These lights worked by burning oil, they were for the benefit if pedestrians to see the cyclist at night, not to allow the cyclist to see where they were going.
A Gin Trap. This was used by gamekeepers and farmers to trap game but also to trap nuisance species like foxes. Their use was banned in 1958.
Typical keys for locks on doors. They would often be carried by the mistress of the house on a clasp called a Chatelain worn around her waist.
This small gun would fit into a pocket. It could also be carried by a women in a muff, a cylindrical glove open at each end into which they put their hands for warmth.
These snips (scissors) were squeezed to make them cut. The loop was a spring to make them open again. You can still buy similar ones for clipping small shrubs.
What do you need to say about a cannon ball. Its heavy!
This model of a timber framed house was made for us by: --------It demonstrates how the house developed from the central hall house with just two bays open to the roof, to a large farmhouse with the additional end bays and upper floors.
Medicine bottles and feeding bottles. Chemist used to provide medicines in bottles with the chemist’s own name moulded into the glass bottle.
Souvenir china from Reigate and Redhill. Items like these are still created for special events, most recently Royal Weddings.
