St. Andrews International School Green Valley
School Profile 2021 - 2022
Overview St. Andrews International School, Green Valley is a small International school on the outskirts of Pattaya and Rayong in Thailand. The school campus is home to 415 students from over 30 nationalities and 80 teachers from 14 different nationalities. It is a truly diverse and multicultural community. Our programmes are based on the English National Curriculum within the framework of the International Baccalaureate, working to meet the needs of the whole child in order for them to realise their full potential in academic, social, emotional, cultural and physical development. This is achieved through a balanced curriculum that encompasses both traditional values and modern technology. We actively encourage an emphasis on the individual, which is supported by an ethos which is caring, respectful and tolerant of differences in abilities, needs, cultures and religions. Given that the school is non-selective, it enjoys excellent examination results. Students benefit from the individual attention offered by a small school, together with the academic and cultural opportunities and outstanding facilities of a far larger one. Our IGCSE results far exceed the UK National average and the average scores of other international schools in the region. In the IB Diploma Programme, our average score for the past four years is 34.8 points, which is nearly four points higher than the world average of 31 points.
IGCSEs The table summarises IGCSE results achieved by St Andrews International School Green Valley students between 2017 and 2021. The comparison to the UK Average shows that our results have consistently been well in excess of international standards.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Equivalent to US Grade 6-8 St Andrews Green Valley broadly uses the English National Curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9. This is modified to reflect the diverse international community at St Andrews. All students use English to unlock this curriculum. Students are supported in their English development so that each student may fully access the curriculum and therefore reach their potential. The Programme of Study in Years 7 –9 is broad and balanced meaning students study a wide range of subjects taught by subject specialists. Studying a broad range of subjects means that students can keep their options open for when they have to make subject choices in Year 10.
UPPER SCHOOL Equivalent to US Grade 9-10 St. Andrews Green Valley follows IGCSE syllabi for IGCSE courses in years 10 & 11. We use two exam boards, Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Pearson Edexcel. IGCSE courses are a logical extension of the key stage 3 curriculum that we study and are a very good preparation before studying the IB Diploma Programme. At St Andrews we incorporate the principles of the IB Learner Profile into our teaching so many of the MYP principles are also covered by what we do. In many ways IGCSE students get the best of both systems. Additional English Support English language development is a top priority. All students are given extra support in this area by studying English more often than is required and through smaller class sizes.

The IB Diploma Programme is a two year course where students study six subjects; three at higher level and three at standard level. The maximum grade a student can achieve in one of their six subjects is seven points. In addition to the six subjects, Diploma students study Theory of Knowledge and complete an Extended Essay which provide up to three bonus points for students. The maximum IB Diploma score is therefore 45 points. The minimum score needed to pass the IB Diploma is 24 points and the world average each year is around 31. Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) is also a core element of the IB Diploma Course as it encourages students to engage with the local community and also continue to find ways to improve themselves.
