this project is an introduction of the drawing convention. it is about looking a building in different views. strength i began to understand different between plan and section. weakness i did not know the exact dimensions of the building. so it is hard to get the one i wanted. opportunity i could add the captions and dimensions in the drawing.

sketchup array tools-trellis
this project is about using the array tools which can help us saving time in repitative objects. strength it is easy to edit all the components at the same time. weaknesses it is hard to color them in different color. opportunity i can create more complex repitative structure by using array tools. risks groups and components make confused.

this project is about using array tools to create pattern. strength it gives an easy way to create pattern that we like when we could not find that in materials. weakness it is easy to stuck two layers. opportunity i would use the patterns in my project. risk the group and layer could be complex.

this is a team project which is an introduction for the individual tiny house project. there is a limitation for floor plan which is 160 square feet. it is really tiny. strength one of the stength is using the second floor to create more living space. and we also learned to work in group project.
group project plan

weakness different people with different opinions, it was hard to dicide the plan. opportunity i would think about lighting system in future project. risk it is not easy to work in group project.

individual tiny house project i changed the group plan but i still kept the retangular shape plan. however, i gave up with steep roof because i want enough space for the second floor to walk around.
thinking about the light, i inserted the skylight above the bedroom. to avoid the direct sunlight from north, there is a solar panel as a sunshading board. 14 22

strength making a lot of mistakes allows me to get used to sketchup. weakness roofing is much more diffucult than i thought.

opportunity i would organize better in groups to find the one i need easily. risk if i had not used grouping, the wholde stugg would have stuck together.

sketchup original tool comb comb is a daily used tool. it is used not only at home, also for carrying it out for work or others especially for who has long hair. however, for those who does not always carry a bag or who feel the handle takes a lot space in bag, they would like to have a pocket size portable comb which is convient and pretty useful.
28
improved tool design portable comb
this is an improved design, portable comb. the handle is ajustbale which can be closed and opened. there is a magnetic lock to lock the handle to stop moving. it is designed as a pocket size that you can carry it around in your bag or in pockets. plus, it does not take a lot of space. you can also put it in wallet knowing how small it is.
the process showing how the portable comb works.

sketchup existing building this is a group project. we are grouped by choosing which one we would like to do. the building that i chose is mit chapel. mit Chapel was designed by noted architect eero saarinen and dedicated in 1955. it is located on the campus of massachusetts institute of technology in cambridge, massachusetts. the chapel is next to Kresge Auditorium and Kresge Oval which were design by eero saarinen as well. the most famous thing of this chapel is the lighting system. water in the pond is to reflect sunlight through the arch at the bottom of the double exterior walls. there is another light path as well which is on the ceiling reflected by the sparkling metals.
32
sketching can help us to draw in sketchup better and easier.
by using the existing plan, we can sketchup easier and faster when we know the scale of the building.

improved design in this project, we are required to improve the existing building individually. there are some issues with the chapel. first of all, water does not flow in the pond so it is easy for mosquitoes reproduced. second of all, water is drawn out in winter as it freezes and in order to maintain the building structure. plus, we don’t get the sun reflection at all in winter. lastly, we should use the roof space in order to enjoy the surrounding geometry.
38
coming up with some ideas by sketching. the very first idea for improving the MIT chapel is to add the stair case to climb up the building. then the second one is to change the shape of the structure. the rightest one is the final iteration of the shape of the improved design. at the end, the improved design is the combination of the different ideas.

strength a symmetric structure is a lot easier to sketchup. by doing this project, i learned with coming with an idea and there is nothing right or wrong. weakness hard to draw in details. opportunity one of the opportunity for me is to include the site plan to show what the environment lools like. the other one is to add the stair to basement. risk working in the group could be the scale difference with the modal.
