Drop owes its clear identity to the Bakelite ball, used as the core material and component for all the products in its collection, with an impeccable technical quality (shine & durability), in a wide range of up-lifting colours (blue, yellow, purple, orange, red and pink). The Drop jewelry collection plays on the beauty of the surface of the bakelite beads, which is reduced to its purest form of the jewel. Drop stands also for “Geometric Balls”. Simple geometric shapes aligns simplicity and modernity in its contemporary suggestions: Line, Triangle, Rectangle and cercle. Drop constellation is a world of creation guise to the client. The necklace is designed in 2 parts, the head and the drops that consist geometric shapes creativity. Research 7
BAKERITE BALL Bakelite or polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride, is a plastic made from synthetic components. It is a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin, formed from a condensation reaction of phenol with formaldehyde. Bakelite was used for its electrical nonconductivity and heat-resistant properties in electrical insulators, radio and telephone casings, and such diverse products as kitchenware, jewelry, pipe stems, children’s toys, and firearms. It was developed by Belgian-born chemist Leo Baekeland in New York in 1907.
