Following a degree in Classics and Archaeology, Carolyn lectured in Ancient History and Mythology at Queen Mary College, University of London. She later moved to the Education Department of The British Museum before managing the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at UCL. She continues to work in museums and education, lecturing on various aspects of the ancient Mediterranean and Islamic world and is currently Chair of the British Foundation for the Study of Arabia.

Dr Ian Colvin began research on Georgia and the South Caucasus in 1991 with an undergraduate thesis on Late Roman, Byzantine and Sasanian (Iranian) involvement in Georgia (Oxford University). As part of this doctoral research he studied modern and classical Georgian, which he now reads and speaks fluently. Since the late nineties he has headed up an Anglo-Georgian archaeological expedition which is still in operation today.

Wander through Bedouin souqs and take a dhow cruise around Bait al Baranda. Drive through the rolling Wahiba Sands and stop at the deserted coastal areas on the south-eastern coast. The journey culminates with three days in Salalah in the Dhofar region, home to frankincense, wadis, lively fishing harbours and archaeological sites.

Tony has been resident in Oman since 1986 and frequently leads tours in the Gulf. He regularly gives lectures on the region and has given talks to Harvard and Stanford alumni. Tony is a keen photographer and has had a wide range of written articles published on Oman. Having lived and worked in the Gulf for almost 30 years he provides a very personal and informed perspective of the region.

Many of the flights and flight inclusive holidays in this brochure are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. But ATOL protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services listed. Please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking. If you do not receive an ATOL certificate then the booking will not be protected by ATOL. If you do receive an ATOL certificate but all the parts of your trip are not listed on it, those parts will not be ATOL protected. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable).
