In Early Years, we support children to develop into confident individuals who love learning and have the foundations in which to thrive in the future. Here at St Andrews, we pride ourselves on treating each child as an individual and all our teachers take an interest in getting to know your child in order for them to receive the best care.
Every child reaches their full potential by being immersed in a play-based environment combined with teacher-led activities. Children enjoy our spacious, bright and colourful Early Years Centre with dedicated indoor and outdoor learning areas. This environment fosters a safe, happy and exciting experience for our children and builds a positive attitude to learning from their first day at school.
Following the framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) integrated with the principles of the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, our highly experienced Early Years teachers facilitate opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration every day. Experiences with sand, water, building blocks, dramatic play, table toys, art materials, music, outdoor play and games allow children to develop their fine and gross motor skills and improve social interaction. In addition, more structured play covering Maths and Literacy ensures children are well prepared before starting Primary School.
The Primary School at St Andrews International School, Green Valley is a hub of activity and learning. We create a stimulating learning environment where children are free to explore and inquire about their learning within and outside of the classroom.
We are proud to be the only school in the area to teach the internationally recognised IB Primary Years Programme; a rigourously integrated programme in which inquiry is embedded into the curriculum. We know that children are natural born inquirers, who revel in taking risks and asking questions to explore and make connections about the world around them. The hands-on, inquiry-based Primary Years Programme (PYP), combined with the British National Curriculum, takes full advantage of this to ignite a love of learning in our students whilst also ensuring that they receive an excellent educational foundation that prepares them for Secondary school and beyond.
As an inquiry-driven programme, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves, to take control of their own learning, to have a global perspective and to make positive differences to the world. While gaining academic knowledge, students also work on developing their personal, social and study skills, continuously reflecting and looking for opportunities for self improvement.
Developing 21st century learning skills and inquiring minds is at the heart of what we do. By learning how to learn, our children are best prepared to use their knowledge and skills in a rapidly changing world. We want our students to think critically to recognise issues in the world. We want them to feel empowered to be the future changemakers, who find solutions that really make a difference.
The Secondary School at St Andrews International School, Green Valley, prides itself on developing the whole child. Exam results are important, and we are very proud to boast the highest results in the area, but we also strive to ensure that each and every student is supported emotionally and physically so that they can achieve their best and develop into well rounded young adults.
We provide a robust curriculum that provides our students with everything they need to succeed and move on to the university of their choice. Our Year 9 students follow the National Curriculum; Year 10 and 11 follow the IGCSE and Years 12 and 13 follow the IB Diploma.
Our broad and balanced curriculum enables our students to enjoy and develop their passions and interests in a wide variety of practical subjects such as Music, Drama, Design Technology, Art, Computing and Physical Education. We also focus on using our fantastic green outdoor environment to enhance our lessons. This enables our students to learn through practical experiences instead of simply the textbook. Our unique facilities, including forest schools, hydroponics stations and more allow our students to expand their knowledge and develop 21st century skills, setting them up for the best possible future beyond school.
We are exceptionally proud that our graduates go on to attend top universities around the world and pursue diverse and aspirational career paths, such as human rights law, aviation, engineering, medicine, music and arts. We would be delighted for your child to join us on this journey.
We are proud to offer the internationally recognised IB Diploma programme for our students’ final two years at the school. Well known by universities as an exceptional preparation for life beyond school and the Gold Standard when applying for tertiary education, the IB Diploma programme prioritises academic rigour whilst also providing a continued blend of holistic opportunities.
