Lights, Camera, Action!! I just want to say thank you of your support. We are growing. We are about to officially launch Stilo TV and our Web Series, “The Stylist Diary real soon. We are also now Bi-Monthly, so you will see a lot more of us. It has been 5 years of Fashion and Fun. I am excited to see what the future holds. In this issue, you will see how we have evolved. We still manage to maintain our balance between the Indie and Mainstream Designers. I love the fact that we have never locked ourselves into a box. We represent Fashion as an Art, not an income bracket or status. We want everyone to feel welcome and know that you have a part to play in the fashion world. We are all unique and have our own tastes. So let me introduce you to how we see style. Come explore with us as we journey across borders, with out leaving our seats. Thanks once again. Eye brows are an essential part of the face. It can make or break your look.

As many spend many

dollars on waxing and grooming their brows, here is a collection designed to help the woman on the go do their own like a pro. Well known for her work with the cast from True Blood, Make-up Artist, Brow Expert and Arch Artist, Kelley Baker has released her own self-named, line of easy to use products, “The Collection by Kelly Baker Brows.” The collection features a line of products that is used to groom and shape eye brows. “Eyebrows frame the face and if they’re done right, can make anyone look amazing. Correctly groomed brows give an instant lift and keeps a person looking young and fresh faced, ” says Kelley.

Kelley Baker Brows The Kelley Baker Brow Collection helps clients maintain their brows in between their appointments. No more having to worry about missing an appointment to groom your eyebrows and not looking your best, this collection is a fashionista must have this spring. “We’ve all had the experience of going to a hair salon, geing styled and going home not knowing how to re-do what the stylist did! Brows shouldn’t be that hard. There seem to be too many options and confusing choices for brow products. So I pared down my collection to only the essentials. I heart simple, best, easy.” -- Kelley Baker - Brow Expert

www.stilomag.com Stilo Magazine

15

“You don’t need 10 different shades of brow colors,” says Kelley. “It’s all about using the best products in universal shades, and applying them properly. “My goal is for everyone to be able to recreate full, natural brows that are instagram worthy.”

Baker

Brows Collection Presented in Application Steps 1. KBB Brow Powder (Brown or Blonde), $20 Kelley wants to offer her clients quality, easy-to-use products; so when it came to creating the perfect brow powder, Kelley went directly to the best in business – Milan, Italy. Kelley worked with a small developer to formulate the mistake-proof ‘KBB Brow Powder’. The ultra-luxe powders glide on easily, without flaking or falling residue. Available in two universal shades, brown (for brunees, black hair and dark blondes seeking a more dramatic look) and blonde (ideal for blondes and redheads, as well as light grey hair), Kelley’s keen sense of color is demonstrated through the powder’s ability to create a natural eyebrow. 2. KBB Perfect Angle Spooly Brush, $30 Kelley Baker brings her brow-shaping perfection to the KBB Perfect Angle Spooly Brush. For precise and uniform powder distribution, the angle end of this essential tool is the first brow brush made with 100% DuPont™ Natrafil® filaments, a synthetic alternative to animal bristles. Kelley chose Natrafil® filaments for a so feel along with precise pick up and release performance for a cleaner makeup effect. She then designed the precise thickness, stiffness and angle to create a reliable, durable and userfriendly powder brush. 3. KBB Magic Stick, $20 Kelley’s clients call this the “Hallelujah” Stick because it’s a miracle worker. KBB Magic Stick is a so, creamy highlighter in one universal shade (seriously works for ALL skin tones – from the fairest to the darkest). Kelley uses this on every one of her clients (and herself daily!) to create a bright-eyed look. She applies this right under the brows to instantly li and define the brows. Whether starting with a full face of makeup or just wearing it to the gym, the KBB Magic Stick is a quick-fix waker upper for everyone. 4. KBB Perfect Highlighter Brush, $20 A brush for blending and defining? Yes. It exists. And it’s called the KBB Perfect Highlighter Brush. This brush effortlessly blends the Magic Stick and helps to define it into the most seamless line under the brow. Try it to believe it. The handle on all KBB brushes are shortened to fit into small makeup bags – for on-the-go fabulousness. 5. KBB Brow Gel, $20 Finally, every perfected brow needs to stay that way. KBB Brow Gel is clear (universal shade of course) and “fixes” flyaway brows without feeling tacky or hard. Some of her clients tell her that they just use this product to groom when in a rush. www.stilomag.com Stilo Magazine

more thanMarc JacobsCLASSIC A/W 2014 Men’s wear Colection Marc Jacobs has a way of making a statement without saying much. The Marc Jacobs Fall 2014 Menswear Collection, seems to represent the classic man with a modernized flair. Suits with trench like overcoats, bowties, velvet jackets, turtlenecks, and prints are used to create an eclectic, and futuristic expression of the gentleman. As Marc Jacobs just left Louis Vuitton, last fall, it seems as if he is stepping it up a bit and refreshing his collections. From his dramatic runway shows to the detailed creativity, we are reminded that the designer makes the brand. In some of the looks, Marc takes the upscale look and edges it up with a more hip and trendy finish, such as the oversized leather parker jacket or the black velvet jacket, bowtie paired with the black and white printed pants. Classic doesn’t have to be boring.

It’s

time for a change. It is time to look beyond the norm and take regular to another level. Nothing is better than a man who loves to look good. Well, Marc Jacobs might be the perfect fit for that… ha, ha…

RIVER

River Island S/S 2014 Women Wear Colection

OF STYLE

They first caught our eye, when they collaborated with Rihanna. Since then River Island has proven to be more then another brand trying to get attention. They are consistently giving us pieces that represents today’s trends while still maintaining the entire personality of the brand, “River Island.” Style doesn’t have to make you go broke. This is a message that is being clearly being communicated as high-end designers collaborate with mass productive apparel companies to produce stylist ensembles. But companies, such as River Island is making their own stance in the industry as becoming one of today’s staple places to get all of the current season’s must haves. River Island’s Women’s Wear Spring Summer 2014 collection brings a variety of what we see on the runway. Soft Pinks, Leather, Black, Print, and Abstract Designs represent some what is in the collections. Sportswear is now haute, so to speak. S/S 2014, as Prabal Garung says, is laid back and fun. River Island creates a collection for the chic fashionista letting down her hair. Ready to have fun, showing her playful mood through what she wears.

Soft & Sleek PRABAL GARUNG PRE-FALL 2014 “Sportswear with couture ideals,” says Prabal Garung as he described his pre-fall 2014 collection to Vogue Magazine. The collection accommodates the transition of weather, as well as the changes in style.

It incorporates soft lady-like features but spices up with

accents that make the entire look more hip and edgy. The pieces define contrast. They start out milder with soft colors with feminine expressions, then gives a bite with additions of abstract art, leather, a hint of urban flair and gives an essence of masculine flair here and there. Prabal Garung, Spring Summer Collection brought an effortless beauty kind of feel. It was described as more carefree and laid back. Prabal now transitions into a back to business vibe. His pieces are still a little flirty for pre-fall but maintains a bit of seriousness and precision. As spring and summer collections were once the most bright and fun collections, there is a trend with designers to include that same energy into autumn and winter. Now with pre-fall as the transitional season, Prabal helps the stylish woman move from season to season without making drastic changes to her style. The pieces are made to match her mood… chic but sleek… Prabal Garung launched his own collection during NY Fashion Week in 2009, after being Director of Fashion at Bill Blass for 4 years. His experience working for various fashion houses around the world as well as interning for Donna Karen, shows throughout his collections. Parsons School of Design and FIT saw something in him from the beginning when they awarded him with “Best Designer” at their annual Parsons/FIT Designer Competition. With so many designers entering the industry, it is the ones that consistently show their ability to express their vision that get true recognition.

MODERNIZING BOBO Reinventing Bobo-C hic wit h trending styles from H&M and BCBG. Photographer: Lesley Pedraza www.lesleypedraza.com Stylist: Lauren Gold Hair/Make-Up: Ana Vergara Retouching: Argiris Maipas www.qualityretouching.com Model: Jacqueline Depaul @ Wilhelmina Models, www.jacquelinedepaul.com Bobo-chic is a retro bohemian and hippy look that hit the streets of Park Lane and Piccadilly in 2004, sported by British Fashion Icons Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. The looks are seasonally transitional and a mix of pattern, color and texture. A comfortable and casual look that can often seem as if no effort has been put in to the attire, even though the pieces selected have been paired intentionally and with purpose. * It was in the year 2000 that David Brooks, the NY Times columnist, wrote a book: Bobos In Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There. Brooks’ book was subject of an interview with Gwen Ifill on NPR the year it was published. (http://www. pbs.org/newshour/gergen/jan-june00/brooks_5-9.html). Brooks describes “Bobos” as the cultural result of the “information age”. Quoting from his own review in the NY Times of his own book, Brooks says about Bobos: “These are highly educated folk who have one foot in the bohemian world of creativity and another foot in the bourgeois realm of ambition and worldly success. The members of the new information age elite are bourgeois bohemian. Or, to take the first two letters of each word, they are Bobos.” According to Brooks, Bobos are identified by having “rebel attitudes and social- climbing attitudes all scrambled together.” As fashion reflects our inner attitudes, this bourgeois-bohème fusion style is favored by artists, designers, musicians, and other creatives who epitomize a certain “je ne sais quoi” sense of Parisian nonchalance and cool. You may describe the style as “bohemian”, but it’s not exactly that. It’s rather a higher grade of the 1960s “hippy” generation with a uniqueness that makes it new. It’s a look that is flirty, yet puritan; dark, yet light; feminine, yet tight-laced; Shirt, Sweater: H&M. Leggings, Boots: BCBG

Model to Watch....

SUMMER CROSLEY By Mary B. Logan P R

Summer was born in a small town in the Midwest. She is a small town girl at heart. As a little girl she always knew she wanted to do something different, something her family could be proud of one day. Summer always had a passion for beauty and fashion from a very young age.
