Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute The Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute epitomizes Iowa State’s landgrant mission of education and outreach. These programs serve a broad spectrum of constituencies and audiences. The goals of the Institute are: • to enhance the development of creativity in students through the performing arts. • to assist in the career development of young artists by providing performance opportunities and educational experiences. • to offer students at all educational levels the opportunity to interact directly with professional artists through master classes, workshops, lecture demonstrations and clinics.
In addition to to Mr. Hakhnazaryan’s residency, programs scheduled for the 2011-2012 season include: • Staged reading and masterclass with the Aquila Theatre Company • 17 school-time matinee performances • Residency with multicultural instrumentalist Todd Green • On Stage! - an audience development project for high school students •

In collaboration with the Iowa State Center’s Performing Arts Series, the Institute introduces students at all levels to the performing arts and serves over 15,000 students from pre-school to college age each year. Workshops and performances in the schools, master classes with professional artists, and school-time matinees at Stephens Auditorium are offered in the areas of music, theatre and dance.
