St Joseph’s College has a long and proud history in supporting both the sport and academic needs of its elite student athletes and we look forward to supporting you as you embark on the next chapter of your sporting and academic careers. Our commitment to sport of all kinds is a hallmark of life at St Joseph’s College. As a centre for competitive sports we have a national reputation, enhanced by our recent multi-million pound investment in new artificial turf hockey pitches, tennis and netball courts, and new changing facilities. Alongside our major sports there are opportunities for pupils of all abilities to participate in a diverse range of activities. These include our links with national sport establishments, including ITFC, to provide our students with distinct and elite sport pathways.
We offer high achieving elite athletics from ITFC: St Joseph’s College Ipswich Town Sports Scholarships As a student athlete recommended by ITFC, you automatically gain access to the College’s Sport Scholarship programme, supporting high achieving sports students with scholarship awards valued between 25-50% of the academic school fee, dependant on interview, references and meeting the College’s admissions criteria.
Strength and Conditioning St Joseph’s College, working alongside ITFC, has full time staff within the Sports Department to support students’ physical development in line with ITFC expectations. Coaching staff will be present throughout the school day at the College; and College staff will be present, when appropriate, at off campus training sessions.
In line with the College’s strategic vision and Buildings for the Future Plan, and recently opened multi-million pound sports facilities, we have commissioned a refurbishment of the College’s fitness suite, to open in October half-term 2017, which will include state of the art Olympic power lifting, cardiovascular and fixed resistance equipment. The new fitness suite will also house an indoor track to develop explosive power and speed, complemented by speed gates to ensure data is recorded accurately.
Training As an ITFC Academy Student, you will have a bespoke academic plan in place. This means ITFC Academy Students will be timetabled from lessons in line with the training needs of ITFC, which will be facilitated by ITFC at St Joseph’s College, along with designated ITFC training facilities; where possible, the College will provide transport.
Mentoring The College’s Sport Department has a wealth of experience in professional sport and is primed to support the mental and technical aspects of the game through performance profiling and analysis in partnership with ITFC.
