Interests
- Armed Forces - University Royal Naval Unit (RNR) Through learning leadership skills and professional team work, I have gained the sort of discipline that the UK military provides to its teams. Adventure training, at-sea deployments and competitive sport all form part of the extensive training I have taken advantage of, much of which can be positively applied to civilian and specialist professional life. - Adventurer During spare time, I have undergone several expeditions, from 4 weeks trekking in Peru to a 7 month tour over 5 continents. My interest extends beyond the simple pleasures of travelling, and into the joys of experience gained from personal challenge. I have learnt to appreciate my observations of different cultures and surroundings, and have been enlightened as to how space can provoke our senses and influence our emotions. Such interests and experiences have influenced my work and led me to focus key themes within my design projects and essays on the relationship between spatiality, behaviour and proxemics. - Architecture My architectural interest is in design details. Using unit briefs I have explored how we can use devices like alignment, perspective and illusion to capture those small ‘magic’ moments of detail experienced, by the user, at significant points within the build. With a sustainable, holistic approach my design work delves into the relationship between site and new architectural interventions in order to produce a contemporary style rich in textures, patterns and layers.
