is 63 years old. People describe him as a hippie or ex-hippie because he has always been busy with peace and charity work. In his senior year in high school he found work as an ice cream man before he was going to the university, which by the way was the Colgate University. Ben has never been married and has no children. He is one of the co-founders of Ben and Jerry's, the other cofounder is Jerry Greenfield. Jerry was born on March the 14" in 1951, so he is also 63 years old. He is known as a hard-working person. He is married to Elizabeth Skarie and has one child.

Ben and Jerry met each other at Merrick Avenue Junior High School during gym-class. Over the next few years, their friendship grew until the two graduated and split up to attend separate colleges. Ben dropped out of college and Jerry graduated. Jerry wanted to be a doctor but was rejected by all the medical schools he applied to. Ben wanted to be a potter but after a while he realized that nobody was ever going to buy his work. When they both didn't knew what they wanted to do with their lives, they decided that they wanted to work together. They first wanted to open a restaurant but after they talked to people who knew more about the business, they had considered that it would be better to start selling bagels or ice cream, because in that time they were popular. They thought it was cheaper to start selling ice cream so they did. Their ice cream The ice cream has an extra rich flavour because one of the co-founder, Ben Cohen, has anosmia. It's a disease where you have almost no sense of smell. So if he can't taste a recipe, he just adds more flavouring.

Vegetarian recipes:

Here are some delicious vegetarian recipes. Maybe you think it’s a waste of your time, but actually it’s not. Because who wants to eat blownup chickens, fatty pigs and horse meat? Any animal lover (or human being) would certainly not eat that. So if you’re against these kind of animal murders, you should eat my recipes to feel better.

6. You can make your spring roll in a deep pot filled with sunflower oil. If you have to much spring rolls, you can freeze them. You can eat them another time. 7. Was my explanation about the wrapping not clear? Then I have a picture underneath:

Vegetarian Spring Rolls:

Ingredients for the roll: * 1 handful of uncooked vermicceli rice noodles * 1 package of spring roll sheets * 1 large julienned parsnip * 2 julienned sticks of celery * Small handful of fresh basil-chiffonade * Small handful of finely sliced cabbage Making the spring roll: 1. You have to cook the noodles. Take a medium pan of boiling water. Let these cook for about 8-10 minutes. After that you have to put them in an ice bath to stop them cooking. Let’s drain them! 2. Fill your sink with warm water. Lay a clamp kitchen cloth on your working surface. Take all your ingredients next to you, it will be handier for placing them on the roll. 3. Put 1 of the spring rolls in warm water. You need to leave them a couple of minutes in there until they’re getting soft. Take it careful out of the water and put it on the damp kitchen cloth. 4. Put some noodles in the middle of the roll sheet. Then put the other ingredients on it. 5. Now you have to roll it up. Fold the side of the roll sheet close to you up and roll it over all the ingredients. Now wrap the ends in to the middle of the roll, as far as you can. Then roll the thing away from you. Congratulations, you made a spring roll.

Delicious Garlic Bread

Ingredients: * A baguette (the size is no problem) * Tomatoes * Garlic * Butter * Mozzarella * Salt and pepper * Fresh basil How to make it: 1. Mix the softened butter and minced garlic. 2. Spread the garlic butter on the baguette. 3. Place to mozzarella on the baguette. 4. Top de bread with tomato, with some salt and pepper, and place some nice sprinkled fresh basil over the tomatoes. 5. If you like, you can put some balsamic vinegar on it. 6.
