Synodic Cycles lecture-NORWAC 2011..................................................................$15

Synodic Cycles are the structured cycles of change that are based on the phases of the lunation cycle. A Synodic is when two planets come together. Sometimes they occur more frequently like the alignment of Jupiter and Mars once every two years. Others have more farreaching effects like the alignment of Pluto and Uranus in the mid-1960s, which is a 126 year cycle of anarchy. We are still in the developmental cycle of that revolutionary period. Stathis clearly explains the various meanings of these cycles and uses very definite examples to show how they can be used for effective forecasting of trends. Look for Georgia’s new book coming out in 2012!

Things are grinding this week. A planet takes action. Kick start now!

Everybody’s chart is different. We are not all just one sign born under only one sign of the zodiac and that’s it. Every three or so minutes the horoscope changes giving us just a slight variation on what we call the Ascendant, or the rising sign. About every two hours your rising sign changes and this is why we always ask for the time of your birth, the time of your marriage, the time for when you opened the doors to your business. The list goes on and on. When we have the correct time of birth or the correct time at which an event begins, we have the key to a wealth of information. Following is an ‘approximation’ table of what your rising sign might be. Of course, the location, the distance North or South from the Equator may vary this and place you in the ascendant sign before or after in where you think it might be. If you know you were born during war time or daylight time, remember to subtract one hour from your birth certificate time, and then look up your approximate rising sign, also called the Ascendant. This is what you physically look like and indicates personality characteristics as well as certain mythologies that you carry. Use this when reading those annual forecasts that everyone sells at the beginning of the year. You can also read your Sun Sign, the day you were born, but this gives you more precise information. In this year’s book we have a great essay about the upcoming major events and how they combine. With the added information about your rising sign, or ascendant, you can also read the blurb for that sign, too. Use the Moon Legend to understand the symbols.

Red Action Days. These are all big action days when planets come together, or, conjunct. Like a New Moon, they kick things into gear. A week filled with ‘red’ is an action week.

Moon Cycles Much has been written about the Moon and its cycles and it is the greater focus of our calendar each year. This is somewhat different than the more popular Sun Sign forecasts. In ancient times, the Moon’s cycles were followed long before the Sun’s cycles were followed, primarily because it was a visible anchor for the ancients who lived, planted and hunted by her. Even today, many investors and farmers still follow the Moon’s cycles since she shifts about every 2.5 days and moves, quite dependably, from a New Moon (when the Moon looks black) to the Full Moon in full light. There are two weeks from the New Moon to Full Moon, which is called the ‘waxing’ cycle and then two weeks from Full Moon to New Moon (waning), where she dies on the vine (lunar humor!). Depending on circumstances, of course, it is a good practice to begin ventures, even marriage from New to Full Moon, since this is the growing cycle of the Moon. Over the course of approximately 27.32 days, the full cycle of the Moon, she ebbs and flows as do the tides. From Full to New Moon, as the light diminishes, this is a great time to finish things, clear desks, go through files, and even start diets, thereby ‘shrinking’ our environments so we can be ready to go at the New Moon and the monthly growing cycle begins again. In our calendar, which we’ve published since 1995, we feature Void of Course Moon cycles with a very graphic black-out bar. The Void of Course Moon is important and doesn’t suggest one stopping all activities, of course, but, instead, suggests more universal, stop, wait, and see moments. These may last for either a few minutes or for an entire day or two (as it quite often occurs this year in July) and you see this marked in the calendar!

Samurai manual, A Book of Five Rings, written by Miyamoto Musashi and sometimes used in M.B.A. programs, he writes about the Void. The upshot of those few pages is that the Void is where all the magic happens – the idea of incubation before inspiration – and, this is a positive and alternative view of the Void of Course Moon. We have marked the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons with their times (Pacific) and the signs of the Tropical Zodiac where they are seen. Below is a grid explaining these quarterly cycles and providing a breakdown for each Moon’s meanings. For those of you familiar with the model below, use it as a measuring tool for conjunctions that evolve. For further insight, please go to our website at www. starcycles.com and read the FREE weekly forecasts and listen to the FREE podcasts that complement them. And, of course, as always, for those of you simply wanting a personal forecast opportunity, I offer a limited number of private phone appointments. To schedule either phone me at 925-689-7827 or email: georgiastathis@sbcglobal.net. The fee varies depending on the amount of research required to work with you. A good ballpark figure (fee includes extensive preparation prior to your call) is $250 for a one hour session and $325 for a one and a half hour session. This is for a natal session only which includes your transits, your secondary progressions and solar arcs. If you need more complex work such as analyzing your company, we have to discuss your needs, you fill out a questionnaire and establish a contract fee.

We mark the last aspect moment the Moon has with another planet with either a plus (+) sign or minus ( - ) sign. An aspect is a geometric conversation (an angular distance) with another planet and whether it is amiable or discordant is indicated by the plus or minus symbols. This is good to know and gives one a sense of how things feel regarding the events of the last few hours of that moment. I find that when planning a meeting during a Void that it’s best to clarify, edit, or clean-up a matter that needs culling. Starting a brand new idea or business during one of these might be too early to tell but the opportunity provides for an explorative session. Therefore, planning an event to begin on a Void Moon is not a good idea. Neither is signing an agreement or a contract, because more often than not, something was overlooked (not always intentionally) – it just didn’t come to ‘light’ until after the Moon is back on course, indicated by the ending of the black-out bar (all of which are set for Pacific Time) in our calendar.

The Void An interesting perspective comes from Eastern cultures regarding the Void, which is somewhat different than the astrological perspective. In the five hundred year old

2012 StarCycles© Calendar

All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

The Moon and the Eclipses One of the most predictable cycles is the 18.6 year nodal cycle which runs with the eclipses. Every 19 years, we have the same eclipses on precisely the same date! This repetitive cycle blasts open the same areas of your life every 18 to 19 years. Where you left off some 19 years ago is where you begin again but at a more evolutionary place. Since the keyword is evolution, at their return, they push you forward onto a new path that sequences the pattern of the last cycle, affording you opportunities to confront and change outworn patterns. The patterns for 2012 are almost exact as the eclipse degrees of 1993, particularly the May 20, June 4, November 13 and 28 eclipses. The eclipses that of 1993 are almost exactly on the same dates in 2012! This suggests challenges you were going through or making in 1993 return for you to review your life again in the same areas and move up the ladder of personal development. This suggests that those situations, thoughts, conditions left unresolved in1993 present new opportunities. It is very important to remain positive as you experience what seem like stressful changes particularly around those dates. This is true for all people, regardless of birth dates. However, it is particularly potent for those who celebrate their birthdays on these dates. Like DNA, whose strands appear like rungs in a spiral ladder, evolution occurs in your personal as well as professional lives if you remain open to new options. Many people are freed from past restrictions as transiting Uranus still in early degrees of Aries (the beginning of the zodiac) moves through your lives shaking up the bolted down psyches you are afraid to retrofit. The astronomers define an eclipse as “a temporary loss of light so that we see a shadow” which explains the often ‘dark’ feeling we experience when eclipses hit and particularly if they impact our personal horoscopes. The days or weeks before the eclipse hits are often filled with psychological darkness and exhaustion-our shadows. Remember that ‘dark’ is another word for a period of incubation which always comes before inspiration. Insights are rare with the ‘shadow’ because one is unable to see as clearly as one can ultimately see some 90 days later as indicated by the fireworks in the Starcycles calendar. Those 90 day windows reveal the rest of the story and provide clarity which is crystal clear. The times for these clarity windows are: February 18 to 21, March 5 to 10, August 15 to 20, and August 28 to September 2, 2012. These periods provide inspiration, clarity, and release. These approximate dates offer optimum time periods in which to make decisions and decide a direction that were blocked at the time of the eclipse. Human beings don’t make changes unless uncomfortable, and eclipses create more discomfort, ultimately forcing change. 2012 StarCycles© Calendar

2012 World Forecast In 2012, the Nodes shifting backwards towards Scorpio occur at the end of August, 2012. This marks a remarkable shift in direction for everyone. In addition, 2012’s rare Uranus Square Pluto begins continuing through 2015. These shifts afford the opportunity for change requiring sacrifice and compromise. Those understanding compromise lay down their sword to find solutions. This happens in both governments and families choosing prosperity over stuck fixed positions. Letting go of control is one of the great challenges of this aspect for everyone regardless of sign of the zodiac. However, if one witnesses the events of the last few years with the continuing downward spiral of the housing market and the ever increasing unemployment situation, this has to happen. There is an old saying that says when you come to the edge of all you know, you will be given roots to stand on and wings to fly. Uranus square Pluto produces sweeping changes over the course of the next three years. Prior to this, however, bankruptcies continue in companies, cities, and states and the geophysical environment is tentative to say the least. Uranus square Pluto shakes up the earth. The shift in August of the North Node into Scorpio requires sacrifice in order to get the ‘gold’. Too many people, in politics and the private sector, have been so entrenched in their individual camps, that nothing’s changed. The age of extremes and entitlement is coming to an end. Extreme spending, extreme credit, extreme thinking, and for those that continue on an inflexible path, is extreme failure. Indiscriminate spending or thinking is a symptom of one’s inability to connect to deeper emotional issues that are left unaddressed— thus the continued compulsions. The escalating economic losses throughout the world and not just in the USA require radical new thought and ideas whose strength lies in team or group efforts. In 2011, the series of politicians literally caught with their pants down, is a symptom of the above statement—the hubris of power and position. As more and more revelations of these types emerge throughout the three year Uranus square aspect to Pluto, hidden issues around money, sexuality, trust, and secret stashes surface and the floodgates open, forcing changes that bring the following: new construction, new thinking, and new systems and technologies. This event rarely occurs in history. The last time they did occur was between 1927 and 1935. However, the difference between then and now – was that then the cycle was winding down. It was what we call waning, like the Moon. However, this is the ‘building’ part of the cycle, the waxing phase of this aspect, which brings new structures, organization, and ideas. It is a fresh approach to old problems.

All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

This is encouraging as waxing phases indicate growth that come from concrete ideas emerging from conflict. They always follow Crescent phase cycles, which are all about red tape and overcoming obstacles and is the phase in which we’ve been for many years. The Uranus square Pluto taking place in the late 1920s and early 1930s was, of course, the Reform of many of the financial systems by Roosevelt, but they were the result of a waning cycle of growth. There is a difference. That was an ending cycle without any knowledge of the future – i.e. hopelessness. If we reverse that thinking, the Reform of that time is now up for restructuring. Other cycles in history with similar waxing patterns are the following: 1624 to 1628, 1755 to 1758 and 1876 to 1878. These were periods of great unrest as the Pilgrims left England for religious freedom. Between 1755 and 1758 was the pre-American Revolution as colonists strangled by the increasing taxation by England, began a new government, which ended in a new country. 1876 to 1878 was the post-civil war reconstruction period, which included the expansion of 6,000 miles of railroad across the country. The expansion of the railroad, it is said, was why Lincoln had won the war. He used the railroads to commandeer supplies to the Union army behind Confederate lines. Fast forward 2012 to 2015 where the Super Trains find their place in contemporary transport. The Super Trains are partially run by computer chips and this combined with other energy efficient fuels promises many changes in this industry. Uranus wakes us up to the transformative power of new energy discoveries (Pluto). In a recent Economist article, an efficient method of harnessing the Sun’s energy through a more advanced photovoltaic cell is encouraging. Education in America is another very big issue finally addressed close to the end of 2012. This is the key to any country’s prosperity and growth. If the government cannot fund it, then the private sector must. New tax laws encouraging investment by the private sector on behalf of their employees and their community is groundbreaking. Re-channeling some of the holdings of the larger companies into education as another form of tax break is possible. At this writing (2011), the government sits on committee deciding whether or not make $4 trillion worth of tax cuts! The idea of corporations paying for education as a tax break could serve many. This could be for their employees, but also as a tax break if contributing towards state educations. For those unemployed for a very long time, reform in unemployment could include the requirement of so many hours a week of volunteer service. This provides a practical way for the unemployed to gain a foothold with a company, 2012 StarCycles© Calendar

while offering qualified help to those organizations unable to pay for help due to the current economic situation. This could work since limited resources prevent hiring, but with the work force still at risk and with great talent hidden within, this is one of those perfect merging solutions. This is the perfect three-year window for new entrepreneurs, world citizens, and international merchants. With that said mergers of some of the most unlikely combinations form between private citizens, organizations and government. The key to the entire reform model is the synergy between very different industries that have something that works for the other. This year is about waking up to what you can do to transform your life and your situation. Where will you wake up and change? What are you willing to release that you believe you cannot live without???

Private Phone Consultations with Georgia Stathis are back! So many requests have come in for individual consultations (as well as business consultations) that I’ve decided to take a few clients per week for phone appointments. Click here to schedule one online! I’ve worked with many of you for over 30 years — most of all my clients are referred and I love that. When I started working with you, I was very young and working in an office. Now I’m working on the phone and the sessions are better than ever!

(

Individual phone consultations are now available for either a one hour session or a one and a half hour session. Both sessions include a great deal of preparation time, thus the fee. One hour is $250 and one and a half hours is $325.

Before the call, I need your date of birth, exact time of birth, and city and state of birth. When you call into the number at your set appointment time, I record the call. You can get either a CD by mail, or an MP3 can be sent directly to you through email. If you wish a more comprehensive analysis of your company and your chart, then it is prorated by the amount of time it takes to analyze the data and then present it to you. The more specific you are about your needs, the more efficient the session time is. I’ll send you a form that expedites this process. Sessions are available Pacific time Mondays through Fridays.

The Planets

So What About Those Retrogrades?

house, property, silver, land, commodities, birthing, security needs.

The operative prefix here is “re.” “Re” occurs in such words as reiterate, reinvestigate, re-think, retrieve, and re-evaluate. The list goes on and on. So, even though they look and feel as though they are moving us backwards, retrograde planets serve a greater purpose. They force us to re-evaluate and re-think the way we do things. That is why we suggest not signing contracts or buying new cars during Mercury retrogrades, but you sure can find out more about these things, as well as realize that perhaps you do need a new contract, or a new approach in the contract, or, need to reword it.

2 n Mercury: Your thinking process, your mind, communication, books, letters, neighbors, siblings, trade, commerce, news, manuscripts, intellect, learning, study, licensing, teaching, short trips, analysis, transport, ideas.

Perhaps the car, the appointment, the payment is delayed or lost or miswritten. This is a definite sign. Do it over again and discover more clarity when the planet either goes direct or catches up to its Shadow Point (see legend).

1 n Venus: Relationships-personal and professional; your values, pleasure,

Mercury is one of the more common cycles. It is retrograde about three times a year for three weeks at a time. It affects everyone differently based on where it is moving backwards through the sky and your chart. It affects each person differently, because it is retrograde in different parts of different peoples’ charts. In general, however, it does create a kind of back-pedaling for a few weeks and is indicated accordingly in our calendar by the no communication symbol or the green shading.

In this section is an explanation for each planet. The colors are used throughout the calendar to represent each planet.

0 n The Sun: Your life, physical energy, citrus, stocks, gold, will, father, bosses,

advancement, willpower, sports, speculation, gambling, honor, rank, your heart, gold, and health.

beauty, clothing adornment, liquidity, cash flow, voice, romance, art, art supplies, copper, furnishings, seduction.

6 n Mars: Courage and motivation, what drives you, diamonds, tools, strategy, passion, action and reaction, manufacturing, tasks, lust, army, machinery, equipment, foundries, cutting, surgery, fire, iron.

Opportunities, publishing, protection, luck, great wealth, overindulgence, distant travels, import and export, marketing, writing, consulting, religion, philosophy, bonds, large animals, and higher education.

There are also other retrogrades throughout the year. The outer and much slower planets take months and the weeks in which they are slowing down are marked by backwards arrows and the weeks they are beginning to move into direct motion are marked by the ➠ forward arrows and clear blue shading.

issues, authority issues, business, planning, managing, structures, real estate, builders, teeth and bones, elderly, delays, lead, conservation, and fortitude.

These are very important too and offer us an opportunity during the course of a few months to re-think our planning in the area in which they retrograde and motion direct. It is just amazing during the weeks they slow down or turn direct...everything either feels sluggish or energized depending upon the point in that cycle in which it is found.

4 n Saturn: Constriction, responsibility, discipline, inhibition, fear, survival

3 n Uranus: Innovative thinking, electricity, excitement, rebellion, unorthodox,

5 n Jupiter:

out of the blue opportunities, sudden changes, chaos, alchemy, magic, being in the right place at the right time, inventions, astrology, stars, Internet, computers, multimedia, video and audio tapes, communication networks, large land developers and wholesalers, big dealers.

Retrogrades, in general, are really welcome cycles in that they slow things down so that we review our choices and our directions. They are the ‘cosmic brakes’ that we all need occasionally. Use them well.

illusion, visions, alcohol, drugs, dance, music, art, theatre, photography, dismemberment, depression, elation, mystical experiences, thieves, wine, petroleum, fishing, boats, psychic abilities, intuition, tin.

Every sign corresponds to one of the four elements – Earth, Air, Water and Fire. Throughout the calendar this year, we’ve color-coded the day numbers to correspond to the Element colors. For example, when the Sun travels through Capricorn in January, it is indicated by the dates in green. Green is associated with the Earth signs representing growth. When the Sun ingresses into Aquarius on January 19, you see blue, which represents the Air signs – the intellectual and communication element. When the Sun travels through a Water sign, the emotional and fluid signs, you see light purple, and, finally, you see orange for the very active and inspired Fire signs.

` n Neptune: Mergers, fantasy, erotic pleasure, meditation and visualization, 7 n Pluto: Elimination, transformation, empowerment, choice, investments,

estates, death, birth, re-generation, compulsion, renewal, power struggles, redevelopment, digging, nuclear power, research, investigation, discovery, shadow parts of personality, shamanism, obsession, wealth, creative, need to completely change things which requires release and letting go.

Jan. 23 to April 13: Mars Retrograde, 23° Virgo 05’. When Mars is retrograde, it feels as though everything is delayed. In Virgo, it is particularly irritating. If you change the perspective of ‘irritation’ to ‘re-organization and efficiency’, then you will fare better during this time. Caution should be exercised when jumping into new projects. Feb. 3, 11:04 am, Neptune enters Pisces. 165 years ago, a new and larger spiritual perspective existed. This begins a new cycle of sorrow leading to altruism and hope, the merging of people and ideas to create a new and more intimate life. Awareness grows over the course of the next 14 years with regard to the rights of individuals, the care of all water bodies and awareness regarding their toxins and changing that. In addition, health care and the incorporation of the holistic approach for prevention incorporate seamlessly with traditional medicine. Civil rights for everyone dominate the environment. This also requires civil responsibility. If you don’t help, you don’t get. Karma is immediate. Feb. 7, 6:04 am, Saturn Retrograde! 29° Libra 30’. At the last degree of a sign, Saturn retrogrades back through Libra until October 5. This time provides opportunity to fix or rectify any relationships that either aren’t working and could work, or, aren’t working and never will. There is something to be said about being too fair when only one person is giving. This last run also changes the laws of the land when it comes to the rights of others. Feb. 18-21, 90 Days after Eclipses. Clarity and Wild insights! This is a wake-up week! When these 90-day periods arrive, the confusion one had around the eclipses at the end of 2011 becomes clear. You know what to do. Even if you don’t want to. You make the changes you probably knew you should make then – now. Mar. 5-10, 90 Days after Eclipses. Clarity and Wild insights! This is a wake-up week! When these 90-day periods arrive, the confusion one had around the eclipses at the end of 2011 becomes clear. You know what to do. Even if you don’t want to. You make the changes you probably knew you should make then – now. Apr. 10, 3:06 am, Pluto retrograde at 09° Capricorn 33’. STOP! Think! Regroup! Apr. 13, 8:36 pm, Mars Direct!!!! 03° Virgo 40’. All systems go for getting things back on track and getting things done as motivation returns. The momentum continues all the way through June 20 when it returns to the place at which it went retrograde – shadow point – a lot gets done this spring, including cleaning out your home, your office and those things that have become ‘toxic’! May 15, 7:34 am, Venus retrograde at 23° Gemini 59’. When Venus retrogrades (every two years), she gets more assertive and aggressive. This could be a very anxious time for people as she is in Gemini and this can split relationships and ideas into several directions. It is also the time when everyone reviews their primary relationships or chooses to study or review lessons or writings. She is direct on June 27, but doesn’t really get back on track until late July when you’ve figured things out. Don’t make any major relationship decisions until late June or July.

May 20, 4:48 pm, Annular Solar Eclipse, New Moon, 00° Gemini 21’. Those born in early Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are about to experience changes in the major parts of their lives – identity, family, home, long-term relationships and career and reputation. More on this in 90-days. Last time this hit was in May 1993! June 4, 4:13 am, Partial Lunar Eclipse, Full Moon, 14° Sagittarius 14’. Those born in the middle of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are experiencing emotional upheaval and waking up to their emotional baggage as well as their emotional strengths. This is a decision-making eclipse based on information of the last few months. More clarity arrives in 90-days. Last time this eclipse hit you was June 4, 1993. June 4, 7:41 am, Neptune retrograde, 03° Pisces 09’. Stop, look and listen and take a breath. People get very tired during Neptune retrograde weeks, but the good news, is that you start to sleep a lot better. You know what you need to dissolve in your life and now you do something about it. June 11, 10:22 am, Jupiter enters Gemini!! New Starts and Double Luck!! Things perk up over the course of the next year as Jupiter takes one year to travel through a sign. Gemini is lively, loves to talk and solve problems. Lots of new media, communication vehicles, transportation information and communication devices show up this year. Keep exercising to keep yourself grounded as this energy is very restless because the mind is working 24-hours a day. Last time Jupiter was in Gemini was 2000. June 24, 2:13 am, Uranus square Pluto, 8°Aries23’ and 8°Capricorn23’. This is a very important aspect lasting for the next three years! It changes everything and particularly changes our consciousness regarding our lives and how it fits into the larger world around us. There are explosions of awareness as well as natural disasters that we continue to see that continue to explode open our consciousness. They run hand in hand. Revelations regarding things being done behind the scenes shock – then offer a way out – and then offer a new format of living for all of us. Working smart becomes easier with the new technologies. Working hard is necessary. No one can be entitled anymore because this changes everything on a large scale. Read the forecast for more insight. June 24, 11:29 pm, Saturn Direct! 22° Libra45’. Things get done and you get on with it. Set boundaries and move on! June 25, 12:56 am, Jupiter square Neptune. Counting on something that isn’t tangible and overextending yourself financially is the danger here. It is a great time to expand your ideas and imagination, but not a great time to bank money on it unless you have enough information. Not everything everyone tells you is true or complete. Water issues for everyone – both physically and emotionally.

K

June 27, 8:05 am, Venus direct! 07° Gemini 29’. All systems go for alliances and expressing your needs. Decisions are made in the next few weeks arising from the caution of the last few weeks. July 13, 2:49 pm, Uranus Retrograde! 8° Aries 32’. Things come to a grinding halt in large organizations that have to make decisions. All the facts are on the table, but now you have to research the facts. This is where the real work begins.

July 24, 6:09 am, Jupiter square Chiron. There may be a lot of questions regarding the right way to say something to someone that needs to be told something. Whichever way you cut it, it may seem cruel or harsh. However, the truth is the truth. Coming from a non-accusatory position, but from an observational position is the best tactic. In other words, saying “When you said or did this….rather than YOU did this…” works best. Aug. 15-19: 90 Days after Eclipses. Clarity and Wild insights! This is a wake-up week! When these 90-day periods arrive, the confusion one had around the eclipses in May and June become clear. You know what to do. Even if you don’t want to. You make the changes you probably knew you should make then – now. Aug. 28-31: 90 Days after Eclipses. Clarity and Wild insights! This is a wake-up week! When these 90-day periods arrive, the confusion one had around the eclipses in May and June become clear. You know what to do. Even if you don’t want to. You make the changes you probably knew you should make then – now. Sept. 17, 10:07 pm, Pluto Direct! 06° Capricorn 57’. This motion often starts a hard week when hard choices are made changing the course of many peoples’ lives. Sometimes these choices are out of our hands – but in the hands of a higher power. Pluto direct often ends situations accompanied by grief and sorrow, but which, ultimately, bring change and transformation of circumstances. A new path opens because of this. Know that there is a greater order working here. Sept. 18, 10:57 pm, Retrograde Uranus square Pluto. 06° Aries 57’ and 06° Capricorn 57’. No one is entitled anymore because we are dealing with a larger perspective that is more inclusive rather than exclusive. Read the forecast for more insight. Oct. 5, 2:45 am, Mercury conjunct Saturn, 29° Libra 56’. This is a good time for writing, researching, editing and studying something. This isn’t necessarily a lot of fun, but things do get done. Oct. 5, 1:34 pm, Saturn enters Scorpio!! This is a 30-year cycle! The last time Saturn was in Scorpio was between 1983 and 1985. Saturn represents perception of limitation. In the sign of Scorpio, the perception is that there are limitation of resources, when, in fact, new and strategic collaborations eliminate this fear. The issue is of trusting others, but the better issue is learning how to ask the right questions in order to accomplish an intensely personal union that affords prosperity and trust. These are the lessons of the next few years. Everyone has to come up to the plate and be honest and straightforward about their own foibles in order to get closer rather than further apart.

Nov. 10, 11:53 pm, Neptune Direct!! 00° Pisces 21’. Take a deep breath and proceed into the next creative dimension. The ideas percolating out of the last few months find a venue. Nov. 13, 2:07 pm, Total Solar Eclipse, New Moon, 21° Scorpio 56’. This begins a new series for the signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Those born in the last few days of these signs are most affected. This series of eclipses covers the next year and a half and the major issues with these are the issues of security, procreation, future investing, intimacy and trust, and your place in community. These areas are all changing. Nov. 14, 12:36 pm, Chiron Direct! 04° Pisces 58’. Don’t be surprised if something or someone shows up as a teacher or coach during this week – it might even be something someone said that changes your life that wasn’t that pleasant, but true. This information shifts your gears and helps heal a split you feel inside. Nov. 28, 6:46 am, Annular Lunar Eclipse, Full Moon, 06° Gemini 46’. This is what I call the “Chernobyl” eclipse because it is the last leftover eclipse from the cycle of 2010 and 2011. Clear all the bases of your life that have been taking up space in terms of paperwork, sibling issues, neighbor issues, health, personal philosophies that are limiting and stodgy beliefs…get going to a new future. Dec. 13, 4:02 am, Uranus Direct! 04° Aries 36’. All systems go for new ideas, sparkle, magic, insights, out of the box experiences, those ah-ha moments and getting it right with the help of others who play a crucial role for this new direction.

Mercury Retrograde Periods: Mercury was the ‘winged messenger’ in mythology bringing messages without becoming invested in the outcome of the information. When Mercury retrogrades, looks like it is going backwards, it is time to re-assess recent information, thoughts, ideas, and plans. It is the perfect time for all words that begin with the prefix “re”. Re-wind, re-think, reedit, re-investigate and re-structure are just a few of the activities that are appropriate during this time. Mercury retrogrades are not the time to start something completely new, or, if you do, when it goes direct, you decide which direction to take. Mar. 12, 12:45 am, Mercury Retrograde, 06° Aries 48’. Communications and equipment slows down. Apr. 4, 3:05 am, ( Mercury Direct! 23° Pisces 50’. Communications and equipment back on track. July 14, 7:16 pm, Mercury Retrograde, 12° Leo 32’. I Am the Dragon poem ©Theodora Lau Article by Robert Daley I am the unquenchable fire, the center of all energy, the stout heroic heart. I am truth and light, I hold power and glory in my sway. My presence disperses dark clouds. I have been chosen to tame the Fates. I am the Dragon That’s the essence of the ethereal Dragon, for the Dragon is the mythical being of Chinese Zodiac. You see the Dragon coursing through every Chinese New Year’s parade. They love him for he protects them from all manner of evil. Some folks believe it all ends on 12-21-2012. That’s when the Mayans chose to stop their rolling calendar, so some people give them omniscience. Truth is, they may not have known how to proceed to the next phase. This phase is marked with endings to many celestial timetables, all at the same point, 26° of Sagittarius. We are witness to the unfolding of something new. I have heard that the way has been clearing between the Galactic Center, located at 26° of Sagittarius, and us. The Galactic Center is the Center of our Milky Way Galaxy. It is the source of most of the gravitational energy present in our galaxy. With nothing stopping the radiation from the Center we’re in for a warmer time. We’ve seen the effects: Our glacial ice packs have been melting and weather all over the globe has been erratic. We began this clearance back in 1987, 25 years ago. Presumably it will take 25 years from now to reach normal. In the meantime we’re still chugging along, on-track to receive the Water Dragon as a primary influence. The element associated with this year’s Dragon is water. Water Dragon energy is like a flowing river. Things move forward, ideas and creativity are enthusiastically expressed, economies improve, and love blossoms. It is likely to be an exciting year. The Dragon is associated with spring and is tempered by the water’s sensitive, calming influence. New love can blossom or an old one rekindle, making 2012 the perfect year for engagements, weddings and celebrations. Good luck and opportunities grow from thoughtfully planting the seeds. The Dragon is a symbol of good fortune in Chinese Astrology. Under this influence, it is a good year to take a chance on those long held dreams. The Dragon confidence and enthusiasm gives us the best chance to act on what seemed impossible. 2012 StarCycles© Calendar

The last time the Water Dragon made an appearance was1952. During this year, The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Dr Albert Schweitzer for his lecture “The Problem of Peace”, Elizabeth II became Queen of England, and King Farouk I was ousted by a military coup in Egypt. It brings to mind the ancient mythologies of Saint George and his conquest of the Dragon. That story was an ancient myth of Perseus and Andromeda which reverted into the Christian stories where the Dragon plays the role of Sin and Saint George gets rid of him, encouraging all to do likewise. Overall, 2012 is destined for financial extremes, cultural and political developments that further stretch our need for tolerance, and celebrations of all kinds. Good luck will be coming your way.

Lunar Apogees and Perigees for 2012 Following is a list showing dates when the Moon is closest to the Earth during its orbit (Perigee) and furthest from the Earth during its orbit (Apogee). When closer, the Moon appears larger and when furthest, it appears smaller. These events affect the tides and with that idea in mind, probably affect humans as well, particularly those with a strong Moon influence in their horoscopes. It would be interesting to see if, in fact, these changes affect the various markets – since the Moon is representative of the ‘public mood’. Enjoy!! 2012 Mini-Forecast by Sign Following is a brief forecast for each of the signs of the zodiac. If you know your Ascendant, then check the section under A Little Bit about Astrology for a chart that approximates it for you. Then read both. This information is no substitute for more comprehensive analysis of your chart.

Leo: You transform your home environment in order to accommodate a new lifestyle and profession. If you aren’t doing it, your partner is. Reconstruction in the environment both physically and psychologically is a given. Patience is required as you take on new responsibilities that require lots of time.

Aries: Awaken to new ways in which to draw resources to you based on your past skills and experiences. Think bigger and re-align yourself with the right people and partners to accomplish this goal. Relationships continue to challenge. Media welcomes your expertise and the public does, too. Taurus: Awaken to new ways of marketing yourself and your products hitting a larger demographic. Creative juices flow and your need for time alone increases thus accommodating this process. Your identity in the outer world is shifting over the course of the next seven years. Be selective with friends – some drain you and keep you from your path. Others are there to help. Gemini: In order to accomplish new goals, you have to release those things you’ve held on to for future security. Liquidate and recapitulate for a clearer perspective on what really works for you and what doesn’t. Details of daily life are overwhelming if you don’t engage help or assistance. Cancer: You break away from partnerships and alliances that are confining or don’t share your same vision. This is difficult because of your deep loyalty. Your creative juices are flowing and working with others to help them create their vision helps you gain your resources. Stop rescuing.

2012 StarCycles© Calendar

Virgo: Turmoil in the area of joint resources requires a different response from you. You start a completely new money making cycle. You are busy right now, writing, editing, or organizing your space so you can do this. You may have to set boundaries with others to reduce your anxiety levels. Libra: In order to increase your resources, you have to increase your value for yourself. You are tested in this area. Getting help at home to do the things you think you should be doing yourself means hiring others so you can do what you are supposed to. Changing your methods and systems is painful, but necessary to up the ante. Be more direct and less accommodating. Scorpio: This seems like a tedious time physically. Health feels compromised, but this is because your mind is moving at one hundred miles an hour. You learn new techniques, systems and methods and ways to cope with your day to day life. You need more freedom to accomplish balance and get to the things that give you pleasure, which includes personal relationships. Sagittarius: All the foundations of your life are changing. You move deeper into your psyche and return to your creative roots, which are screaming for attention. If you have to give up some of that security to have more fun, or, opportunities to reconnect with children or the child within, then do it. Whether you know it or not, you are in transition with career.

Aquarius: Sales, communications, information services are all opening to you this year as you choose to transform your occupation. This could mean studying for a new license or degree and this is the time in which to do that. Remember, when you have to choose between pleasure and pain, always choose pain first… then pleasure is a true reward! Pisces: You move into a seven year cycle of commission type work ending the limitation of resources you’ve experienced only if you are willing to change your technology. Your research of many years finds its way to the right people. Writing scripts, poetry, poems, blogs, essays, journals or teaching materials are highlighted. Organizations and friends support your efforts.

K Uranus Square Pluto K This three-year and very rare cycle requires much flexibility from those who have difficulties with being out of control. If you allow change in, then the change embraces you. If you do not, then it swallows you up. This is a time to awaken to new ways of rebuilding and rethinking the way we live our deepest lives. Sudden surprises are the signposts in the road that change is coming whether one likes it or not! We’re using K lightning to mark the days it hits, as well as the week before and after. 2012 StarCycles© Calendar

Dec. 31, 10:16 pm, r First Quarter Moon, 10° Aries 13’. Build. Jan. 1, ❏ Mercury Shadow Point. Sun and Pluto only happen once a year! It is intense, meaningful, deep, and a lot is changing or transforming in your immediate environment – your home or someone else’s home. Since it is also a First Quarter moon week, this could be a great time to start that ‘in house’ remodel project. It could include plumbing, remodeling the bathrooms or kitchen – always important for resale in a property. It could also suggest some decisions are made (particularly with Mercury reaching its Shadow Point), to move or relocate. These are all discussions that have been on the table, but the financial climate is better now that it was in the past, particularly since Jupiter is now direct in Taurus, which is about security and monies. Indecision achieves clarity as Mercury enters Capricorn on January 7 and then sends a supportive aspect to Jupiter the following day. This is one of those rare weeks where Mars, the planet of motivation and direction, begins its retrograde period. This often delays plans and sends people scurrying to find an answer here and there. Plans that have been unclear up to now may require another couple of months before you have all the relevant information you need to create an organized plan. As Americans, this doesn’t sit with the impatient aspect of our psyche, but, in fact, may be the wisest thing we can do until Mars goes direct in mid April!!! Use this time to research and talk with others from different cultures. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

The last fourteen years are over and a new fourteen year cycle begins. For those born in late Taurus, Scorpio, Leo or Aquarius, this promises clearer focus and the release of control. For those born at the beginning of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius, the next two years require reconnecting with your more spiritual/creative psyches—they miss you! For workaholics, taking time off is the first step. It’s time for more creative activities.

Optimistic feelings abound as you gain insight regarding what is really important to you and what you need to shed that you’ve been resisting. The Uranus shadow point brings back into the picture some of the ideas that began back in July, 2011! Moving, remodeling, changing it up are all highlighted. Everyone has been looking forward to the large ‘exhale’ that Mars brings when it goes direct. And this is the week in which that happens. Starting construction or starting that project that has had you befuddled begins to move in a more positive direction as the direction of Mars shifts. Putting the hard work effort into whatever needs to be done and even losing a little sleep isn’t so bad this week. Judge and mark your time and lay out a time chart for what needs to be done. The New Moon in Taurus suggests that the next four weeks are about beautifying yourself, your home, your garden. This week’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is very intense. The markets may be affected very much like they were affected in June and July of 2011, since this eclipse is the exact opposite of the June 15, 2011 eclipse. If you started making changes then, the rest of the story and changes appear this month. Remember that Venus is still retrograde and though she really loves hanging out with the Sun this week, she is still retrograde, still quite aggressive and may, at times, be less agreeable than usual. This could be a week of confrontations – so cool your jets if your jets are getting too riled. Jupiter is finishing in Taurus so just take it slow. So here it is, finally, the infamous Uranus square Pluto aspect that we all have to learn to live with for the next three years. The severe economic problems of the last three years are now dealt with rather than just discussed. This is what they call a First Quarter Square of the two – very different than the same aspect that happened between 1927 and 1935. In fact, it is the same relationship that occurs after a long period of discord. In other words, it is the problem solving phase of the two. With Saturn direct this week and Mars reaching the position at which it went retrograde, we could actually begin on the right track to success. So you started your think-tank last week, fabulous! This week with Uranus and Mercury going retrograde, your ‘team’ needs to assign duties to those best suited to those duties. The idea being that information is needed to move to the next step. Retrogrades are great for finding things out. Ideas are great, but need foundation in order to work. Foundation is what Sun square Saturn offers on the 14th. What needs to go? What is it that you can’t live without? Streamlining lives and companies is the first step before growth. Sometimes one must let go of the past in order to have a great future. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

This might be the perfect time to engage new legal aid. Get another opinion – one that is fresh and aware of the newer laws. Find people who know about getting grants. Even with a struggling economy, there are grants for education, for venture capital and people who know how to get them. Here we are again at the ‘fireworks’ highlight in our calendar – the 90-days after the eclipses cycle. What you didn’t see before, you now see very clearly over the course of the next few weeks. What you see may not be very pleasant and requires a little bit of a hard-nosed decision or two. That Venus opposite Pluto and the Mars conjunct Saturn provide you with more of a Teflon based skin as you tell the truth to someone about what you’ve found out, or, what you prefer that they do. It may seem like a loss, but as the New Moon and the Mercury trine Uranus at week’s end, you know it was the right thing to do. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

When the Sun enters Virgo each year, children go back to school and we all start coming home from summer vacations. It is the time of year for sorting through our lives. Picking and choosing what is useful and discarding the items we’ve outgrown is a great thing to do over the course of the next four weeks and to be particularly ruthless in doing that as Mars is also in Scorpio. If you haven’t worn it in a few years and really are waiting for those ‘bling’ jeans to come back, then this is probably the time to let them go or give them to someone who appreciates them. As you can see from this long list of aspects, this is a very busy week. Jupiter retrograde helps everyone put on the brakes if things have been going too fast. Saturn is finishing its run in Libra, where it has been since 2010, and begins its two and a half year run in Scorpio. Whereas the issues of the last few years were clarifying relationships and what works and what doesn’t work. Now, with Saturn in Scorpio, it is time to build something new with people you trust. Trust of others could be an issue for everyone in these next two and a half years. The only way one develops trust is to ask the right questions, observe and not rush into judgment. Each of us has to open up in some area in order for things to flow both ways. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

Nov. 4, 2:00 am, U.S. Standard Time begins. Change clocks back 1 hour! Once in a while it makes sense to take a timeout. If you put your pedal to the metal last week, which many of you did, then with this week’s Mercury square Neptune, it is time to take a break – get a massage, go to a movie, take the day off and just hang out with friends or loved ones, read a favorite book, even eat something that you normally don’t eat – nurture yourself in whatever way works for you this week as the Full Moon releases a lot of old junk – you decide on the junk. It comes in different forms!

J ` Neptune Direct, 00° Pisces 21’.

It is always a good week when planets go direct. This week has its mixed bag, however, because though Neptune, the planet of vision and imagination, is finally turning direct, helping all our psyches get back on track, there is that Mercury retrograde again for the next few weeks. As has been noted before, Mercury retrogrades are NOT bad. They are a terrific time to catch-up, finish projects, answer calls you’ve put off and just do a general catch-up. If you’ve some new projects cooking, then jot down the ideas, but don’t officially start them until Mercury is direct on November 26. The holidays are coming, start taking down the flashy holiday items! It’s fun! All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

This week affords you the opportunity to unearth some of your wonderful skills or gifts and share with others. A Total Solar Eclipse (New Moon) is often associated with outer life events, world leaders, and global changes that affect all of us. Many times we see the changes surrounding this sort of an eclipse within about 80 to 90 days after the eclipse. Since it is in Scorpio, it suggests major purging in peoples’ lives. Lifestyles either change or end as Chiron goes direct and Mars enters Capricorn. If you’ve thought about changing jobs, going back to school, this is appropriate. Close the books on the past. With all the Mars and Venus aspects this week, relationships or relationship dynamics are highlighted. Some days are great for communicating needs and the others – like those square dates may be days to say, “I’ll call you tomorrow!” With the First Quarter Moon encouraging objectivity, this is a very good strategy. The Sun in Sagittarius always heralds a few weeks of major activity and energy and the need for having some sort of long leash while doing what you need to do to make life work. Hopefully, your partners understand. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

This is the last eclipse of the series that began in late 2010. I call these last eclipses the ‘Chernobyl Eclipses’. In other words, whatever problems or issues that were not resolved over the course of the last two years – improving communications, finishing writing projects, or deciding which schools to attend are all in decision mode right now as Mercury has just gone direct. There are some sacrifices with the decisions made. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

December 3-9, 2012 Dec. 6, 7:33 am, + Last Quarter Moon, 14 ° Virgo 55’, Rest. It seems like there isn’t much going on this week with just a Last Quarter Moon, which suggests resting and getting ready for the new cycle beginning next week. However, this is the week in which Mars, activities, trading, scouting and motivation, moves through the 12th degree of Capricorn, which seems to be a sensitive degree in charts of the USA. The markets may be playing havoc during this week, particularly since we just had a Lunar Eclipse in the last week, usually a time for trends to shift. It is, however, the end of the year and many take their profits. Remember to leave a little money on the table. You might need it after the first of the year. The changes in the markets could continue this week as Mercury, which rules trading, contracting, and problem solving is in a challenging aspect to Neptune, which is spacey, foggy and unclear. If you really aren’t sure about a decision compelling you, I suggest you wait a few days until Uranus goes direct and Mercury receives a positive insight from Uranus on the 14th. Remember, too, this is the last week before the season changes. The last week before any season shifts is often frantic. After December 21, Winter Solstice, things snap back into order. Many of the aspects for this week suggest a very optimistic state of mind – however – watch that spending and those credit card charges particularly on those days where Mercury and Venus aspect Jupiter. Jupiter is Santa Claus – often depicted as fat and happy without a care in the world. In light of the many changes occurring at the end of 2012, it is a good idea to put Santa on a little diet. No one is suggesting anything too stringent, but just enough to maintain plans set into place over the course of this last year. All Times Calculated for Pacific (Standard or Daylight) Time

Mars entering Aquarius is very unusual and suggests a more eccentric approach to all things – fashion, work, career, profession. Anything that is out of the box in terms of marketing might be just the ticket. That along with the Full Moon in Cancer, which lets go of those traditions that keep you stuck, provide a good window of opportunity to move things in a different direction. The Sun aligned with Pluto is about making choices that involve a certain degree of risk be it emotional or financial. You might feel that making that turn in the road is dangerous. So? Life is all about those turns! Sometimes we don’t do things because we are too afraid to let go of a sure thing, but the sure thing is what often needs to go! Mars square Saturn weeks, very rare, are great weeks for working hard and getting lots of things done. That aspect along with Venus entering action-based Capricorn welcomes the New Moon in the 21st degree of Capricorn, which is the Virgo section of Capricorn. This combination offers a great time for starting habits that stick. Changing just one habit – maybe it is walking regularly, or, journaling regularly, or, getting regular acupuncture treatments or massages – something – will help you get ‘unstuck’!
