For the modest price of $5.99, you can get a f l u sh -act i v at ed t oi l et n i gh t l i gh t that changes color every 15 seconds. To install, you attach the AAA battery-charged light on the rim of the bowl and turn it on. The one bulb requires just 3 AAA batteries. You can also u pgr ade you r t oilet for four dollars, to include 16 colors, a fragrance releaser, and a UV sterilizer. The light-up latrine is weird, but there?s weirder.

Starting at $34.99, the com bat

in a war zone. These skirmish sandals come with velcro on the toe grips so you can stick your oper at or pat ch es on the front. The company that makes the flip-flops sells custom patches with things like the American flag embroidered on them. The patches retail from five to eight dollars and are sold separately.

If you?ve ever been in a situation where you've accidentally wet your pants, the In st an t Un d er p an t s that sell for $5.88 are a perfect answer. The undergarments come in a tin that opens up to reveal a compact pellet. When soaked

Jor dan Romer o: Youngest per son t o Cl imb t he Seven Summit s by George Beck

Born in Big Bear Lake, California in 1996, Jordan Romero was destined to be the youngest person to climb the Seven Summits. When Jordan saw a mural of all Seven Summits at school, he knew immediately that he wanted to climb them. His father and step-mother, Paul and Karen Romero, helped him reach his goal.

His journey started in 2006 when he was 10 years old. He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and immediately fell in love with mountain climbing. For the next three years he climbed and trained around the world while still keeping up with school. In May of 2010, Jordan started climbing Mount Everest. When he reached the top at 29,029 feet he was on top of the world. After this record breaking time he only had one more mountain to climb. In Antarctica, he finished his goal that he started seven years earlier by climbing all Seven Summits.

FEATURED CAR:

Huracan by William Hoge An Editors?Choice of Car and Driver, the Lamborghini Huracan is awe-inspiring. With a max speed of 202 MPH, this car is crazy fast! But with that speed, it comes with a high price of around 200,000 dollars. But it is so worth it! Now for the details. The horsepower on this baby is 602 hp. Now that?s a high number! How fast can it go from 0-60? 2.3 seconds, that's right, 2.3 seconds! And the MPG is 14/21. Jared Gall said that the highs and lows for the car are that it makes you feel like you're time traveling, but the seats are small. And from pictures of the inside, I have to agree. But the inside of the car looks pretty good. The leather of the seats and steering wheel are perfectly sewn. But there is not much space, and it looks like it?s trying too hard to seem futuristic. Also, it only has two seats, which, if you have a family, would not work. But the outside of the car is amazing! The spoiler on this model looks outstanding! So, if you have the money, you should get the spoiler. Personally, I am a fan of cars that are low to the ground, which this car is. Also, the overall shape of the car is perfectly made. The design of the front and back has curves that are not big features, but they make the car look better. I think it is for the engine and the inside parts of the car, but I think it was designed to look that cool! Also, I love what they did with the logo. On the front is the official Lamborghini logo, but on the back, in silver, they have the word, Lamborghini. Like the way Porsches do. Also, at the bottom of the sides, there are the colors of the Italian flag. As you might know, Lamborghini is based in Italy. This car comes in all sorts of colors, but I think it looks best in white.

Review Now, I will give my personal review. This car ?s lowest rating is for its interior; it's trying too hard to be a race car but, in my opinion, it?s not. The car 's exterior, however, is amazing! It?s perfectly crafted, and small details like the logo are very important to me. Even though I do not consider it to be a race car, the speed and horsepower are outstanding! On a scale of 1-10, I?d give it an 8 out of 10. While the interior has some drawbacks, the rest of this car is great! Again, I believe that this car is awesome!

Ou r Beau t i f u l Pi n e Tr ees We have beautiful pine trees around campus. Some people don't realize this, but these trees have lots of history. Our Upper School newspaper, The Pine Needl e, is named after these trees. Our school song also mentions "the swaying pines" in its lyrics.

Wi l t on Hal l Most people think that this place is old. But how old is it? Did you know that Wilton Hall was built in 1926. At one time, Wilton Hall was St. Christopher's Lower School. After the modern-day Lower School was built, Wilton Hall became the Middle School. The two wings were added later.

Slathering the peanut butter on the segments of toast gives off an aroma that persuades me to pass out with delight. As I stroll to the table, my head swirls with the temptation of the delicious morsel. Once my teeth pierce the crunchy, hard outer crust, an outburst of flavor crushes my tongue. In between the slices of lightly toasted bread, the rich, silky peanut butter taste jolts against the minutely thin wedges of banana resulting in a explosion of zest.

B e a uf o r d Ma t h e ws '25 The greasy, crunchy skin, tender on my tongue, was a delight, savory and flavorful. I brought the juicy piece of fried chicken away from my lips, turned it, inhaled its cooked scent, and sunk my teeth into the juicy meat once again. The meat was paradise on my palate, better than anything I had ever tasted before, and an explosion of juices dribbled on my tongue. After I had finished the beautiful drumstick, I put the bone, now picked clean, onto my plate and reached my greasy fingers for yet another piece.

Ol iv e r Smit h '24 The homemade pesto emerged out of the blooming basil leaves outside, petals vibrant with life, giving out a euphoric aroma. The appetizing mixture of fused nuts with salt and sugar and blended with al-dente linguine, and after all of that, grated parmesan sprinkled on top is glorious. A delectable bowl of light and heaven sitting right there on your rough and chipped table. I twirl the pasta through the steel prongs of my fork and with great enthusiasm bite the mouth-watering concoction off the utensil. My mouth is instantly filled with savory sensations and my body lights up with happiness and content like a leaf in the middle of photosynthesis, receiving the nutrients that it needs from the blaring and glowing fiery ball of brightness.

Fo r d C l a r k '23 My mouth begins to tingle when I hear the words fall out of my mother ?s mouth. Pizza. Though hours away, I can feel the warm triangle of love in my hand, taunting my mouth. The time finally arrives. When I hear the doorbell ring, the anticipation is too much to bear. At last, I pick up the first slice. The sea of cheese sizzles and bubbles in my hand. The circular pepperoni looks like continents. I imagine little countries and villages. However, that does not stop me. Without warning, the pizza is swallowed by the black hole that is my mouth. Tough luck.

Middle School Survey Top 3 Books In The Library by Berkeley Edmunds and Bennett Long

Which book do you think is the most liked in the library? Well, we sent out a survey to find out. Our most popular book was Lockdown: Escape from the furnace. Here is a little summary of Lockdown: Escape from the furnace: A boy is framed for his best friend's murder and sent to an extreme version of juvie called "The Furnace." He is sent there, and the conditions are more than harsh. Then, people are being taken so he tries to find a way out with his cell mate, Donovan, and best friend, Zee. This place does not care if you die. This book took 20% of the ballot. Its runner-up was Variant with 17% of the ballot. In addition, Loot came in third with 14% of the ballot. We had 126 responses, and 8th grade responded the most. My pick was Lockdown: Escape from the furnace and Bennett?s was Variant. Thank you for submitting. We hope your favorite book placed high enough to be mentioned.

Berkeley & Bennet t : Our Top Three

The library holds many good books throughout its shelves, but here are some of our favorites. One of our favorites is Variant by Rob Wells. This book is full of action, suspense, and numerous plot twists. The story is mainly about an orphan boy named Benson Fisher who ends up going to a private school and starts to live a rich life. But, he quickly begins to gain suspicion about the school and does everything in his power to discover the hidden secrets of this school. Another one of our favorites is Projekt 1065 by Alan Gratz. This book is great for anyone who loves action, suspense and a good mystery. In this story, a boy named Michael lives with his family in Nazi Germany. But, his family is not the average family. His parents are spies said to be Irish diplomats in Germany. Like all of the teenage boys in Germany, Michael joined the Hitler Youth. On one of his scout hikes, he finds a British pilot who had crashed in the area, and his adventure beings with his efforts to hide and protect this pilot from the Germans. Lastly, one of our favorite series is the sports mystery series that starts with The Final Four by John Feinstein. This book is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery but also loves sports and action. In this book, two teenagers named Stevie Thomas and Susan Carol Anderson work as press during popular sports events. But during these events, they always end up somehow getting tangled up in a wild mystery that ends up making them go on outrages journeys and adventures at these events.

Library St at s: Top 3 books checked out

Have you ever wondered what books are the most checked out in our middle school library? Well with help from the Middle School catalog we found that out. We chose the range of September 1, 2016 to November 2018. We chose this range because we wanted to be able to see the number of books that have been checked out as well as to see results that all three of the current grades in the middle school would have taken part in. The most checked out book from this time range is The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan. In that time period, it has been checked out a total of 86 times. Also, during its entire time in the Middle School, it has had 169 total checkouts. The second most frequently checked out book is Click Here To Start by Denis Markwell. Over the course of our time range, it has been checked out 81 times. Lastly, the book that is in third place for most check outs in this time range is Variant by Robinson Wells. Over the course of this time range, it has been checked out 64 times, and it has also been checked out a total of 188 times during its time in the Middle School Library.

Getti ng to Know : M r. Blai r By Jay Munson What inspired you to become a teacher? I've always known I wanted to work with kids thanks to my experiences in school and at Camp Virginia. I was lucky enough to have some amazing teachers, coaches, and camp counselors that took the time to get to know me beyond just my name and how I did in class or on the field. Having people that genuinely cared about me helped me develop as a person and, as I got older, really made me want to be able to pass along the experiences I was able to have to others.

What do you like about St. Christopher 's so far? What I have liked the most about St. Christopher 's is the sense of community and welcome. I'm only in four classes, but thanks to subbing some last year, I feel like I know way more people than just the guys I see in the classroom every day. I enjoy showing up every morning and being greeted by guys I have in class and by those that I don't get to see in class. In a bigger school, that feeling is lost a little bit because you have 30 students per class and over a thousand in the building.

What was it like when you were in middle school? My Middle School experience was pretty similar to today except we did not have our own laptops and spikeball did not exist. We had to go to the computer lab if we needed a computer during study hall.

What do you like about teaching and what do you look forward to in your teaching career?

My favorite part of teaching is getting to know the guys in the classroom and doing what I can to help them be successful. Middle School helps grow the foundation for the skills, both academic and interpersonal, that you will use in Upper School, college, and beyond. I want to be able to help pass along some of those skills anyway that I can.

What are some interesting or fun facts about you?

I am the youngest of four siblings: two brothers and one sister (they all played soccer in college). I have two nephews: Gus (4) & Beau (1). Both my parents worked as teachers, with my dad about to retire as the Middle School Head of Collegiate -- the school down the road. I've spent at least part of twenty-three summers at camp between Camp Virginia and Camp River 's Bend.

It wasn?t until issue #299 that the Extraterrestrial Creature was pulled off of Spider Man and bonded with his main host, Eddie Brock, but Venom is not the only symbiote. A few of the other symbiotes are known as Carnage, Riot, Scream, Lasher, Toxin, and Mania. Only two of these symbiotes appeared in the movie. Riot appeared as the antagonist and Carnage appeared in the after credits scene.

Now let ?s t alk abou t t h e m ovie? . The movie followed a separate storyline in which a company known as the Life Foundation collects symbiotes from an asteroid. But in the beginning, something happens, and a symbiote escapes. In the new movie, Eddie gains the symbiote from a patient from the Life Foundation. I have to say, my favorite scene from the movie is the climactic battle scene between Venom and Riot in the end. Bi l ly Pi e Restau r an t Rev i ew By : Bol l i n g Poar ch Billy Pie is a new pizza restaurant located at the intersection of Patterson and Three Chopt. Customers are able to see the pizzas being made and put in the oven to cook. The pizza at Billy Pie is different from most pizza chains, because their menu features red, white, and one green pizza. They also have desserts, salads, and antipasti, which are like appetizers. The menu at Billy Pie has a lot of different types of pie which include pepperoni, margherita and naked pizzas. Something that is important for some people is that the atmosphere is very nice. They have table, booth, bar, and high table seatings, so you can choose which type you like. A very nice addition, which probably gets more use during the warmer months, is a joggling board outside the restaurant. You can sit outside, joggle, and socialize on the bench while you wait. Most important, the food is delicious. It's some of the best genuine pizza I have ever tasted. Billy Pie is one of my favorite spots to get pizza in Richmond, and I hope you consider giving it a try!

By Lu k e Pen dlebu r y The smell of freshly baked bread makes its way to you as soon as you open the doors to Proper Pie Company. You see all of the sweets and savories lined up behind the glass window, which now has the fog of your breath on it while you try to figure out which item to pick. When you finally figure out what you're going to get, you start second guessing yourself for something else. Sooner or later, half of what the store is selling crept it's way onto your plate.

The people who run Proper Pie Company are truly amazing. The cashier helped us gather our order by telling us which pies were his favorite and which one's he would pick. This saved me a great amount of time Ph ot o Cr edit : Rich m on d M agazin e instead of picking pies myself and running the risk of picking one of the lesser pies. The atmosphere of the place is also incredible. It isn't too fancy, nor is it too casual. It really makes you feel more like you are in a home instead of a restaurant.

The steak pie was delicious. It had potatoes, steak, and many other things in it which made it incredible. Another delicious pie was lamb pie. That had lamb, potatoes, and beans in it which combined to create greatness.

There were also great desserts here too. One of these desserts was the raspberry and chocolate pie. This had a creamy inside and a delicious crust. Once you took a bite, you wouldn't be able to stop eating it. Another great dessert is the blueberry apple pie. It fills your mouth up with its flavor as soon as you put it into your mouth.

17 Year s o f Fo o t b al l St o r y by C ar so n B r ow n Page D esi gn by D o u gi e B o ar d m an

Tom Brady is a football legend. He has won five Super Bowls throughout his 17-year career. Tom Brady went to the University of Michigan and played football for them. Brady has been involved with football for most of his life, and he is looking to play longer than any other quarterback. Tom Brady has been an elite ever since. At this rate, Brady believes that he can go another seven years. Tom Brady has not been really slowing down when he has been playing. I don't understand why he chose to continue his career for this long. Does he think that he is not going to get hurt before he wants to retire? He has already suffered multiple injuries in his career. Those injuries could always come back. Maybe Brady has faith in his good health because he has taken such good care of himself throughout his life.

All I know is that the Patriots are not going to be the Super Bowl champions this year. I expect either the Chiefs or the Rams to win. My prediction is that Brady will get hurt in the next two years. Just think about it. Tom Brady is 40; he has old bones. One of his ankles could snap if a

The owner could have questioned Brady?s decision to play seven more years. Why didn't he do anything? I don't know why the owner of the Patriot?s thinks getting older means that players are also getting better. In my opinion, the owner thinks that Tom Brady can lead the Patriots to more Super Bowls during the next seven years.

player ?s body landed on it. My overall opinion is that he should not play for seven more years. He has been great for the past 17 years, and he needs to let that glory go.

ERIC's To p Thr ee GOALKEEPER GLOVES My name is Eric Brown and I've played soccer for the past six years. During that time, I've tried a number of different goalkeeper gloves. The three listed below are my top recommendations.

1. Uhlspor t

Ar eoed Super gr ip Ref lex

Uhlsport Areoed Supergrip Reflex goalie gloves are $241.00 US dollars. These gloves are of the highest quality with flexible latex and high grip elements. The supergrip also has new innovative uhlsport SUPERGRIP foam in fluo red that provides a higher grip level thanks to integrated ?high grip elements." The supergrip also has a material mix of latex and neoprene for the best flexibility and wearing comfort. There are more features to this glove, but these are the ones that stood out to me. One keeper that wears this glove in Tinja-Riikka Korpela who plays for the FC Bayern Munich Women's team.

2. Reusch Pr ism a Pr o G3 Fusion ; ev olut ion or t ho-t ec lt d Next we the Reusch Prisma Pro g3 Fusion; evolution ortho-tec ltd. The Prisma pro g3 fusion costs $169.99 USD. This glove is good because it has the G3 fusion palm. The G3 fusion palm is good because it has aqua Latex with hydrograin technology for the best grip in rainy weather. It has solid latex which increases the foam durability, and it has a G3 ultra soft latex with a special adhesive that creates good grip properties. Another thing that makes the Prism Pro G3 fusion is the ortho-tec. Ortho-tec is a removable fingersave. This is good because if you don't like fingersave you can take it out, and if you do like fingersave you can keep it in. One goalkeeper that wears these gloves is Alex Meret who plays in the Italian Series A in Italy.

3. Sells Clim at e Gu ar d Sells elite climate guard. The Sells elite climate guard is $199.35 USD. The elite climate guard is good because it has an Adhesion Ultra Absolute latex palm that provides a superb grip while the laminated 5mm memory foam backer provides confident handling and shot-stopping impact absorption. The backhand is covered by embossed latex which is shaped to move naturally with your hands. It has a guard Superflex for finger protection. There are more features with this glove, but these are the features that stand out to me.

2018 Heisman Candidates By: Capt ain Wor r ell & Liam Wr igh t The Heisman Trophy is the most prestigious award in college football. It is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football whose performance exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners are an excellent example of great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The trophy is usually awarded to a running back or quarterback. It is very rare that the award is presented to a player of another position. The award is given out mid-December before the post season games. This year 's Heisman race was closer than ever.

#1 Kyler M u r r ay Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy this year. He led the NCAA in completion percentage with 70.6%. Although Murray?s strong spot is passing, he is by far one of the best scrambling quarterbacks this season. During this season, Murray has run for 11 touchdowns and nearly 900 yards. Kyler has led the Oklahoma Sooners to a 11-1 record and 6 on the College Football Playoff Poll. Also, the Sooners are first in the Big 12 conference. As you can see, Kyler Murray is one of the best players in the NCAA. Kevin C. Cox/ Getty

#2 Tu a Tagovailoa Tua Tagovailoa was our first pick for Heisman Trophy Winner. In our eyes, he is easily the best player in college football. His stats on paper jump out to you immediately. This year, he has the best touchdown/interception ratio in college football. Also, he has the second best QB rating with 95.9%. During this season, Tua has lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a perfect 12-0 record and an 8-0 conference record in the hardest conference in football. Atop all of that, he has lead Alabama to a number one ranking in every poll and an automatic spot in the College Football Playoff. This is why we see Tua Tagovailoa as the best player in college Sue Ogrocki/Associated Press

football.

#3 Dw ayn e Hask in s Dwayne Haskins is an outstanding quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. This year, Dwayne led the NCAA in touchdowns with 42. Also, he was second in passing yards with 4,081. During this season, Dwayne helped Ohio State toward a 11-1 record and first in the Big Ten. Atop that, he has led Ohio State to be 5 on the College Football Playoff Poll. Dwayne Haskins easily presented himself as a top candidate for this year 's Heisman Trophy.

#4 Will Gr ier

Sam Santilli

Will Grier is an elite quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers. During this season, he carried the Mountaineers to an 8-3 record against some very hard teams such as Oklahoma and Texas along with a sixteenth ranking in the latest college football playoff poll. Grier also led West Virginia in touchdowns with 37 and yards with 3,864. Will Grier led West Virginia?s high flying and powerful offense this year. If you watched a West Virginia game this year you probably noticed that they rarely scored below 35 points. This was due to Grier ?s leadership and skills. This is why Will Grier is one of the best players in college football.

#5 Gar dn er M in sh ew Gardner Minshew is a tremendous quarterback for Washington State. This year, he had the most passing yards in the NCAA with 4,477 yards. During this season, Gardner Minshew has a 70.6% completion percentage which is tied for the best. He led the Washington State Cougars to a 10-2 record and the second best team in the Pac 12. Also, they achieved the 13 ranking in the College Football Playoff Poll. This is why Gardner Minshew was a solid Heisman candidate. https://theathletic.com/666107/2018/11/20/gardner-minshew-nfldraft-prospect-washington-state/

The Adidas Ul t r aboost By Gar dn er Kau f m an Th e Adidas Ul t r a b o o s t

The Adidas Ultraboost started with a foam cushioning called the boost. This was Adidas's big play. They could outrun Nike or flunk it. Badische Anilin & Soda-Fabrik (BASF) was the company that created the foam and put it under the insert. The Ultraboost really broke out when Kanye West wore them. In fact, Adidas sold out of Ultraboost after West's endorsement. -

Video Game Review By Cade Pet r u s an d Ran dolph Tr ow

Picture it, you?ve just been sent on a construction mission for the space government called Altera. You are sent on a ship called the Aurora and are heading to construct a new faze gate to stretch Altera's influence to the edges of the known galaxy. You are sent to build it on an uncharted planet called 4546B, but something goes wrong.

Something or someone has shot you down and the Aurora is plunging toward the planet. The crew members that are still left alive scramble to get into the lifepods, and they eject one by one from the domed vessel. You are lucky enough to get a lifepod and are hurtling towards the surface of the planet.

A panel comes loose and hits you, and you fall unconscious. When you wake up, you get out of the lifepod, and the biggest body of water you have ever seen stretches across the surface of this alien planet. You survive by using the alien resources to make different electronics; you find that the caves go down a little deeper than you once thought. You go down one of the holes and find out the reason you were shot down as well as the reason that this planet is still uncharted. As you discover the clues of who came before you, you also discover that existing underwater inhabitants are not pleased to have intruders on their planet. Along with curing the strange disease you caught while landing on the planet, you also have to think about your escape plan, build a rocket, and leave the planet.

Review by Ryan Reece

Over view Uncharted 4 is set in the modern day world and starts off with a flashback from when Nathan Drake (the main character) is in an orphanage. His mom and dad both died at a young age and his only company is his brother, Sam Drake. Nathan and Sam escaped the orphanage and went on to search for Captain Henry Avery's hidden treasure from the 17th century. If you were wondering why the last name Drake sounds familiar, Nathan and Sam decided to make their own last name Drake after the famous English explorer and privateer, Captain Sir Francis Drake. Sir Francis Drake's motto was "Sic Parvis Magna" which you will see referenced throughout the game. It means "so great and so small."

Gam eplay Gameplay is an important aspect of any game. Uncharted 4 is a third person shooter/exploring game. Everything the Drake brothers discover is real, such as the pirate haven of Libertalia, El Dorado, etc. The gameplay of this game is absolutely breathtaking, and I can say that because I have played through the entire game (including some of the other games in the series). The story is definitely the game?s strong point. The multiplayer is very bland and gets boring after a while. For me, it was truly amazing getting to see all of these discoveries and the villains are absolutely amazing. They are quirky, funny, sarcastic, and most of all just pure evil.

S CY T HE Book Review by Richmond Southall Scythe by Neal Shusterman is a very eventful book. As you're reading, it gives you very few clues as to which dramatic events will happen next. Scythe is based on a future version of Earth where a computer has taken consciousness and solved all of the world?s problems; hunger, homelessness, war, etc. The only problem is overpopulation. That is a problem because the Thundercloud (conscious computer) cannot harm any people, so eventually, there will be too many people for the earth to occupy. Because of this, the Scythedom was founded. The Scythedom is a separate government whose sole purpose is to slow the overpopulation of Earth. Citra and Rowan are two normal kids who have been chosen to become Scythes. Scythes "glean" (kil) people through random selection to stop the earth from overpopulating, but a lot more happens then what you would expect

Sythe is also a 2017 Book Award Winner. It was recognized by the American Library Association as one of only four "2017 Printz Honor Books." The Printz Award is given to the best Young Adult novel each each year.

Sequel to Scythe

Rev iew By Noah Lee Michael Vey is filled with action and mystery. Read the Michael Vey series for a ride of shocks and thrills. When I first heard about Michael Vey, I did not think I would like it, but after I read the first ten pages I couldn't stop. The books are full of great content and excitement. While I started this series thinking that I wouldn?t care about it at all, it has turned out to be one of my favorite series ever (right behind Gregor the Overlander, Percy Jackson and The Kane Chronicles series -- you should try them too!) These books are all written in a way to make you keep reading. If you like cliffhangers and plot twists, read this fantastic book series for yourself. I hope you like it.
