Can My Health Plan Move with Me?
When you are planning a move, the last thing on your mind is your health insurance. But it is imperative that you consult with an experienced insurance professional as soon as possible to avoid a gap in coverage.
INDIVIDUAL PLANS
The individual insurance market is regulated on a state-by-state basis, with prices being set on a county-by-county basis. In Minnesota, our state-run exchange is called MNsure. You have new plan options, prices, network providers and possible savings thru MNsure. Our agents and other certified MNsure navigators and brokers can help you decipher the details and help you make an informed decision in a timely manner.
MEDICARE PLANS
Many Medicare plans also have networks that are region specific. If you move outside of your plan’s service area, you are allowed to make a change within a specific time period. It’s always a good idea to contact your plan before you move to ensure the transition happens in a timely manner.
Welcome to your new home and community! Please let me know if we can be of assistance.

Are We Really What We Eat?
You are what you eat is a phrase you’ve heard many times, but is it true?
As a matter of fact, it certainly is!
Take sugar, for example. Eating sugar doesn’t make you sweet…it can make you sick….all over! This one ingredient can affect your digestion, your energy, your weight, and even your mental health.
Nutrients, like sugar, are processed and absorbed throughout the digestive system (the gut) and distributed to the rest of your body. The gut is home to trillions of microorganisms that help digest your food, make vitamins, and create important chemical transmitters for all of your bodily functions including mood and memory. This an intricate powerhouse orchestra that can literally make or break your health.
With 70 percent of the immune system housed in the gut, it is extremely important to keep it healthy to fight off against foreign and internal invaders. In addition, up to 95 percent of some neurotransmitters – substances that can affect everything from mood and memory to bone degeneration – also are formed or reside in the gut.
Nutritional Services and support you need to succeed
Research shows that our gut health is central to our well being and should be our first priority in getting healthy. And, as mentioned above, our daily choices directly affect it.
Improve your health through methods that fit your personal lifestyle and goals
But not all foods are healthy for everyone. For example, milk can be tolerated by some but not by others. Gluten containing foods are known culprits to cause disease. What you choose to consume is in your control. How do you know if what you are consuming is good for YOU?
• Feel more energy and less pain during your daily activities
Understand how to fuelyour bodywith the proper nutrition it needs
Assess and fix your digestive issues for better gut health
Detoxify and learn about supplements that will encourage your body to heal
If you are concerned about what you are consuming and want to know if it is right for your body, talk with a natural health professional trained in nutrition. They can help you decide if an intentional eating plan or food sensitivity testing might be right for you. The more you know, the better you’ll be.

Fitness is Different for Everyone
Many people are confused and frustrated because they don’t know what they should do, or how they should move forward with their health. Unfortunately, there isn’t a right way and a wrong way. Weight, fitness level, health, age, lifestyle, and personality make each of us unique, making fitness look completely different for each person.
Experts agree that you must exercise in some way to be healthier. It could be a walk outside, an ultra-marathon, a team sport, or formal strength training. The point is that you must do something to move your body!
Consistent exercise helps with stress reduction, disease prevention, bone density, better sleep, injury correction, mental clarity, increased energy and more. But how can we have a consistent fitness routine into our busy lives?
How to Begin Making Exercise a Priority:
1.What activities do you enjoy that work with your personality? If you are an extrovert, consider exercise that involves interaction with others. This could be a team sport, group fitness classes, or an exercise buddy. If you are an introvert, consider individual exercises like biking, virtual fitness, or one on one personal training.
2.Find a support system. You are more likely to stay consistent with exercise if you have a system that will keep you accountable. Verbalize your goals, make a pact with a friend, enter a fitness contest or race, or hire a personal trainer.
3.Learn the basics. I would recommend learning how many times you should exercise weekly, what type of exercise will help you reach your goal, and basic form for fitness so you don’t get hurt. This may require watching a couple podcasts or hiring a trainer for a few appointments. It’s a small investment for the long-term benefit.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to be perfect. Fitness is different for everyone, but we all get busy and routines fall off. Simply own it, learn from it, and get back to it so you can enjoy a longer, healthier life.

JULIA KRENGEL PERSONAL TRAINER & OWNERLive WELL Be WELL Stay WELL
We
Istarted my career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural healthcare setting doing full spectrum family practice, emergency room, and in-patient hospitalization. It was a fantastic experience, but I quickly noticed what felt like a conflict of consciousness, especially in the family practice setting. Patients weren’t having access to me as their Provider, care was fragmented, and care was often driven by the patient’s financial abilities or whether or not they could afford primary care.
What instantly appealed to me is that members would have access to Providers and nursing staff as often as needed and still only pay the flat monthly fee. WELL & Company, my practice, was born based on providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare in a primary care and urgent care setting.
teamWith that being said, I started a personal search on how we could better deliver high-quality healthcare PLUS cost-effectiveness for both parties and ultimately bring primary back to prevention. In my search I discovered Direct Primary Care. DPC is described as “the new ‘old’ way of medicine,” resulting in more intimate care between patients and their Providers,
Our communities have been so responsive to this business model, and we currently provide care to individuals, families, local businesses, and their employees. WELL & Company has sub-specialties in integrative health including weight loss and hormone management.

What is Life Coaching?
Life coaching emerged during the 1980s and continues to grow in popularity, yet is not fully understood by the general population.
Coaching is often confused with therapy, and while both are geared toward life improvement, the disciplines are quite different. Therapists are licensed to treat mental health conditions and to heal trauma and unresolved issues from the past.
Coaching, on the other hand, is more futureoriented in that it helps individuals find the path from where they currently are to where they want to be in life. A coach will use insightful questioning to help individuals clarify their goals, identify all the options available, and create a plan as to how to accomplish those goals. Working with a coach also offers fresh perspectives on challenges and helps identify blocks that prevent clients from attaining their goals.
Another difference between coaching and other development professionals is that the client determines the goals and action steps and the coach draws out the strengths of clients to achieve those goals. This makes the client the true owners of the accomplishments and growth that occurs.
WHY WORK WITH A LIFE COACH?
People will seek out a life coach when they want to find their purpose or accomplish a high-level goal, such as starting their own business or writing a book. People will also hire a coach to help with a life transition such as changing careers or getting ready for retirement. And some will use the services of a coach when they want their life to be better now, for example, changing their mindset, etc.
While there are general life coaches, many coaches have a specific niche such as health and wellness, financial, relationship, business, spiritual, and more.
No matter your focus, working with a life coach offers accountability and the space to work on yourself. Dedicating time to working with a life coach greatly increases the chances of you achieving your goals more quickly and efficiently than working alone. Life coaching can be an effective way to help you be the person you want to become.

SUPPLEMENTS AND THEIR EFFICIENCY
Because functional medicine practitioners are committed to providing you the best care possible, they recommend professional supplements that are pharmaceutical grade supplements. Your doctor has many tools at their disposal, and they have opted to use nutraceuticals to support your journey to health.
Nutraceuticals are products that combine specific doses of naturally occurring ingredients and can be used in combination with other treatment modalities. If a product combines the correct dose with the best ingredients, you should expect it to help you get better faster than products that do not possess these two components. Reputable supplement companies are committed to developing evidence-based formulas with an uncompromising commitment to superior raw ingredients.
THERAPEUTIC DOSING
The amount – or dose – of an ingredient is just as vital as the ingredient itself. If a product does not provide enough of the raw ingredient, it does not contain what is termed a “therapeutic amount.” It may be the right ingredient, but it won’t be enough to make a difference.
On the other hand, too much of an ingredient could make the product more expensive with no additional health benefits. Committed supplement companies develop and manufacture their own products, which offers a greater quality control and formulation based on the most current research.
SUPERIOR RAW INGREDIENTS
Along with the correct formula, the raw ingredient used is equally important. There are many variables that separate superior raw ingredients form those that are just satisfactory. Some of these factors could include the portion of the plant that is used, the technique used in the manufacturing process, and the storage of raw materials or the form in which it is used.
Additional care should be taken to ensure the raw ingredients used in the final product have had rigorous testing to confirm that the ingredients are free of pathogen, heavy metals, economic adulterants and that the product contains the actual ingredients and amounts that are on the label. Reputable supplement companies are and will always be committed to using only superior ingredients when manufacturing their products.

Mental Health Resources in Central Minnesota
The subject of mental health has dominated discussions in our culture recently. While there is still much work that needs to be done, huge strides have been made.
The deep stigma once attached to mental health has softened. Schools are teaching our children not just the technical aspects of mental health, but also providing them with tools to manage their own mental health. Many schools even administer assessments throughout the year in an effort to identify children who may be struggling. In addition, many companies have established wellness programs for their staff and some even provide counseling appointments at the company’s expense.
Perhaps the biggest challenge facing those in need of assistance with their mental health is access. An average time to wait for a counseling appointment is about a month. We would never accept having to wait a month for an appointment if we were feeling physically ill, yet we willfully accept it when it comes to our mental health.
Several organizations in Central Minnesota have launched programs in recent years to address this issue. The Beautiful Mind Project has two programs designed to increase access to mental health. One program offers Urgent Care for Mental Health where an individual can receive a counseling appointment within 24 hours. The other program offers completely cost-free counseling to those who need it. These programs address two of the major barriers – time and money – to receiving mental health treatment.
Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) provides unique programming that helps those with a more serious mental health issue integrate themselves into the community. They work with them on finding them stable housing and employment and creating a positive support system in their lives.
The programs described above put Central Minnesota residents in the enviable position of having some of the most creative programming solutions to mental health in the entire state. It will take continued support from the community and outside the box ideas for us to fully give mental health treatment options our loved ones deserve.

Ambulatory Surgical Center or Hospital:
Choosing between an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASCs) or a Hospital setting for your surgery first depends on the type of surgery you are having. ASCs only perform outpatient surgeries, while surgeries requiring an inpatient stay are typically performed at a hospital. Today, surgical advancements have made it possible for many procedures to be successfully performed on an outpatients basis at an ASC.
What is an Ambulatory Surgical Center?
ASCs are modern-day healthcare facilities that have a primary focus on providing same-day surgical care. In the last 30 years, the roles and overall number of ASCs in the nation have increased dramatically. ASCs have transformed the outpatient experience by providing a convenient alternative to traditional hospital-based outpatient practices with a strong track record of quality care and positive patient outcomes.
What is the difference between an Ambulatory Surgical Center and a Hospital?
Many of the workflows and procedures performed at both institutions will be the same, and both share a common goal of providing the highest quality of care. Many of the differences between the two are seen in the background operations.
Traditionally, a hospital-based outpatient department, or HOPD, is owned and attached to a hospital, whereas an ASC is a standalone practice with or without hospital affiliation. This separation makes the regulations for ASCs and HOPDs different. Most of the time, patients see these differences reflected in the cost.
What is the cost of going to an Ambulatory Surgical Center?
Choosing an ASC for your procedure will be more cost-effective than visiting a traditional hospital setting. The same procedure performed at both is reported to cost Medicare 47% less at an ASC than an HOPD*.
What are the advantages of an Ambulatory Surgical Center?
ASCs have been shown to have greater efficiency with no differences or higher complication rates when compared to the traditional hospital setting. The narrow scope and training allows for more specialized care and many times higher rates of positive outcomers and faster recovery.
*Procedure cost will vary from person to person, depending on current medical coverage.

Healthy Habits Build Strong Teeth
Life-long brushing habits start in the home!
Establishing a positive oral care routine prevents decay and helps your child more easily accept help with brushing once the first tooth appears. Be persistent. With young children, it is important to supervise and teach them the proper way to brush. Brushing twice a day keeps the sugar bugs away!
Routine visits to your closest Dentistry for Children location every six months is an important piece of your child’s overall health. During your child’s regular dental exam, we will check for any issues in the mouth, including cavities, tooth decay or damage, and gum disease. After the exam, we’ll clean, polish, and rinse the teeth for a sparkling smile!
Good snack foods offer more than great thoughts! Whole, natural foods—filled with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals — not only help your children grow smart, strong, tall, and beautiful, they support healthy teeth and gums too. Encouraging your kids to choose the good stuff will prevent cavities and unwanted dental trips for expensive fillings.
