Hello Friends, What a year 2012 has been from all the excitement generated by a great calf sale season to a better than expected harvest with significant value when sold. Lots of positive things are happening in the agriculture industry and we are proud to say amazing things are happening at Bushy Park Farms. Bushy Park Farms, Owner, Steve Robinson as a youngster dreamed of having some of the best cattle in the country and after building a highly successfully business outside of agriculture, he set a goal not only to build a great program but to have a program that would produce cattle that would improve their customers programs. Bushy Park Farms General Manager, Cory Thomsen is one of the really sharp young cattlemen in the industry and is always, and I mean ALWAYS thinking ahead and thinking of ways to take this program to the next level. Bushy Park Farms could rest on its past accomplishments and coast along, or they could charge head first into new opportunities and they have done just that! After being involved with this program for a few years I am astounded by the progress they have made multiple breeds. In the fall of 2011 BPF offered its very first Polled Hereford females and in 2012 one of those was named Grand Champion Heifer at this summer’s Hereford Junior National! BPF is continuing to build its “Tradition Of Excellence” with an outstanding offering. The 2011 sale was overflowing with great females and I thought it might be impossible for the crew to breed and assemble a better offering than last year’s set but Steve and Cory have “Upped the Ante” once again and put a powerful set together! You will agree, this is by far our best set of Maine Anjou, Purebred Simmental, SimAngus, Hereford, Angus, Chiangus and Composite cattle. The heart of Bushy Park Farms in the Maine Anjou breed and the youth involved with the breed which is why I am excited in the addition of Trae Simmons in the position of Director of Sales. Trae is a terrific young man I have watched grow up in the Maine Anjou breed and was a former President of the AMAA Jr Board. Trae is passionate about our industry’s youth. Please take time to meet Trae and after your visit you’ll know from his perspective “it’s all about the kids”. I truly believe this is a great set of cattle with an outstanding Junior Incentive program, backed by some of the best folks you will find in America. Study the offering, and as always if I can assist you in any way, from cattle selection and sale day bidding to delivery, please feel free to contact me.

With his passing this summer, we felt it only right to start this year’s Tradition of Excellence Sale with the best Hard Drive son ever produced! Lot 1 is the most moderate & the stoutest Hard Drive son we have raised! Aside from his ultra stout and rugged build, what puts this bull in a league of his own is his structure! To be that stout but still move as well as you can make one, we have no doubt this bull has what it takes to leave his mark on the breed.

A full sister to lot 1. One look at this heifer and the word “femininity ” immediately comes to mind. For a purebred Maine-Anjou female, we don’t know how you can make one any more feminine fronted, smooth shouldered and angular in her build! She still has more than enough muscle and mass and when in motion, just like her older brother, comes and goes with as much ease and flexibility as you can possibly build one. If you are looking for a heifer to hang big banners next summer and fall… HERE SHE IS!

Early on several thought Lot 3 was as good as Miley was at that stage‌ As she has developed this fall, she is no doubt as good, and in some regards better than her sister. This heifer is a flat tank! Huge ribbed, big hipped and stout! Along with this, she is sound sound sound! She has flex everywhere she should! This one sure will have her fair share of success in the ring, then when you consider her genetic potential, when put back into production she will be as good as money in the bank! Lot 4 is walking proof that legendary show heifers can produce! This is a direct daughter of Mason Walker’s Hollywood x Irish Whiskey show heifer “Anita Loan,” who dominated the 2010 show season. It will be hard to replicate the success of this heifer’s mother, but if there is a creature out there that can do it… it is lot 4! Aside from the fact that she is great fronted, huge ribbed, super stout and really hairy, what puts this heifer in a league of her own is her structure! Lot 4 has been referred to as “the soundest High Maine heifer we have ever seen” by about everyone who has laid eyes her! To only ad to her already long list of attributes, when Eric Walker saw her stated “She just has that; look at me, I know I am special, presence just like her momma did!”An incredible build, power packed genetics, and that look that demands your attention, this female will be known for a long time to come!

The Tradition of Excellence sale is heavy on Mercedes Benz daughters this year and the reason is, they flat work! One of the most popular calving ease sires in the industry Benz has already sold more than his fair share of high sellers this fall. With that, we feel the Mercedes Benz daughters in this sale are second to none! Lot 5 is one we are very excited about! She is as angular and feminine as you can make one! This female is ultra attractive fronted, perfect structured, and has the rib design that will rival most Angus heifers! On top of all that, she is hairy! She is a little younger, but when her time comes you will see her win pictures in all the stock show publications!

In terms of silhouette you couldn’t draw one much better! Extended and angular up front, a great shape to her rib, and a back leg set you don’t often! 50Z’s mother came us from the Blind Badger Ranch and is a direct daughter to Nowatzke’s 84M donor that is truly one of the great income generators of the breed. Sired by the 2009 American Royal Champion Bull called Outcross owned by Hoffman Ranch, and the Hoffman donor Paris, we think this pair of flush mates have a ton of potential. 167Zº is super big footed and boned, stout in terms of her build, but still has a great shape and angle to her front end and is awesome structured. A twin to Z08. This big ribbed, stout made heifer is a lot like her sire, Wyarno. Z09 has a great disposition and any junior member will be able to handle her, yet still have an awesome cow when it’s all said & done.

Lot 39 starts off our Simmental offering and does so rightfully! This Built Right daughter is out of our foundation Simmental donor P11. Whether being mated purebred or for percentage cattle P11 is a no miss female. This daughter out of her has the making to be the same way! She is as attractive fronted, capacious, and sound as you can make one. Couple that with a strong genetic foundation behind her she has all the pieces to make her mark within the Simmental breed.

Steel Magnolia was campaigned heavily by Jake Bloomberg last year and was the winningest Simmental heifer in the country! She won Simmental Junior Nationals and Illinois State Fair just to name a few. Here is the opportunity to own her first natural calf by Goldmine. Proud Mary as we call her is proof that those big time show heifers can still make tremendous cows. This heifer has that same build as her mother with the added power it takes to be competitive. In terms of investments, this heifer is good!

We are absolutely packed with genetic quality in our Simmental division this year. Lots 42 and 43 are full sisters to Jake Bloomberg’s heifer Steel Magnolia. Any one who knows that heifer knows how good she is and now we are offering not only her first daughter, but two full sisters. Lot 42 is emulates Steel Magnolia closely. Long necked, big ribbed, and still stout, this female travels as well as any. Given what cattle from this mating can do these next two lots are no brainers from a profitability stand point.

Lot 43 is the more moderate, stouter made of the pair of sisters. Maybe not quite the look of lot 42, but for what she lacks she makes up for in power and rib! Just to reiterate how good of an investment she can be these two sisters are part of a cow family that are some of the most sought out in the country.

Bushy Park is not known for having large numbers of Angus cattle but the few we do have we think are lights out good this year! With that being said we felt it was only right to offer this maternal powerhouse as the first Angus lot of the three. This May heifer is an outlier when it comes to rib, body, and fleshing ability! Aside from that, she is still super feminine and attractive in her look. Lot 67 could easily start the sale. We could write a book on what this female has done for BPF. It’s with mixed emotions we offer her to the public on October 27th. We will greatly miss this female and her influence on our program, but are excited to allow someone to capitalize on her producing capabilities. Last year’s Tradition of Excellence sale was the debuted her progeny, lot 6 sired by Hard Drive and lot 26 Sired by Mercedes Benz. Both of these heifers sold for 5 figures.
