2017

Message from the Principal From the opening day of St Andrew’s fourteen years ago, “When

We will also host local, regional and interstate competitions at

is the pool coming?” has been a frequent question. St Andrew’s

but I am excited to announce that our next building project will be the Aquatic Centre. Placed at the entrance to the College, and stretching between the main path and Little Saints, our pool will be a facility for all in our community. Today the children commute to the Noosa Aquatic Centre for swim-related activities. With the round trip taking approximately 40 minutes, this equates to one lesson a week from their timetable. Students will no longer have to travel on the bus

Tuition fees keep the College running but the goal is to minimise the impact of the cost of the centre on the operating expenses of the College. Together we can bring our pool complex project forward.

If we raise substantial additional funds from our

generous community, we will be able to commence work on the pool complex as early as December of this year, (subject to some Diocesan and Government approvals).

Swimming Pool FAQ’s? How much will the Aquatic Centre cost? •

$12 million

How will the Centre be paid for? •

Funds for $11M will come from a number of sources, College loans, Government Grants, proceeds from the Fair and donations from our community.

Our target is to raise $1M in community gifts which will ensure that construction of our centre can commence this year! This is a centre for everyone so the hope is that many will contribute in any amount, large or small. Every dollar will help and each gift over $2 in this campaign will be recognised in our community (with donor permission).

Why the Aquatic Centre before a Performing Arts Centre? •

Both are important to the development of the College but consultation with parents has confirmed broader support for the pool.

Planning for the Performing Arts Centre has commenced and is a much longer process with a greater degree of consultation required.

Our Performing Arts Centre will cost much more to build and is not yet funded. Placing emphasis on this now would result in neither facility being built for many years.

Will I be able to use the Aquatic Centre? •

All members of our community including parents and past students will be able to use the pool when available.

When will the Aquatic Centre be finished? •

Completion of the centre will depend on when we commence construction. As soon as we reach our fundraising target we can put the final planning process in place with the hope to be enjoying the facility in 2018.

How can I help? •

Donate your time, skills and resources to fundraising events and activites - more information will follow in the weeks and months ahead.

Make a tax deductible gift to the St Andrew’s Building Fund. More details are on the enclosed Giving Form, or contact Sue Sagar on (07) 5471 5555 to discuss your donation in more detail.

Swimming has been my life from a young age but it was St Andrew’s, along with a supportive scholarship program, that helped me reach my dreams of making the Olympic team. Having an Aquatic Centre at the College would have further enhanced this; as a student I could have attended training at the College campus before school. I encourage all families to contribute to this wonderful project and help make the dream come true for other aspiring young athletes. Jake Packard - Class of 2012 Bronze Medal - 2016 Rio Olympics

enabling students to move confidently into their futures Creating OPPORTUNITIES

There are many reasons to dive straight into the St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre fundraising program. A pool of our own gives our staff, students and community easy access to a state-of-the-art facility that will help our children gain valuable life-long skills. You can donate your time as a volunteer and/or make a financial donation to our fundraising initiatives. The more support our community provides, the faster we can build the Aquatic Centre. With a substantial amount already secured from funding, the opportunity is now to raise the final $1 million through our Aquatic Centre fundraising initiative so please join us to

make a splash.
