Inpress; Promotion

Working in collaboration with Francesca Pecqueur to create a range of design material to promote the next Inpress design event. All designs needed to reflect the Inpress brand, designed by Niall CruickshankSutton and Kirsty Fruin; whilst fully communicating details and information about the event. The use of the same fluorescent spot colours as the business cards and other brand material keeps the Inpress brand consistent, whilst the use of a new font and photographic style gives the event a new identity in its own right. The use of the ‘Matilda’ font designed by Form and Writing, both promotes them as guest designers and adds a feel of exclusivity to the designs. Recycled and re-used materials being the main focus of the brief, to reinforce Inpress’ sustainable and ethical approach to design. The use of old newspapers for bags and packaging ties together with the black and white photography included in the posters and flyers.

Inpress; Promotion

All promotional material was to stay true to our brand guidelines, written by Niall Cruickshank-Sutton. Although this was essential to maintain recognisability and consistency, creating a new sub-brand for the event sets it aside from the others, communicating the idea of something new and exciting. The use of imagery of past work, events and printing processes give the posters and flyers contextual and conceptual relevance, whilst also adding to the design aesthetically. Envelope packaging produced to hold four postcard prints, illustrated and designed by each member of the Inpress team. This was distributed and sold at the opening night for a small price as a form of promotion, whilst still covering cost. Screen printed bag and packaging designs reflect Inpress’ love for traditional printing techniques, and corresponds with the type of work sold at the event. Also using left over newspapers conveys our belief in ethical and sustainable design.

Inpress; Event

The Inpress opening night took place on Friday 30th November at Dock Street Market, complimentary cocktails and live entertainment were provided. The shop remained open across the weekend, as to broaden our audience. The event was promoted through various social media, direct email, posters and flyers. Experimental type collective Form and Writing, and illustrator James Murphy appeared as guest designers. This not only provided another platform to promote, but also kept the work fresh and exciting for people perhaps returning after the previous event. Choosing the right venue and band to convey what Inpress is about was crucial to boost our brand. Dock Street Market provided the right atmosphere and also an exhibition space to display prints.

Inpress; Event

The opening night was very successful and provided a platform for us, and others attending the event to network. After featuring in Spur magazine and running a shop at their launch, we also agreed to stock their magazine, the interview also providing another channel to promote ourselves as a collective. All work is to be left up with price tags for a month following the event, allowing another channel for sales and promotion to the general public.
