JUNE Dance Workshop - Ballet with Hattie Butler Cabaret Workshop with Arts International
My, my! It’s half a century since one of the most popular music acts of all time burst into our homes and hearts with the irresistible Eurovision Song Contest winner, ‘Waterloo’. Fifty years of innovative, joyous, captivating ABBA hits has to be a reason to celebrate.
Anniversaries help us celebrate again - a year, a decade, a century on from the initial triumph – and recapture the love and wonder and amazement we felt the first time around. As an annual event, the St Joseph’s College Arts Festival reflects and magnifies past successes every time it’s re-run. There is always a theme and this year it is Celebration.
Celebrate good times – come on, in the words of Kool and the Gang. The arts play brilliantly into celebration. Consider, for example, the Notting Hill Carnival, the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, Taylor Swift choosing to play Liverpool 60 years on from ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. Think of album covers, think of Sgt Pepper, Dark Side of the Moon, the Velvet Underground…
Now it is over to our students to celebrate the arts, to celebrate youth and to celebrate a world of possibilities.
