ľ=Oľ)!>U 2016 - 2017 #GenerationVote We promoted this campaign run by the NUS in which students were encouraged to register to vote. We also held a Hustings with all of the candidates in the Twickenham Constituency - our work to raise awareness meat that that 100 more of awa our students registered to vote.

Black History Month A month-long campaign to celebrate and raise awareness of black history, featuring guest speaker and Guardian writer Patrick Vernon OBE. Approximately over 100 students attended over the month. Help the Homeless at Christmas with SPEAR A campaign to feed the local homeless population by gathering unwanted food. Approximately 60kg of food was donated.

Quality Doesn’t Grow on Fees A campaign to protest against the proposed rise in tuition fees. Over 400 students signed and resultantly we saved students £600,000.

#ItsOkayToTalk A campaign during Mental Health Awareness week to encourage students to talk about mental health. Over 300 students posted selfies online to raise awareness that it’s OK to talk about Mental illness.

SIMMIEs’ Angels A campaign to keep our students safe on Wednesday nights out, and to improve relationships within the local community. Over the year, students volunteered ` over 400 hours of their time to help run this scheme.

Puppy Rooms A campaign to de-stress students at the busiest point of the exam period. This was in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - students donated £630 to the cause.

A range of events ranging from tea parties to nights out, aimed at every single student to welcome them into university life. We had over 5000 attendees to events during this fortnight.

During RAG Week our students raised over £7000 for Children in Need, Molly’s Smile, CanTeen Ireland and CLIC Sargent. 500 students came to the biggest Friday Club of the year. Big Brother attracted a lot of attention, with the eventual winner raising over £400.

" Þ2,20 29 We welcomed the local community into the Students’ Union Bar and Lounge for a day to enjoy Santa’s Grotto, mulled wine, the Teddington Ukelele Band and to meet local businesses and charities. Approximately 100 students and App community members attended.

! 2 9719> T " 19,3 Students voted our Officer Team for 2017/18 in during the SMSU Elections - this year there was a turnout of 1,588 voters which equates to 27.2%. This was our highest number of voters ever.
