Team Spotlight of the Week! TLC (Tender Lovin’ Cooking) believes that when you share food, you share so much more than food. Sharing food is our ‘love language’. We love to encourage people to talk over food and to continue to build relationships. We are so proud that TLC has provided food for the following events this summer: TLC volunteers shared food for the Meal and Porch Visit with church members. (The next one is Sept. 24th. If you would like a visit from a church friend and a yummy lunch, call the church to be included.) TLC provided the barbeque pork and buns for the Stewardship Potluck on June 15th. TLC was privileged to share a beautiful reception at Pastor John’s Celebration of His Service to Tyson House on June 22. We support our church friends in joy and in sorrow. It was such an honor to provide a reception in the Sparks Fellowship Hall to celebrate the life of Tom McGalliard and on another date to celebrate our brother in Christ, Helmut Busse. TLC provides snacks and sweet treats at many church events. If you like to cook—a meal provided by a team or a batch of cookies for an event—we would love for you to join TLC. You could be on a TLC team that provides a brunch on st 1 Sundays in the fall or provide a team supper during Lent. Or you could be on a TLC special events list to provide cookies, an appetizer, a salad, etc. for special events. Contact Nancy Maland at nkmaland@hotmail.com or text or call her at 865-964-0851 to join TLC. Come an be the hands and feet of Christ as an expression of love through the sharing of food.

B.E.E.R. (Brother’s Engaged in Enriching Relationships) will gather Tuesday August 23rd at 6:00 at Schulz Brau Brewery – 126 Bernard Ave. We will keep the discussion light and welcome all, (especially those under 50 to keep Jordan from feeling too young). Please contact Garry Menendez menendez@utk.edu or Jordan Baker jentolyn@gmail.com if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Darrell recently took some time away to heal from a shoulder surgery to correct some ligament damage and subsequently had significant rehab on the same shoulder. He came back to work in mid July…Darrell and I sat down and had a lovely Q & A about his return… Tell us three words that describe how it feels to be back… “Assertive—LOVED—humbled” Tell us the place you have seen Christ the most since you came back… “When I am picking up the trash and networking with the neighbors, He humbles me, teaches me, and makes my heart sweeter through the process” Three things about Darrell…He has a degree in Fashion Merchandising, at 63 he feels like he is just becoming “teachable”. He shares his life with his wonderful wife LaWanda whom he loves very much and his two dogs, Butch and Sadie. Welcome Back Darrell – You are Awesome!

~Altar Flowers Update~

Inquirer’s Gathering

Beginning in September, altar flowers will be available for $50.00 per arrangement. You are invited to honor or remember your loved ones by ordering the altar flowers for Sunday worship services. Please sign up on the sheet in the Welcome Center; Petree’s is the providing florist. A notation will be made in the bulletin so others can join in honoring those we love.

Have you thought about joining St. John’s? We will gather on September 18 for an informal meet-and-greet, a light lunch and Q&A about the Christian faith, the Lutheran tradition, and life at St. John’s. If you are interested, please contact Clarke or Toni (clarke@sjlcknox.org) or (toni@sjlcknox.org) for further information; you can also call the Church Office at 865-523-3330.
