The girls' volleyball teams completed a rather unsuccessful season, in which they played Newman, McGehee, and Country Day. Coi:trary to popular belief, both the "A" and "B" teams won at least one game. The "A" team improved considerably as the season progressed, only to finish the season with its worst effort One of the best games was against a powerful Country Day team, although Country Day won, 14-8. The "B" team played several excellent games, and was aided tremendously by some fabulous serving.

January 7, 195 8 opened the season of the Girls' Basketball teams. In spite of the combined efforts of Marshall Alford, Mary Sue Cairns, Spruill Kilgore, and Barbara Mayo, the "A" team barely lost by a score of 23-1 7 to Country Day. The "B" team fared better and won by a score of 17-16. Betty Calvert played an outstanding game for the "B's."

Th e "A" team lost its second game by a score of 17-13 to McGehee. The "B" team played a good defensive game and won a 2114 victory over the st rong opponents.
