This unit aims to expose students to the fine tuning skills needed to add search engine optimisation to a website. Students will learn how correct HTML semantics enhance searching as well as adding meta data to maximize keyword extraction. Through practical examples and application, students will gain the skills needed to differentiate what links need to be added to a web page in order to create link building as well as social media links needed for SEO. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — being able to pick the right domain name for your product; — distinguish between webpages which are semantically structured or not; — optimise web pages for search engines; — register with directories; — link building your webpage; — measure and analyze metrics that measure SEO. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 30% Assessed Coursework — 70% Examinations
