The unit looks into the need for sustainable advantage by firms of all sizes in trying to cope with competition in a globalised world, and introduce the main authors of strategic thinking and how ICT may be utilised effectively and efficiently to achieve a position where no competitor is able to follow, and thus dominate a particular space in the market. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — define and recall the nature, scope and use of a wide variety of electronic commerce applications; — the transaction cost framework; — the principle concepts found in business models and revenue models; — explain the marketing approach for the web; — recognise the technology that enables e-business and how it can be employed; — recognise the legal and security concerns related to e-business. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 30% Assessed Coursework — 70% Examinations
