Edible Landscape & Permaculture Fibonacci Brewing Co. - Plan and Design Proposal
Morgan Pencek, Jared Schroeder, Shelby Watterson, & Steven Trimboli
Base Plan Existing location of trees, stumps and structures
Foliage & Sun Path Existing trees, plants, and sun affect
●
Slight shade is cast from the southern forest during the summer
●
Existing canopy produces excessive shade
●
Rear of the property above forest is sunny
SITE DRAINAGE How water moves on the site â—?
Site elevation is highest to the north, lowest toward the south-eastern corner of the site â—‹ Recommended a small tiered slope known as a bioswale to help slow the flow of water and lessen the pooling
Design & Layout ●
Design enhances brand through simple, but naturalistic space layout
●
Provides variety of spaces for utilization from public to private spaces and use
●
Plan does not stuff space but makes the space feel that it has volume
Beer Garden ●
Design reflects natural forms in pathways and planting beds
●
Central beer garden utilizes reused brick from farmhouse to designate space
●
Numerous pathways provides a variety of edges for easy access to harvest plants
●
Walnut guild plants chosen specifically for tolerance
Farm & Fruit Guilds ●
Three 4’ x 20’ planting beds for seasonal, annual plantings on east side
●
Small fruit tree guilds with nitrogen-fixing redbud in the center
●
On the west side, berry bushes and small fruiting trees to provide fruit and barrier for neighbors
Bee Garden ●
Plants chosen specifically for bees and pollination
●
Tall switch grass on the northern side by parking to create barrier
●
Incorporates stepped “bio-swale” to reduce the effects of drainage of western side
Bee Garden Rendering
Plant Aesthetic ● ● ● ●
Whites Yellows Greens Blue & Purple Accents
Plants were chosen based on tolerance to shade, deer, and rabbits. White and Yellow flowers are the main color focus with the green foliage framing the flowers. Blue and purple flowering plants are mixed in to accent the white, yellow and green colors.
