Fundamentals of Mixed Reality MQF LEVEL
6
STMARTINS.EDU/COMPUTING
TOTAL CREDITS: 3ECTS
This unit aims to expose students to different media used in creating virtual experiences. Students will learn to differentiate between virtual reality and augmented reality as well as the technical knowledge needed to develop applications on mixed reality. Applications developed for this study unit are sometimes too heavy in terms of computing power, thus, students will gain knowledge on hardware needed to run such applications as well as workarounds to create experiences that can be run on hardware available for every day users. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — distinguish between real interactions and virtual interactions; — design a mixed reality application; — decide what hardware is needed to run a mixed reality application; — decide what tools are needed to develop a mixed reality application. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 70% Assessed Coursework — 30% Examinations
