THE MISTRESS - 1970 MUSTANG
MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!
MY OBSESSION WITH THE 1970 MUSTANG STARTED BACK WHEN I WAS 14 YEARS OLD.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
My obsession with the 1970 Mustang started back when I was 14 years old. I had just started my first job and quickly got the itch to buy a car to start working on. My grandfather had a small car lot back then. My parents and I had stopped by one day to visit and there sitting on his lot was a 1970 Mustang. The body design had instantly caught my eye. He offered to take my for a spin and I was hooked! We came back and engaged in some price negotiating which wound up with him selling me the car for $175. I had owned that car until I was about twenty years old and ended with me selling it out of youthful ignorance.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
Fast forward many years to 2009, I happened across my current 1970 Mustang. After purchasing it and performing a total teardown, it turned out that the old girl wound up needing pretty much every panel replaced with the exception of the roof and the inner A and B pillars. I had picked away at her over the course of the last thirteen years and finally got her on the road again October 2022.
Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!
Over the past thirteen years this car has been there with me through many life changing events, but has always stayed on target to continuously absorb my time and take my money (hence the nickname my wife and I gave her, “The Mistress”).
