You can schedule a shadow day for most days that classes are in session. If you already know someone at St. Mary’s Academy High School and would like to shadow her, we’ll do our best to make that happen. Here are the ways to set up your exciting day:
questions and join discussions, and just as important, your teachers take the time to get to know you and your interests.

Be A Wildcat for a Day Shadow Program This Program is your chance to spend a regular day at St. Mary’s Academy High School. You will shadow with a student host who will take you to classes, lunch and around campus to check out our many activities — from ceramics to soccer. Your host will also answer all your questions and introduce you to other Wildcats. By the end of the day, you’ll have a good sense of life at St. Mary’s Academy High School. You’ll also have some new friends! Better together. If you know someone who attends St. Mary’s Academy High School and would like to shadow her, just let us know. And if you’re interested in shadowing on the same day as a friend, that’s possible, too. You will each have a student host, but we’ll work to make sure you and your friend can connect to compare notes or to attend a class together.
Who should participate? And why? Attendance at a shadow day is required of any student interested in applying into the High School. Shadow days begin in October for 8th grade and transfer students and in April for 7th grade students. Shadow days offer you the opportunity to attend classes, sample our electives, meet our amazing teachers, and engage with other dynamic Wildcats in our inclusive community.

OUR PLEDGE TO YOU
In addition to providing outstanding academics and character education, it is our promise to you that you will be safe, cared-for, and known.
What to wear
The dress code at St. Mary’s Academy High School is relaxed and casual. Our High School students typically wear jeans, t-shirts, dresses and athletic attire.
Sampling classes SMA High School employs a block schedule. You’ll attend three 90-minute classes, and/or visit a world language or art class, which typically run for 45 minutes.
What time does a shadow day start?
To ensure that you get a good sense of whether SMA High School is right for you, we match you with a student host who shares your academic and extracurricular interests.
You won’t need to bring much, simply your willingness to engage in classes and meet new friends. Please keep cell phones shut down and put away during classes.
When you arrive at St. Mary’s Academy, you will go to the northeast entrance of the High School. There, you’ll meet the admission team and, just as important, your student host. You will also pick up your lunch coupon and schedule for the day.
Don’t worry about bringing a lunch. It’s on us! Your host will have a lunch coupon for you. St. Mary’s Academy High School offers a different lunch vendor every day. Some days it’s Panera or Chipotle; other days, it’s Subway or Noodles, just to name a few of the possibilities. And Friday is, without fail, pizza day. You are welcome to pack your own lunch if you have any special dietary needs.
Who is my host?
What to bring
There is plenty for you to see and experience! Arrive at 8:15 am for the 8:30 am start — this allows time to park and check in. Shadow day wraps up at 2:30 pm. Unlike many other High Schools, which start at 7 am, our classes don’t begin until 8:30 am.
