End of Year Round-Up I am sure you will agree with me that we have had a fantastic year in the Primary School. When I look back at the photos from this year it is amazing to see how much we have accomplished and the progress we have all made in so many areas. I am so proud of all our hard work to ensure that St Andrews continues to be the ‘happiest and most caring community where we are the best we can be.‘ I look forward to seeing you all after the holidays and thank you for being such wonderful and supportive members of our St. Andrews community. I would also like to say best wishes to all our leaving teachers, students and parents. We will miss you, but hopefully you will keep in touch and always be part of our St Andrews family. Celebrating Action Around the School One of the most wonderful traits of a St. Andrews student is their passion to make a difference to their community. There are so many examples of how students have taken action through their Units of Inquiry and our Activities Program and seeing these in action makes us truly proud!
PYP Year 6 Exhibition 2019 The Year 6 Exhibition is an important part of the PYP for all students. In their final year of the PYP, students investigate, inquire into and solve problems to make a change and make the world a better place. It offers students a platform to show they are responsible and independent learners. This year our Central Idea was “#GenerationIB” to celebrate the IB’s 50th Birthday. The students were in groups for one of the UN Global Goals and wrote their own Lines of Inquiry. The night started with a fantastic whole year presentation which showed how confident and well-rounded our students really are. Our families and friends then had the opportunity to roam around each of the groups’ stands. It was an absolute pleasure to hear the conversations between the students and their guests. They truly showed their passion and knowledge of their Global Goal.
Welcome to Our New Y1s Our Reception students have now had their Promotion Ceremony and are ready to join us as Year 1s in Primary TB1! It’s been wonderful to see them all grow during their time in Early Years and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next year.
Good Luck to Our Year 6s Our Year 6s have now had their PYP Exhibition, their Promotion Ceremony and their Transition days so are more than ready to leave us in Primary and head off to Secondary. Well done to each and every one of you for all your efforts during your time in Primary and we look forward to seeing what you do next.

Saying Hello! We are very excited to welcome our new teachers to GV. We know they will all bring their passion and expertise to the Primary School!
Faye Wood: PYP/Teaching & Learning Coordinator Since qualifying as a primary teacher 10 years ago, my career has been incredibly varied and allowed me to pursue many different, exciting avenues. For me, teaching is more than just a job! I find working with young people to be an absolute pleasure and an honour. Those lightbulb moments, where a switch has been turned on in the minds of my learners and the look of achievement on their face never loses its magic or pride.
I am over the moon to be joining the Green Valley community as PYP Coordinator to further develop teaching and learning in a vibrant and exciting curriculum, not only in the classroom but outside of it too, nurturing not only learners’ academic outcomes, but their passions and interests.
Charlotte Knight: KG Teacher I began teaching in a UK school as a Nursery teacher which I thoroughly enjoyed. Since then I have taught a range of classes from Nursery to Y1. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Years and Childhood studies from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, and also hold the Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). Most recently I have been working at an International school in Bangkok and am really excited to be joining GV. I always ensure children are having fun in my class. I love to dance, sing and play games with the children. My aim as a teacher is for all of my children to be happy and confident every day. I am looking forward to meeting all of the new Kindergarten children in August.
Lara Heaver: Year 1 Teacher I have been teaching for the last 6 years, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I have a BA degree in History from the University of Kent and I completed my PGCE at Liverpool Hope University in 2013. I have taught both in the UK and at a British international school in Qatar. Outside of school, I really enjoy travelling, learning about new cultures and exploring new countries. I also really enjoy outdoor activities, including water sports, mountain climbing and walking in the countryside. I am really excited about teaching at Green Valley and eager to experience the pleasures of Thailand.
Michelle Gaye: Year 1 Teacher I have taught for 12 years mostly in Years 1-3 and spent the last year teaching in Thailand. My specialisms are Key Stage 1 education and English. I believe children learn best when they’re having fun so I will be planning lots of hands on and outdoor learning for Year 1. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking the dog, watching films, reading and going to see live music. I will join the school with my husband Marvin and our two daughters Ava and Nyah. We are all really looking forward to it. We love living in Thailand and when we’re not at school, we enjoy exploring different places, sampling Thai food and culture and having fun outdoors.
More Hellos! Etienne Mensah: Year 5 Teacher After graduating in 2014, I have been fortunate enough to work in a range of schools within the UK. Having worked in various departments, I decided to focus on Primary age teaching as this is where my passion lies. I have always embraced the extra curricular elements of school too, such as running an ICT club, multi sport and homework clubs. In the past, I have worked at summer camps both in the UK and North America. These were truly amazing experiences as I was able to witness children develop a range of lifelong skills and work with many nationalities. In my spare time, I love to cook, travel and watch the best international rugby team: Wales. As I have been to Thailand recently, I am looking forward to being immersed in the Thai culture once again. I cannot wait to meet you all soon!
Andrew O’Hagan: Year 5 Teacher Many of you may have already seen me around the school, as I am currently teaching Business and Economics in secondary. I joined the school in May last year, after teaching at a Primary School in Bangkok for four years, teaching years 3, 5 and 6. I also have experience teaching at Primary Schools in South Korea and the UK.
I have enjoyed my year teaching in secondary, but I am looking forward to returning to teaching primary aged children, helping with their learning and preparing them for the future. I am particularly passionate about Maths and I.C.T and I am looking forward to sharing this passion with all the children in primary next year, in addition to my Year 5 class. In my free time I enjoy traveling and I am excited to be spending 2 weeks exploring Japan in July this year, before spending some time exploring the mountains and nature in Nan province in the north of Thailand.
Stefan Larsen: Primary Music Specialist My name is Stefan Larsen. I am 45 years old and from Denmark. I have been teaching for almost 20 years, both in Denmark and internationally. I look forward to teaching Primary Music at Green Valley starting from August. My family is moving with me and my 2 daughters will be attending the school as well. I am passionate about empowering my students to understand, listen to, create, and perform, music - in all shapes and sizes. I also believe that music is not just sound, but an activity that people create together as a group, using their entire body and soul. It is important to move, make sound and work together when creating music.
Parent help and support @GV At St. Andrews we are very lucky to have parents who are willing to give up their time to help in the Primary School. The way that our parents help include: listening to children read, helping with a primary activity and helping in the library. Below are our upcoming PYP Units of Inquiry for the start of our 2019/20 academic year. We are looking for parents and/or community members who may be able to help support these units by sharing their expertise. Even if your child isn’t in the year group, if you think you could offer something, please let us know!
