WELLA PROFESSIONALS As a fashion editor, I don’t usually style models, but every now an then a project calls for a mood board. In my creative process one day, I realized how important hair plays into styling. A hairstyle is the most important element in the look. Today’s hottest trends in hair lean towards a blend between the edginess of rock with the elegance of glam. Well Hair Professionals did a campaign shoot, using one of my favorite line of hair products, by Sebastian Professionals. I really love that they were able to maintain boldness while keeping conservatism.

Don’t know what it is about a Man in a Suit that catches women’s attention. I so love the Summer Men’s Collection by River Island. I love the intelligent use of color. The color doesn’t over power the looks, instead it perfectly brings out the suits. Is this the end of casual Fridays? Are headed towards another Zoot Suit Era? The influx of Men’s Suits in different collection can be expressed as a change in the male gender to be taken more seriously. It’s not about the Metro Sexual, but rather just about Men being Men. Whoever said Men don’t love Style, obviously have not looked at any fash-

ion magazines lately. Men are caring more about their looks today than years ago. Men no longer just want to wear T-Shirts and Jeans. What we love about River Island, is that they introduce a higher level of style from a generation x perspective. They are realizing that the younger generation is getting older but with a different set of thinking than the generation before. Think more energy, more vibrancy and more love for life.

SUMMER I believe a woman is sexier, when she is relaxed and comfortable. The trends of lately aren’t skintight clothing, but rather looser and relaxed fitting wear. The art of elegance is making a way back to fashion. In a way, it never really left. This High Summer, as we approach Pre-Fall, lighten up your wardrobe in more ways than one. I grew up in NYC, and having a Fashionista as a Cousin, taught me to bargain shop from a very little girl. As the idea of modest priced RTW clothing has not been new, as we become more focused on value, places like H&M, Zara and Forever 21, gives fashion lovers a chance to be stylish while being financially responsible. Summer is a favorite season to many. It is a time, you want to play more, relax more and not have to worry too much about school or even work. H&M introduces a Summer Collection that fits the mood you are in. It is also almost timeless. You can mix and match these pieces with fall apparel to give you the perfect seasonal transition. Style is not the designer or the cost, style is your ability to express yourself with what you wear.

One of the newest trends is promoting fitness through fashion, or shall I say, fashion through fitness? This season, Topshop and Adidas did a special S/S 2014 collection promoting fashionable fitness apparel. The Adidas logo, paired with colorful abstract, bright pastel colors and a signature black and white design. The collection’s look book images features a model with underdone, wet looking hair and natural make up. The first thing that comes to mind is a marathon runner. Fashionable fitness apparel could have a variety of benefits. Not only does it make going to gym more fun, it also motivates women to be fit. The bright and playful colors, artistic print and classic pieces such as the running shorts, sweat shirt, tank tops and running suit, are feminine, stylish and scream fitness. MADDIE LOUVIERE FALL 2014 There is a new designer in town. New Orleans Fashion Designer, Maddie Louviere is currently turning heads as she successfully displays a collection made for the flirty, confident and sassy woman. Her pieces use simple colors, such as white. The pieces are a combination of sheer fabrics, made with shoulder pads, high collars and hoods. The collection expresses a soft and feminine woman with an edge. The pieces are trendy and very wearable. They are sexy but yet classy. And yes, we love her play with white too. The peices styled with the grey knee hi’s really set the tone for her entire collection. We are looking foward to seeing more from this NOLA designer, Maddie Louviere in the future. Maybe it is the blood colored red, but this collection reminds me of a vampire movie. The collection is anything but regular. Its pieces show evidence of the detail orientation of Haute Couture and fine fabrics. Since 1976, Pedro Del Hierro has been one of Spain’s well renowned designer collections. Pedro Del Hierro reminds us that though in the US, we might not be too familiar, there is more to fashion than the trends.
