Iron bars do not a prison make.
You can always see a crowd like this before school in the morning. Who said boys didn't drink milk? (And they didn't pose for th is either!)
Deep concentration
What would we do without those water fountains?
Golden throats !
Crammed locker, golf hat, and shirt-tail outa ll can be found a t A.H .S. From the laughs we see, and the smirk on Tommy 's face, he must have told another one!
What gives, p e ople?

The J. V. Tearn started off d oing a very good job of holding a better record this year. The team was sparked by Captain Margaret Graves, who contributed the high score for each game. The J. V.'s started the season off right by winning over Waynesboro. Their final record was 4 and 2. These girls faced rough competition all the way through and held their ground even through their losses . Our girls have shown a great improvement and ability to work well together. They are expecting an e ven better record next year and some of them will take a jump and be a part of the varsity next year.

Future Homemakers
if America
The activities of the Albemarle Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America have been many and varied. During Homecoming week-end the chapter sponsored a tea for the Alumni Association. The main spring activity was a clothing exhibit attended b y the student body and guests At this evening performance, the girls modeled clothes they had made. The entire membership was urged to a ttend the three Martha Jefferson F.H.A. Summer activities w ill include the State F.H.A. Convention which is held annually at one of the state colleg es and the F.F.A .F.H .A. The club seeks to build high moral standards and a sense of pride and responsibility in each individual's work. Each member is urged to do creative work through worthwhile projects and to take part in the club programs . By aiding teachers in grading papers and doing substitute teaching the members gain experience towards their future career. This year the members are working under a point and credit system , in which they earn a minimum number of credits to receive the official club pin.

The "Albemarle Hig hlig ht" was edited by the Publications Club during 1953, '54, and part of '55 , before the Journalism C lass was organized in September of 1955. Though the size of the paper has been changed this year, it has been met with enthusiasm. The "Highlight" is still a young paper, and although progress and improvement have seemed slow, it has come a long way since the first issue in 1953.
