Rationale During my final major project, I am going to focus on designing for sustainable print. I am going to explore the relation between traditional and commercial printing processes, and attempt to define my role as a designer by exploring the different levels and definitions of sustainability in relation to print. I intend to focus on fewer, more substantial briefs and push them to their limits by creating and proposing an extensive range. My work will be heavily image and illustration based as this is where my strengths lie. However I am also going to apply these skills across branding and publication design projects to diversify the work within my final major project and portfolio. Brief 1: Branding India Rose Bird

Rationale: Brand and promote surface pattern designer India Rose Bird in preparation for her end of year show exhibition. A print based design brief focusing on preparing the client for working in the industry. Product Brand and range of promotional material. Range Logo, catalogue/look book, business cards, mail-out packaging, compliments slips, stationary.

Brief 2: Change Makers (continued)

Rationale: Create a range of posters to encourage designers and printers to run a more sustainable practice. Focusing on commercial printing process I am going to explore the most environmentally friendly methods to produce print. Product A range of commercially printed posters. Range Mail-outs, packaging, compliments slips, postcards, calendar.

Brief 3: UK Greetings

Rationale: Design a range of greetings cards that stand out from the crowd. I am going to focus on illustration and specific subject matter to create a series of aesthetically pleasing card designs intended to be commercially printed. Product A minimum of four greetings cards. Range Cards, envelopes, packaging, wrapping paper, prints, gift bags.

Rationale: Create a range of prints influenced by Japanese art and culture and the Shinto faith. I am going to explore different traditional printing techniques, such as intaglio and screen print.
