THESIS STATEMENT This site aims to further challenge this common perception of what health and well-being should be by focusing not just on physical health, but emotional and social as well. In today’s over-stimulated society, people need a place to retreat and recover. This starts by designing healthier buildings that address the five senses, and then taking a step further in offering services to enhance one’s relaxed state such as massage therapy, yoga classes, wine tastings, etc. Not everyone reacts to the same kind of treatment, and by incorporating both wellness and wine in the same environment, the building can address more people. This also will make the building more of a destination location, bringing in more tourists to the area, which will be key in ensuring the prosperity of the site.

CONCEPT STATEMENT Just as water represents what used to attract life to Old Sweet Springs, now wine introduces new life back to the site. The integration of the historic and new aesthetics will create an eclectic environment that offers a variety of spaces that address the physical, social, and emotional well being of its guests.

COLOR PALETTE The palette for this space is inspired by the blue and sense of freshness seen in the water of the springs, which works with the various hues of purple found in the newly growing grapes on the site.

DESIGN PROCESS Throughout the design process, the main strategy used was the layering of trace in order to further develop spaces. Here is an example of my use of layering to further develop the Lobby of The Springs.
