We’ll have great adult supervision, with teens to help give individual attention to your little one. We’ll have play time, dinner, a movie, and music. Just sign up to reserve a space; let us know about your little one(s); and we will see you on Sept 2! Please bring a blanket, a pillow, and a stuffed animal in case they get sleepy, and we will take great care of them while you go out. Just promise to pick them by 9:00! First Friday will once again be returning to the Fellowship Hall from 5:30 to 7:00, and then we can open back up into the rest of the building. (We have a wedding rehearsal in Sanctuary until 6:30!)

I'm asking for some help from SJLC member and friends this Sunday, August 28, after 2nd service. A Place At The Table invites and encourages St; John's members and friends to plan to stay after 2nd Service worship on Sunday, August 28 to make sandwiches to feed our hungry, homeless neighbors. Can't stay? That's OK, too. You can make sandwiches after 1st service. Can't stay then either? You can make them from home and just bring them to church with you. The leadership of the organization is changing as Lois and Meredith step down and take some time for themselves and their families. APATT is reorganizing. There will be another very important meeting to introduce a number of Team Leader job descriptions and team member opportunities. This meeting will happen on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:30pm at St. John's Lutheran on Broadway. Cases of bottled water would also be appreciated! In the meantime, we need to serve 200-225 meals on Monday, August 29. That's where you and the sandwich making comes in! We will have on hand enough sliced meat for over 200 sandwiches. What we need is sliced bread and sliced cheese. One loaf makes approximately 10 sandwiches. So we need a minimum of 20 loaves. We would like to make even more sandwiches, if possible. 200 is the minimum. This means we would also welcome more sliced meat and cheese slices. If you are available for an hour or two, there are jobs to be done between 2pm and 7pm each Monday, whether you want to stay in the kitchen or help serve our neighbors, can stand for a job or need to sit. Please join us!

September 7 at 11:30 am Sparks Fellowship Hall Lunch: Cost is $5.00. For reservations, please contact Mary Cole at 865-584-3153 or memecole@comcast.net Program: “John Tirro, the Musician” Pastor John will share his journey as a musician and play several of his pieces.
