ashion Inc. If there is one artist that you should keep your eye on in the coming years it would have to be Michael Buntyn, a man with a mission. Much more than an artist, he is also an innovator and a businessman. By breaking the boundaries of traditional comic book art he is striving to use his talent to inspire the youth. Comic books is more than the characters to Buntyn. It is about using art and story telling to stimulate young minds. Self-assurance is a virtuous trait that every woman should own, and Jen Prudhome is one such fashion designer who creates works of art for those who desire greatness. Heavily influenced by music and culture, Jen’s use of color turns heads, wows crowds, and speaks of confidence. Her collection, “Jenny P”, knows no boundaries. From designing apparel since 17 years old to recently designing a custom-made sweatshirt for Jamaican superstar Sean Kingston, Jen offers dull wardrobes something to squeal about. Appearing for the fifth Project Ethos event as its Fashion Coordinator, Jen has her hand in both pots – this is her second time participating in the show as a fashion designer.

Dane Lenon knows, and understands, the female form; he is keen on creating excitingly, daring, new styles. This is why Dane’s collection, “DLEN,” is a prime line of women’s wear gone eclectic. Think metallics, excess flowy material, and the darker side of fashion. For a 25-year old proud of his successes, Dane couldn’t imagine working in any other industry. In fact, he wouldn’t dare dream it either. Being picked up in 2007 by Project Ethos, after they noticed his designs on MySpace, this dreamer has lots to share with ClosetMouse about his rise to fame. Her name is Jazmin Whitley – the 20 year old who is starring in her own MTV show, “House of Jazmin.” She is definitely not a young Hollywood, talentless, Reality TV show star either. Nope, this is a fashion designer who first showed must-have pieces at 17 years old, in high school, and then continued to prove the old adage that “age is just a number” – she was the youngest fashion designer, 19 years old, to show her collection, “Li Cari,” at New York Fashion Week. Celebrities are catching on to Li Cari, as it “lingers on timeless and classic looks that are eternally appealing, with a modern touch influenced by her youthful and innovative personality.

The Mulleavy sisters have fiercely continued their march in the league of high fashion leaving the front row fashionistas and editors of power houses intrigued by each collection. Originally from Pasadena, California, Rodarte was Founded in 2005 by sister duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who skillfully tagged their new designer line with their mother´s maiden name. The graduates from UC Berkeley received the liberal arts degrees in 2001 but left the comfortable teacher occupation behind in order to pursue their own fashion label. Often labeled as “emotional clothing”, their fans can feel and see that their creation goes far beyond just dresses and jackets. Rodarte creations have always seemed more like art a piece rather than a dress: delicate, unusual and daring. The girls are known having an amazing visionary , taking their inspiration from the Manga, Frankenstein, Starwars, Fairies. Having already seduced the crowds in fashion capital, New York; most of Europe is still wishing to have a bigger piece of their creations as they have had at the moment. Especially good news what makes Parisians rush towards the chic concept store Colette is the long-waited collaboration with the sister duo. As the brand has not been widely reachable yet for the Europeans, the famous boutique will host some of the best pieces of designer´s Fall/Winter 2009 collection during the Fashion Week in October and creating the gallery space between art and fashion. It will include a fantasy world with their favorite horror films (Rosamary´s Baby and Texas Chainsaw Massacre amongst others), favourite CV-s and DVD-s, particularly created stuffed and knitted animals, aswell a limited edition of jewellery designed by their own mother. When describing the Rodarte collections, there is always a big excitement generated by their amazing and confident shoewear, receiving the same amount of spotlight as the clothing. The most loved ones are definelty Christian Louboutin for Rodarte from the Fall 2008 fiercly spiked shoe collection with a strong touch of fetich

inspiration.

Available in sharp black and white, white vinyl or golden colour, these heels will play the role of the bodyguards on the streets. Another shoe designer Nicolas Kirkwood apparently loved also experimenting on the edge in NY Fashion Week These collaborations seems to be working for Rodarte, as their collections are always representing confident and a mature modern woman.

First, I would like to say thank you for giving us this opportunity for us to interview you. Can you tell Stilo a little about yourselves? We´re Clara and Xavi, a creative couple since year 2000. We met in the school and from that moment we did not separate. We consider ourselves to be friends, brothers, companions of life and psychologist of one another. Q: How did you come up with the name Zazobrull? What made you decide to use your last names as the name of your line? We needed a personal and special name for our clothes. A name with which we were feeling identified with, so we decide to join our surnames which are not very common to create the brand. Q: I took a look at your AW09 2009 line and I have to say that your collection is fabulous. I see a lot of bold designs in the collection. Describe your collection. What story are you telling the AW09 collection? The collection for this Autumn/inter 09-10 it is called “Seresâ€? (Beings) and part of the inspiration was provide to us by things that we were surprise with. In our last trip to Paris we discover the work of a taxidermist of animals. The man had created new non-existent beings, departing from the mixture of different animals. The result seemed to be impressive, beautiful and worrying at the same time. Of there the idea arises to initiate the collection. To mix elements that resemble the nature with references to different aspects of the insects, theirs shells, the drawings of the wings or the spawns. To represent it we have used the study of the pattern, the silk-screen printing and the incorporation of the knit that has given us the possibility of creating new volumes that before we had not worked with. Q: Who would you say is the kind of woman that you are attracting with your collection? The woman who wants to dress of zazo&brull thinks in a condition of maturity that it seeks to cover a type of higher needs. They are women who seek to be independent from the dominant environment, unconformists. They are not pretentious women not artificial and want to base their free choices, across own judgments and with a desire to live through the experience of the life with major intensity. Q: Are your pieces being sold anywhere? Where can your customers purchase them? At this moment we sell mainly in multi-branch shops in Spain and we have points of sale in Paris and Moscow. Shortly we will open our first shop in Barcelona. Q: What fashion events have you participated in this year? Do you plan to bring any of your collection to the US, in the future? We have taken part in 080 barcelona fashion presenting our two collections autumn-winter 09-10 and spring-summer 10. We have been in the rendez-vous lounge in Paris and we were invited to participate at the fashion week in Bolivia. We would love to take our collections to the USA though it is not in our immediate plans. wa www.stilomag.com Stilo Magazine

M

odel Diary::

Words by:: Stacey Sexton

My whole life I have felt like I should be doing something big, bigger than me, even., something that says more about me than anything else. I was always the shy, quiet girl growing up, but I’ve never been scared of cameras,. I embraced them. When I step in front of a camera on set something different takes over, and it instantly feels so right. It’s like anxiety, nerves, courage, determination, and confidence all wrapped into one, creating this energizing buzz throughout my body. I moved here to Toronto from St. John’s, Newfoundland and there’s such a huge difference between these two cities. I wasn’t scared of the change though, I knew what I wanted to do here and that was to really dive into the modeling world because now it was more accessible to me. I made the decision to join Model Mayhem (a networking site for models, photographers, makeup artsits and stylists to meet and exchange talents.), not really knowing what I was getting myself into, I uploaded some pictures and got great feedback. I talked to photographers, makeup artists, and other models surrounding Toronto, it was such a new and exciting experience and I was so happy to have something to gave me an immediate gateway to all these fantastic people! Since I joined I have made so much progress with my portfolio and it is expanding every single day, I thank so many photographers, makeup artists, stylists, whoever has put any time and effort into my shots, because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have such great photos. I love anything and everything to do with modeling. It’s definitely a journey, you meet so many people

along the way, and word spreads like wildfire! I love meeting the makeup artists, the photographers, even their friends or their spouses. I believe everyone you meet along the way has an impact on you in some form, it’s really inspiring talking to everyone and getting to know them. I’ve actually met one of my really good friends at a photo shoot, she was my makeup artist and we hit it off so well, we talk regularly now, she’s done my makeup plenty of times and she’s a great friend! As we all know modeling isn’t exactly the easiest field to get into, it’s competitive, it’s in your face, it’s unapologetic. You must have a thick skin if you want to get into this industry. I’ve gotten turned down by so many agencies, they say I’m too short, I may be too short for them but just because I am for them doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be someone else that sees something in you. I’ve learned to toughen up and not back down, and to keep my spirits high. I have now found the agency that has faith in my look and that has given me the opportunity to be in this magazine. I am so happy that NAM models gave me the chance to do what I love on that much more of a serious level. I’m really hoping they can help me get out into the international market. I make a lot of people happy with the images I produce for them, I am passionate and serious about what I do while still having lots of fun! Right now I am taking my time building and perfecting my portfolio, managing a part time job, and trying to take in time for relaxation as well, it’s always important to get your beauty sleep! :o)”

A product of all things I hate

how to separate what seems real from reality

Humble beginnings to vanity, cosumer me not Wish I fought, All the propaganda, make lots of money save a panda , rescue mission in Sudan Try to understand that life’s what you make it Still tryin’ to fight the man Day in, Day out, War of the world War of the mind, Life’s a mission Make it kind---Help! Future generations, fight the stipulation, manipulation of the outside dimension Buying... $2000 purses when kids need food and nurses on the polar end Still tryin’ to fight the man Day in, Day out, War of the world War of the mind, Life’s a mission Make it kind Spending on protection when we should be thinking of prevention Where’s the intervention, of this madman? Like a distorted creation from the Stan man Lee that is, Like honey from a bee that is Essence of a flower, bottle it up, double it up and sell it ---to the masses These words are real, but nothing surpasses what thy kingdom come, and thy will be done, on Earth is where we gotta make it Prophet to prophet Mohammed to Jesus Kind word to action Sub,liminal reaction Like the Tibetan saint Dalai Lama Still tryin’ to fight the man Day in, Day out, War of the world War of the mind, Life’s a mission Make it kind

Nothing is better than a night filled with mind blowing art and body moving music. That is what the Future Classic Music Festival was. From the moment, you walked in Soho Studios you were greated with great sounds from bands such as: NERD, Art Official, Sonika, and Jahfe and DJ’s such as: DJ Elle, and DJ Pauer. Models whose bodies were painted stood near eye catching paintings from artists who were once considered to only master graffiti. Guests either stood to listen as their favorite band played or visited one of the many vendors and artists that intrigued them. It marked the beginning of a new era for Miami. Once again, a great event has graced the streets to bring many different people together in peace and music. Photos:: gopixit.com/cbsphotography
