2021-22 Alternate National Shorthorn Lassie Queen

Shorthorn Country Alt. National Queen Recap and Application Due Date Reminder

Serving as the Alternate National Shorthorn Lassie Queen has been such a great opportunity. I have represented the Shorthorn Breed by attending various shows, sales, meetings, and social events. I would like to thank my grandparents; Bob and Ladonna Workman, my parents; Corey and Becky Betts, and my sister; Alyssa Betts for being by my side and supporting me every step of the way. I couldn’t have done it without them! I would also like to thank the Shorthorn Breeders who have supported my reign which allowed me to travel to the Shorthorn events throughout the year. I have enjoyed meeting and talking to new people across the United States. I have also enjoyed working with and getting to know the ASA Staff and Jr. Board. They have been so welcoming and helpful throughout my reign and I am very appreciative.

After being crowned in Louisville, Kentucky at Shorthorn Jr. Nationals in June, I started my reign by going to the Ohio State Fair Open and Jr. Show in Columbus, Ohio. After that, I attended the State Fair of West Virginia Open Northeast Region Points Show in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Then I headed to the Ohio Shorthorn Breeders Association Picnic and Annual Meeting at Twin Oaks Farm in Perrysville, Ohio. I attended the “Where Great Females Make a Difference” Greenhorn Cattle Company Sale in Waynesville, Ohio. The following weekend, I headed to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for the Keystone International Livestock Exposition National Shorthorn and ShorthornPlus Show and Jr. Show. Following that weekend, I made my way to the Keystone Autumn Klassic Shorthorn Sale at Woodside Farm in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Four days later, I left for Kansas City, Missouri for the American Royal National Open Shorthorn Show. While I was there, I attended the 2021 American Shorthorn Association Annual Meeting and Banquet as well as the ASA Office Breeders’ Social, this was an unforgettable experience where I had the opportunity to meet and talk with many breeders across the United States. In Louisville, Kentucky, I attended North American International Livestock Expo Super National purebred and plus open and Jr. Shows, AJSA Deck the Stalls, National Shorthorn Lassie Meeting, and the “Where Future Generations are Created” Greenhorn Cattle Company Sale. In December I went to the Paint Valley, Byland, and Beckler’s “A Maternal Event Sale” in Millersburg, Ohio. I traveled to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Cattleman’s Congress Super National Purebred and Plus open and Jr. Shows, National Shorthorn Pen Show, and “The Summit” National Shorthorn Sale. I went to Jackson, Mississippi for the Dixie National Shorthorn and ShorthornPlus Southeast Region National Show in February. Then, the following weekend I attended the Ohio Shorthorn Breeders Association Annual Meeting and Banquet in West Mansfield, Ohio. On March 5th I made a trip to Louisville, Kentucky for the Kentucky Beef Expo. I have most recently attended the Ohio Beef Expo. During my reign thus far, I have traveled 9,908 miles.
