This unit aims to give students awareness on the different areas and procedures related to computer forensics. It also introduces the student to a number of tools that can be used within this field. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — recognise the purpose of computer forensics; — understand the process involved in the handling of responses; — appreciate the whole process of computer forensics from the acquisition of digital evidence to analysis and auditing; — recognise the laws and standards related to computer forensics across different countries; — recognise criminal motives; — plan and design digital forensic cases; — investigate different forensic cases on different platforms; — appreciate the use of different tools in computer forensics; — recognise the future trends in the field. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 60% Assessed Coursework — 40% Examinations
