I used to flee.
I used to flee every time we were called in for a meeting with our client or every time Saatchi was called to bid for the 8xmille, I always made up an excuse. It got to the point where there was no way I could pull back as I happened to be the creative director. So I begun participating and winning the bids. It didn’t take them much to understand that bidding every year was a huge mistake, so they eventually passed all of the communication strategy and supervision for the catholic church over to us.
It all drastically changed when for the first time ever
I was part of a crew who filmed through out Italy and then Burkina Faso, where we found ourselves dealing with a number of logistic and production problems. We couldn’t find a professional profile who had the skills and the capability of filming in drastic circumstances a number of commercials that didn’t look like documentaries or glossy videos with actors and extras. We needed to tell the truth

like it had never been told before. I was very intrigued and fascinated by this. When I came back I told Luca Albanese my co worker that nothing would ever be the same. The time had come for me to leave my honours and obligations in Saatchi & Saatchi in the creative direction department and devote myself to this project. I look back in amazement and realise that it has lasted a lifetime. Not only have I travelled far and wide around Italy and the world but the direction I have often chosen, was depth. Every trip, every single story, campaign, commercial, and documentary has been a vertical dive. Dives which I’ve very often come out breathless but have given us countless emotions, encounters and acquaintances. From a creative point of view my most interesting jobs for the Catholic Church have definitely been the commercials, the docu films and web projects. In these past few years bill posters have gained importance and weight in the development of a campaign so I came up with the idea of collecting them and turning it into a book together with some “antique” pieces which hold the credit of having opened this path to all that followed. Cluttered though tidily scattered.
