We will decorate the sanctuary with poinsettias for Christmas Eve worship. The Altar Guild is providing the opportunity to contribute plants in honor or in memory of loved one. Each plant will cost $14.00. Please e-mail Toni (toni@sjlcknox.org) or Clarke (clarke@sjlcknox.org) to place your order. The names of those honored will be included in a special bulletin on Christmas Eve; to meet the printing deadline, orders need to be placed by December 20.

The Stephen Ministry Lunch and Service of Remembrance is scheduled for THIS Sunday, December 4, 2022. At 12:10, the Stephen Ministers will host a light lunch in the Sparks Fellowship. At 1:00, the St. John’s family will remember those who completed life during the past year, celebrating the promise of resurrection in worship. We will light a candle in memory of those who enriched our lives by being present and who now remind us of a hope-filled eternity: parents, children, siblings, family members, and friends. Please plan to join us for a gentle time of reflection. You don’t have to have lost a loved one in the last year to join us, all are welcome! RSVPs for lunch are requested; please contact Toni or Clarke in the church office at 523-3330 or e-mail them at toni@sjlcknox.org or clarke@sjlcknox.org.

SAM--Senior Adult Ministry...Wednesday, December 7 at 11:30 am We will begin in the sanctuary at 11:30 am for Christmas music and devotions. Danny Brown, a talented musician in Knoxville, will give our program. You will think you have been to a symphony orchestra with Danny Brian as the guest pianist, as he tells a musical story of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” Please join us for this beautiful performance. Following the program, we will go into the Fellowship Hall for a Christmas luncheon. Please make a reservation early, so we can give the caterer the number of servings to bring. RSVP to Mary at memecole@comcast.net or 865-584-3153. For our Blessing Basket, the following items have been suggested (at my request) for us to give to VMC (Volunteer Ministry Center): adult coloring books and colored pencils, sweatpants (adult sizes), sweatshirt hoodies (adult sizes), and socks for both men and women. VMC mission is to facilitate permanent, supportive housing for those who are homeless and to provide services to prevent homelessness. Thank you for sharing with our church neighbors during this Christmas season. Happy Advent (as of Nov. 27th) to all of you as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Hope to see you Wednesday, December 7th.

Love and peace, Mary
