ST. CHRISTOPHER’S

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS BY THE NUMBERS • St. Christopher’s has graduated 746 students or an average of 74 students per class over the last ten years. During this time, our students have been admitted to 246 colleges and universities in 40 states and 6 foreign countries. • The Advanced Placement Program recognizes students as AP Scholars when they take three or more AP exams and score at a certain level. 40% of St. Christopher’s students have received this designation over the past five years, roughly 2 times the national rate of 20%. • During the past ten years, 113 St. Christopher’s students have been recognized by the National Merit, National Hispanic and National Achievement Scholarship Competitions as Semifinalists or Commended Students. • More than 20% of St. Christopher’s graduates have been admitted to U.Va. over the past ten years. • 150 St. Christopher’s graduates have gone on to play a sport in college over the past ten years, representing about 20% of each graduating class. • 80-90% of St. Christopher’s seniors annually graduate having taken one or more Advanced Placement exam. • During the past ten years, 40% of St. Christopher’s students taking AP exams have earned at least one score of 5, and 65% have earned at least one score of 4 or 5. • During the past five years, more than half of St. Christopher’s graduates have completed at least one year of AP Calculus. • In 2011 the Richmond Times-Dispatch conducted the first study of admissions to the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary for every high school in Virginia. St. Christopher’s ranked in the top 25 schools statewide (and top three in Central Virginia) at both colleges, with all but one other school being public high schools with 500 graduates. Academic Dean Jim Jump was interviewed along with the Deans of Admissions from U.Va. and William and Mary for an accompanying article. • Over 100 colleges annually come to St. Christopher’s in the fall to recruit and interview our students at various grade levels. • St. Christopher’s is the only area school to produce both a Richmond Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a Lexus Pursuit of Perfection Scholarship winner in the past two years. • Two members of the Class of 2016 were invited to participate in the U.S. Presidential Scholars program, and one was among the fewer than 700 students nationwide named as a Semifinalist.
