ST DUNSTAN’S 2021
YOUR GENEROSITY WILL HELP DEFINE OUR FUTURE...
I
hope that your years spent associated with St Dunstan’s College proved some of the most significant and formative of your life, or the life of your children; a time that played a fundamental role in shaping success in adulthood.
We know that everything the College has achieved since its foundation in 1888 would simply not have been possible without the generosity and far-sightedness of the many past generations of Dunstonians who bequeathed money to the College. Today I am in turn asking you to consider helping future generations of St Dunstan’s pupils to continue enjoying the ambitious and forward-thinking education our Founders had in mind when they established their school in Catford. Many of our buildings are beautiful, but need updating and reinvigorating. 130 years on, a 21st Century education unsurprisingly needs the support of new facilities too. It is perhaps a hallmark of St Dunstan’s that we are able to marry unapologetically the best of our rich heritage with a contemporary outlook, and we want this to be mirrored by the buildings in which our pupils learn. I do hope that you will be inspired by all that you read in this brochure and feel compelled to support us in whatever way you can; our past was built on generosity and our future will be, likewise. With sincere thanks
Mr N P Hewlett Headmaster

T
he Stanstead Road site is currently undergoing its most significant redevelopment since our Foundation in 1888. Fully funded, through a combination of reserves and borrowing, and due for completion in April 2021, we are transforming the West side of the College, building an architecturally stunning new Junior School, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) block, and Sixth Form Centre.

ST DUNSTAN’S 2021 FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS

here are three projects which we would love to complete by September 2021, whilst we still have contractors on site. If we can fundraise sufficient money to deliver these projects, it would prove significantly less disruptive to the pupils and far more cost effective.
PROJECT 1 –The Performing Arts Centre (PAC)
1
Built on the footprint of the old Design and Technology workshops and Science Block, we have plans to build a fabulous new theatre, music practice rooms, recital room and rehearsal studios. Cost – £1m
PROJECT 2 – ‘The Plaza’
2
We would like to landscape the centre of our College into a captivating outdoor hub, where a parade square for the CCF doubles up as a performance venue, with recreational seating positioned within trees and gardens, and where a bandstand and outdoor theatre supports our Performing Arts Department and annual Summer Festival. Cost – £1m
PROJECT 3 –The Sport and Leisure Centre
3
Our Stanstead Road site needs expanding and enhancing. The designs see the relocation of Fives into the heart of this building and dramatically improve the changing facilities and classrooms. Cost – £2m

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT
THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING A GIFT
T
he College is registered as a Charity under number 312747 and every contribution is meaningful, regardless of the amount. All donations will be used by St Dunstan’s to realise its charitable purpose. You can give in a number of ways, either by making a single donation, or by considering a regular donation. You may also wish to consider leaving a gift in your Will, as a legacy.
MAKING A DONATION SINGLE DONATION
If you would like to make a single donation, you can do so by completion and return of the detachable form on page 15 of this brochure. Contributions can be made by cheque, electronic transfer or by debit or credit card. It is possible to stipulate the project for which you would like your contribution to benefit.
REGULAR DONATION
EMPLOYEE MATCH FUNDING
Many organisations offer match funding as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. Some may match the amount you donate at an equal value and some may stipulate a value and a maximum amount. Why not ask your employer if they run a Match Funding Scheme?
MAKING A LEGACY Some members of our wider community are at the stage in life when they begin to consider what their final legacy will be. Once family and friends are appropriately remembered, thoughts often turn to charities and institutions which figure prominently in a person’s life. Pledging a legacy provides you with the chance to make a charitable gift in your Will which has no cost to you during your lifetime.
Number Giving Duration Benefit to the College of donors (including gift aid) 50 £20.21 monthly 2 years £37,315 100 £2,021 annually 2 years £505,250
There are three main types of gifts you can make in your will: • Pecuniary gift is a straightforward way of giving a specified amount of money to St Dunstan’s College. • Specific non-monetary gift allows you to leave particular items or assets to the College, such as property, jewellery, works of art or other valuable items. • Residuary gift enables you to give to St Dunstan’s whatever remains of your estate after providing for your family and after meeting all debts and liabilities.
You can set up a direct debit by completion and return of the detachable form on page 17 of this brochure.
We would recommend you contact a solicitor either to draft your Will or to draft a Codicil to an existing Will.
If you would like to donate regularly, your contribution, added to others, makes a significant difference to the College. It also provides regular income that enables us to plan ahead and use your donations most efficiently. As a way of example, please find below a projection of what regular gifts can mean when considered together:

Acknowledging your gift All gifts, large or small, are precious and will make a difference. Although we understand that you might like to remain anonymous, we would also like wherever possible to recognise your donation in a lasting way - from naming a seat in the Performing Arts Centre, to naming a new science lab in the STEM building, possibilities are endless and affordable for all.
