Design Development and Detailed Design for the expansion of Domes Miramare Corfu Luxury Resort.

Located on a 25.000 sq.m. sloping site, the inactive building facilities of the upper part of the resort are fully modified functionally and morphologically in order to create a modern accommodation of international standards, upgraded in terms of energy efficiency. is at the same time exposed to sunlight, was implement with a shading system along with the use of reinvented traditional arches – a core element of Corfu’s architecture. The upgraded hotel complex consists of a main building of common amenities, three room wings (69 rooms of 40 sq.m. - 68 sq.m.), a spa facility, a pool area and an extended network of designed indoor and outdoor pathways that lead to the rooms.

Big Bang School is located in a rural area of Chalkidiki peninsula, on a slopping 18.752 sq.m. site with a view to the Thermaic Gulf. The main intention of the project was the integration of all the building elements in the rural landscape with the minimum impact on the environment. The building consists of three units (wings) of classrooms placed in three different levels, connected through semi-outdoor spaces. Each unit is a single floor space that includes

four classrooms, art studio, sanitary accommodation, kitchenette and common areas for events or lunch. All the classrooms are facing south, to their adjoining courtyards, in order to derive maximum benefit from sunlight. Based on the same bioclimatic architecture principles, there is an extended use of passive and active systems such as canopies, solar shades, air conditioning appliances, solar collectors and outdoor light structures like wooden pergolas.

contrast with the white interior spaces. Blinds on the ground floor are used for security reasons as well as an outward sign of the base / entrance of the building. Project completed in 2019.

Personal Project

Proposal for the conversion of “Evripides Hotel” (79 Evripidou Str, Athens, Greece) into an experimental space of research and applications for technologies of virtual and augmented reality. Properly equipped work areas are available for research in “Rapturehood Studios”, while the use of hotel is preserved through rental rooms that offer guests the necessary tools for exploring and designing the new technology. An exhibition space, a small dining area / bar and an open air cinema are also included. Addable metal structures create spaces that “plug into” the existing building, generating new uses. Simultaneously, they create open and closed balconies (in the form of VR masks / headsets) that are the only “windows” of the building. The project includes a theoretical framework of 8.500 words.

The visuals of the project include elements of images from the following videogames: “Half-Life 2” (2004 – 2007), “Journey” (2012), “Bioshock infinite” (2013), “Monument Valley” (2014), “The Witness” (2016) as well as from the following movies: “Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), “Blade runner” (1982), Romeo + Juliet (1996), “Eyes wide shut” (1999), “Tron: Legacy” (2010), “The Wind Rises” (2013) and Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).

The proposed building consists of the base, the plaza / garden and the “prism”. A tree-lined path passes through the sheltered “heart” of Medical School: the “Hippocrates Scape”. This garden coexists with the open meeting space, the plaza, which is the upper surface of the building’s solid base – where the laboratories are.

*Collaboration with the office mainly during the presentation process – 3D modeling, renderings, Photoshop & concept diagrams.

Inside the elevated “prism” the public space develops into an open balcony that frames the garden. The prism’s perimeter spaces of classrooms and offices are enclosed by the perforated and transforming shell. The prism “hovers” next to the adjacent buildings, offering panoramic views while its form distinguish it.
